  • The simpit was designed to be used primarily with Star Citizen, however, it was also designed to be used for Flight Sims and to play any regular games.

    Feature List:
Most of the hardware was built from scratch, excepting any retail items such as sticks, etc.
    Simpit Integrated Displays
3 Displays on the main dash
    1 Heads Down main display
2 MFD displays coupled with Thrustmaster MFD Cougar controls
All integrated displays can make use of or be the target of projected scenes with plugins/custom interface elements, other players points of view, or to manage and run other programs. MFDs can control other programs without the need to Alt-tab between windows via hotkeys. Custom configurable interface elements on a per game basis can be run on each display.
    Holographic Display / Targeting Computer
Uses a 'peppers ghost' type hologram to display a transparent overlay in real time of a gunner or another players point of view. This does not block the main display thanks to the hologram being transparent. This can be either done locally, or with extreme low latency streaming. It can also act as a 4th auxilary monitor. It is on an articulated piston arm, allowing it to be moved to anywhere needed.
    Integrated Simpit controls
All buttons/switches/dials etc. are functional, able to send USB joystick input to the PC which can be bound in games. All panels attach magnetically and can be replaced for different styles, or a change in the location of the controls.
    Ships in this video:
    Redeemer
    Scorpius
    Sabre
    Vanguard
    Responsive Landing System
Landing gear indicator lights that match in game state, including automated landing.
    Autopilot Panel
Acts as a button box, or an autopilot toggle for more serious flight sims. Has the ability to be programed on the fly without sending input.
    Articulated Accessories
Keyboard, mouse, and G13 gamepad trays allow what conventional controls you need to be moved into reach to convenient locations, or stowed away quickly.
    Conventional Hardware (Current Configuration)
    Main Display
    5120x1440 120hz 32:9 Super Ultrawide 49" VA
Right Stick - Virpil Constellation Alpha on WarBrd Base
Left Stick - Virpil Constellation Delta with Omnidirectional Throttle mod on CM3 base (A modification to the mounting of the left stick, using a custom angled adapter for the Virpil/Warthog style threads. This aligns the twist axis to an up/down direction to match the corresponding strafe)
    MFG Crosswind pedals
Wireless TrackIR sensor, attached to a wireless headset for full freedom.
A standard desktop machine can be connected to the chasis, and due to a custom modular connection, can be powered on via power buttons on the simpit, rather than the PC. All components can be removed without soldering/desoldering.
Chasis cabinet containing the PC hardware, and the simpit hardware is vented by mesh panels and 4 200mm fans.

Great showcase! Really love the setup you have, I'm looking to make a more humble version of this for myself.
Would you mind sharing which displays you have with the Thrustmaster Cougers? Are they touch screens? How do they work with the buttons on the Thrustmaster Cougers?
Thank you kindly in advanced! :)

      Thanks.
They are touchscreens, but I don't have them setup for it. They're LCD screens that are meant for electronics projects, I got them around 2016 on sale for about $40 each. Like the kind for Raspberry Pi. I can't seem to find what they are anymore exactly. Some are 7inch, and the larger ones are 9 inch.

I know you have been making wonderful tutorials and helping people bridge the gap of information on this wonderful set up
But can we get links and footage of what to look for and how to make the majority of this as that information should be preserved and I want to see this become more popular as it deserves all the props it deserves 👏 again thank you for the wonderful showing and I wish to see more from you as I have been over the years
I would love to see a video on how you hot this all hooked up together
From your computer, cord management, etc

I'm glad you like it. If you want to help it get more attention I appreciate any sharing of the content to get it out there.
Unfortunately I built this in 2016 originally and never filmed most of it. I only took some pictures in progress of the build.
I can definitely try to cover some stuff, but I don't really have a parts list or plans. I mostly just have a general idea of when I'm building something and work it out all on the fly. You can probably tell that from some of the button box videos I've done.
I've changed a few things around over the years as well.
Most of anything I needed I made custom from MDF and Sheet Styrene. These are two common building materials. (I don't have a 3d printer, nor 3d modelling experience, so I just build things old school like they did with sets and models).
If you look through the prior community posts you can see some build photos of the main frame and how it was constructed.
I'm hoping to do a PC upgrade later this year as well, so that will be an opportunity.

Is flying in this "F-16" configuration comfortable? Seems like it would stress the shoulder relatively quick.

Are the extra monitors that are showing your MFD feeds legit? Is there a setting for this in SC?

    • @AfterimageFlight
      @AfterimageFlight  ปีที่แล้ว +1

They are legit as in they are showing what they are showing in real time,, but they are not pulling anything directly from game. You can see some more here: th-cam.com/video/U2zskuJkduw/w-d-xo.html
