Good painting tips for quickly getting your troops on the field. On a historical note, the English civil war is a period of time not often covered here in the states. This video makes me want to do some research! Thanks for sharing your work.
Hope you have fun exploring the period. What we've traditionally called the English Civil War is more accurately described as the British Civil Wars. (There were three of them, or maybe five or six.) It is also referred to as the Wars of the Three Kingdoms (England, Scotland, and Ireland) - (And here's where I deleted a lot of useless confusing stuff) Anyway, the point I wanted to make is that there's an excellent British series which can be found on TH-cam called "By the Sword Divided" which consists of (iirc) two seasons of ten episodes each. (FYI - what we call "seasons" the British call "series", so therefore look for "series one, episode one" to start.) You don't see many battle scenes as it is mostly a drama about how the politics and religion of the period affected a couple of families united by marriage. It should give you a good feel for the period, though. Also, there's the movie "Cromwell" starring Richard Harris as the titular character, and Alec Guinness as King Charles I. Watch it if you want, but the movie is so full of cringeworthy historical inaccuracies it would have to be a hundred times better to rise to the level of guilty pleasure. (Historically speaking, it's so bad I would have guessed it was made in Hollywood rather than Britain.) Still, it's pretty much the only movie I know of set during the war, so it might be worth a glance - though at the moment I can't imagine why.
Good job, glad to see you doing some pike & shotte stuff.Been debating doing a box of these as newcastles whitecoats just as a change from my usual montrose vs covenanters.
About a year ago I bought a copy of Warhammer English Civil War and haven’t been able to paint anything due to being intimidated by the number of regiments for both sides. This will come in handy.

It's not a period I know lots about beyond a general overview. Like any period it is easy to find the basics online - thank goodness for the internet.

It is nice to mix things up once in a while. I'm tempted by the period, but I've got too many Napoleonic French to paint as it is!
Really good tutorial and very effective finish on the models.
Thanks Paul
Great job on these mate. Simple and effective.
Thanks Leon
