My absolute favorite podcast. I listen to every one even if I have never seen the movie I don’t care. I laugh and laugh and laugh. I hope they do 1000 movies.
I always lose it at Bill on The Town RW: “Affleck’s character says ‘No matter how much you’ve changed, you’ve still gotta pay the price for the things you’ve done. So I gotta long road, but I know I’ll see you again this or the othuh.’ Ummmm… you’re a murderer!?!”
I teach and write about film, and this podcast has been so helpful filling in gaps in my film knowledge. I owe a lot of my understanding of how movies and TV work to Grantland, and now The Ringer, even when I disagree with them on things. They're always knowledgeable, but most of all funny, and I appreciate that. Love The Rewatchables.

Some notes for Scenes to be included on the 500 Rewatchables Montage.. 1) Ryen Russillo's entire 'Boston Militia' monologue at the end of _The Town_ (If you haven't heard already heard it, do yourself a favour..) 2) Mallory Rubin on the _Top Gun_ episode saying "Sometimes at work age is nothing but a number" and everyone turns beetroot red followed up by Jason sagely observing "Everybody's buzzing the tower today.." 3) Each and every time Chris Ryan says "International Immobiliare" during the _Godfather III_ episode 🤣🤣
Russillo cooks in every episode he's appeared in. I always liked Chris' suggestion of a category in which they call Russilo and ask if he liked the film or not. But have as a live call on the pod, completely spontaneous. And if he doesn't answer, we never know.

The ‘American Pie’ episode on Rewatchables 1999 has my favorite moment. One of Bill’s nit picks was he thought there would be more of a “result” on Biggs’ underwear after he ejaculates. And Sean says “wait so this is a plea for more visible semen?” So funny, you guys should put the 1999 episodes on the normal feed. Thanks for making a great pod!

I just listened to your episode for The Insider! You guys are crazy! LOL! Love Chris' impressions! Especially, his Al Pacino impressions! That's a good point. The movie's about the tobacco industry. But you don't see anyone smoke not once. Love Russell Crowe! I'll check out your episode for Proof of Life, next. I just have to watch the movie first.
Funniest part of this vid is at 10:25 when the poster for the 1981 film Neighbors shows up. Pretty sure they never covered this movie and the editor should have put the 2014 neighbors poster 😂
Sometime between 1992 to 1994 I was hanging out with my niece on a boring middle of the week afternoon. Less than a quarter mile away was a walk-in beer store and an incredibly curated video store. The video store had all of those John woo films before anybody had ever seen them. Anyhow went over there with my niece who was only a few years younger than me. She was married and living with her husband so we were hanging out at her house so we went to the store and on a whim picked out true romance there's something to watch. It must have been the cover of the video or something because at that point I had never even heard of Quentin Tarantino. We were just looking for something easy to watch with maybe a good story but the guy at the store said oh you're going to really like this this is really well done. Well that guy was so right. True romances almost and nearly perfect picture. It's a 9 out of 10 and the needle is pointing close to 10. It's so well acted and Saturday and the story grabs you in an emotional way that you just wouldn't expect. Dennis Hopper playing the dad who puts it all on the line for his son by basically telling the bad guys to go fuck themselves and he knows he's going to die but he thinks his death is going to save his son and his son's new bride. Unfortunately he'd forgotten one little thing and the trail stayed hot instead of ending. Any of you haven't seen this movie go see it well you can't go see it but by the DVD or find it on whatever streaming channel might have it. I love this film beyond the way I normally love it's got that Shawshank redemption level of rewatchable and amazing.
An all timer great pod from the Podfather himself, Bill Simmons. This is the format Simmons really thrives in, and while I wish he still wrote columns, his columns were fresh and great because nobody actually wrote the way they spoke like he did, and this format didn’t exist. It’s the only pod I’ll check in with weekly to make sure I don’t miss anything, and now that they’re all on Spotify, I can go back and catch everything. Still the music bed on this video and waiting between clip transitions if just terrible editing. I think I can love the content and find its presentation problematic (question voice).
one good thing about this show.. normally i hate radio shows with fake/overacting laughing.. just absolutely cannot stand it. but i will say, this show introduced me to the movie manhunter, which i had never heard of and became one of my all-time faves.
Does anyone have a list of the categories and I know the mark ruffalo scene from spotlight and Julian moore scene from magnolia what are the other over acting awards.
The greatest highlight that they couldn’t add was the “Top Gun” episode and Bill’s “buzzing the tower” moment regarding Tom Cruise’s chemistry with his romantic interests… look it up and enjoy. 🤣
