    The power to weight of these 1st gen CRX with these newer Honda swaps are phenomenal. I had a 1st gen CRX HF ZC brown top in 1995. It was quick for it's day.

      It's nice. you can squeeze a little more power out of a K24 if you fit the K20 head onto it. It flows faster.

    Lightweight cars really are the most fun. One of my last Hondas was an ‘84 CRX with a modified carburetor and it was one of the most fun cars I’ve ever had. I drive a 1LE Camaro now, to put it in perspective, and I’m always jealous when I see an 80’s or 90’s Honda.

    Guy here in ireland built one, with a b16b block with a b18 crank, it produced 243hp, and weighed well under a ton, we worked out it had a power to weight ratio that embarrassed most super cars of the day. It was seriously quick.

    • @TheFK8Life
      @TheFK8Life ปีที่แล้ว

      This motor has put out more than 500hp naturally aspirated if you want it - 1400+hp with boost 😂

    • @TrueBlueEG8
      @TrueBlueEG8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TheFK8Life His was a time attack car, for circuit racing, I dont see any civic/crx of that generation requiring that kind of power in that situation. In a drag race yes, but usable power is limited by chassis dynamics and downforce etc. It is still amazing to imagine that little bean can with a thousand horsepower🤣

    • @TheFK8Life
      @TheFK8Life ปีที่แล้ว

      @TrueBlueEG8 time attack civics have around 900hp now. My daily driven Type R is around 640hp with my goal being around 700hp for daily use with a stock bottom end. Biggest issue is how much tire he can fit and weight over the front axle lol

    • @TrueBlueEG8
      @TrueBlueEG8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheFK8Life You need to drive mondello park in ireland to understand what I mean, it is narrow, tight, technical and bumpy. I have modified and raced several hondas myself, so I know how quick they can be

    • @TheFK8Life
      @TheFK8Life ปีที่แล้ว

      @TrueBlueEG8 25 years and 17 Hondas later I'm well versed - my bought new 1999 EK had a B18C5 in 2002 and my EG had a B20v with 225whp in 2003 1800lbs on semi slicks, full suspension.
      Bumpy is a problem for older Hondas because they have less stroke and short wheel base - longer travel with a touch more weight keeps the car planted better - add in a wider track with 305 wide tires and you'll have more lateral grip available and more weight over the front axle to make use of the grip and power on conrer exit.
      Anyway- have a great day

    I put a JDM GSR in my 91 back in the very early 00s and just that bone stock i ran a low 13sec.. which for its time was pretty damn fast!
    I built another motor that was setup for 280whp+ NA but when it was ready for the dyno i wrecked the car and sold the parts off.
    I think i could have gone mid-low 11s with it. Which again, for its time in approx 05-06ish was fast!

    I had Alot of fun with a 91 si civic hatchback.
    I bought it with an incomplete swap.
    B18a1, intake, header, gsr limited slip/close ratio, tein coilovers, urethane bushings, but it didn't run until I rewired the computer, and injectors. I had built my own 2.5 inch exhaust with 2 mufflers, and it was still too dang loud.
    I had some really light 17 inch wheels that were curbed up(so I could afford them), and I drove the wee out of that little car.
    People didn't expect a ratty, dented little civic to drive away from them. It was pretty amazing what it would do. Miss that car terribly.
    A "friend" stole it,(forged paperwork) . At the time was battling for custody of my son, so I was out of money for attorney fees. I only had a couple thou wrapped up in it so it could have been worse, I guess . never saw him or the car again.
    I hope it snap oversteers in a corner, with an unintended off-road excursion.

    even the NA K24 in mostly stock form freaking RIPS. My FG2 (8th gen 2 door SI) swapped with a nearly stock (not even FBO) K24a2, making only 220 WHP / 170 TQ at the wheels, goes neck and neck with the lower end V8's lmao. It was insane going from the K20z3 to the K24a2, only 10 more WHP but the Torque is absolutely insane. More torque at 2k rpm than you were getting at 6k rpm / Vtec. That power to weight coupled with the Helical FWD LSD is an experience most people are sleeping on / have no idea about, it's much better than the common open diff lower powered FWD cars. Best part is a good K24a2 is about $1000 lmao.

I genuinely believe h series is so slept on for no reason lol people have big misconceptions with the h22. I’ve had mine since I was 17 and I’m 25 now, never rebuilt completely original other than timing belt. Also has a h22a4 transmission. it’s been an absolute dog on the streets and handles anything you give it. It is also a handling machine, best fwd car I’ve ever driven in the corners.

    Which one has more power stock? I've been seeing more and
    more K24 swaps lately but I know K20s were always great as

    I just looked up the curb weight difference for 1st gen vs 2nd gen, it's not as much as I thought it would be. Do you think it's worth swapping a 1st gen when a 2nd gen has so much more aftermarket support and arguably better suspension design? I love 1st gens too but it seems like a more difficult swap just to be different.

    Those were slower than you remember, but they were so much fun!😊😊 Then you still outran a mustang/Camaro on the get go, so basically all cars were slow because of gas mileage and antique v8. You can't compare the feeling of a small light car like the crx and the fiestas. Even an R18 from a normal civic will make this thing a screamer! The k series motor is no b18 and the price is just outrageous, it completely goes against the Honda Civic mantra.

      They will be posting that on their website. Full list of the parts used as well as wiring diagram. DX not being a fuel injecting car originally will require you to make some changes at the fuel tank. If you can find a fuel injected tank or just the pickup assembly you can use that.
