HUGE ABBA fan here. I shall be at opening night in London at the ABBA Arena for the concert “Voyage”. It is believed the four members of the group will attend but will not perform, but rather sit back & watch themselves perform. My tickets are gold dust and nothing will entice me to sell them. The 27th May 2022 will be a game changer in history.
@@erichawkinson Moreover, if I project Myself in a dystopian future which I will be long gone; I can foresee a world with less people (like the infamous 600M goal) where those people will unknowingly exist among avatars of the past. A virtual past and present where both are meaningless... There's at least a Prequel to the movie AI to be done here...
One of the reasons I started putting my thoughts out more is that I hope to share more hope and possibility to avoid the dystopian outcomes from technology use. Sometimes I think it might be a self fulfilling prophecy.
Considering both the Abbatar project and the Carrie Fisher experience, it seems possible - even likely - that Abba will continue to "perform" in concerts long after their death. The rights to the digital versions of the group will have significant enduring, tradeable value. There seems to be no reason why new music videos featuring the de-aged group couldn't be released, nor indeed why a new "Abba - The Movie (2027)" couldn't be made as a 50 year anniversary of the original to really highlight how far things have come.
When our digital copies become commodities that live forever that raises new questions also. The desire for producers to own IP rights for new talent could become even more controlling and the incentives for investing in more long term potential is increased?
To the question "Would you like to have a digital avatar of yourself hanging around": Doubtful. Ersatz immortality in this form is creepy in the extreme. Books, audio recordings, movies, and the like should be sufficient for the evidence that we were here.🤔🧐
Some digital avatars are already in museums, one example of this is the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum where you can go sit in a room with a holocaust survivor, listen to stories and ask questions. I think it might be cool to have something similar for my grandkids, but I think I know what you mean by creepy, we aren't quite used to this are we.
At the very end you said how this can be used. Why create an avatar when you are you? It's just people playng around with technology. I still don't get it's purpose. I really don't. One thing for sure, we are so far from our purpose here on Earth. And this is just one of those things that dehumanize. This is like playing with a cutout like those old dress up sstand figures you put paper clothers on. That's really all it is.
You are not alone is this thinking. Alone together with our mobile devices already, they connect us but also trap us in other ways. These new technologies will have perhaps even deeper effects on human communication and experiences. That is one reason I lecture on these topics to students here in Japan, I hope we can navigate these trends is the best way possible.
@@erichawkinson I'm not much into this "digital technology"..................but I will be running to the record store on Nov. 5th to buy their new album "Voyage".....💿....🏃♂️

As long it is not only the 26th they will attend 😭
I'm good with the ABBA digital twins just as long as the original Swedish fab four are writing, producing, and recording new music !
I saw the ABBA show two weeks ago. It was unbelievable- out of this world. I came away feeling as though I saw the actual ABBA
Maybe people who went are saying similar things. I wish I could go, but its a bit too far.
Great content, you should have more viewers. "Thanks for the music", I discovered your channel. :-)
Thanks very much for the kind words. I really enjoy discussing these issues/topics.

@@erichawkinson Let the self fulfilling prophecy to the psychopath elites but recognize it as such, I might say.
Excellent questions and well-presented info! Love it. I wonder if we will one day end up as a talking holograms like Superman's father.
So many examples of holograms in TV and movies. I like The Doctor from Star Trek Voyager

Two singles released on 9/02/21 by ABBA.
This is quite troublesome for me... see, I can't know if the guy (president, Pope, etc)I see on TV is real or fake ! ! !
Exactly! It's like we can photoshop the world now!

That’s how they create movies people don’t play in movies we can see that

I love ABBA, but I do not like the "Abbatars" 😝😟
A sign of the future, at least we get concerts together again and access to them for the masses.
