    Quite a few of you have commented that the 205 Mesh has come down in price. This is nice as the original price tag was a little high for me. At a lower price this is a great and worth the step up from the 205 vanilla and competes more favorably with the 215 Mesh.

    Just bought this 205 mesh,..what attracted me is the cut out for the front intake fans which is meant for 140mm, so no 120mm cut outs partially blocking the airflow which is perfect,..

    Great review! I have a few questions
    I noticed on Lian Li's website that the two buttons next to the power button say "C" and "M". Do they mean Color and Mode?
    Is the fan hub only for RGB?
    My guess is that we use the fan hub and front IO to control the RGB, and for fan speeds on the other hand, we use the BIOS?

    • @jimbopcbuilds
      @jimbopcbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks for this video tells me I'm gonna have to mod the case a bit for to create mounts for cable ties and such, but that's easily done, appreciate the information on this case. Planning to route my fans cables to have cpu temp showing on forward fans, so I may use the controller to add more fans, I don't like that the psu has no airflow out other then under. That's why I didn't put temps in the video, without a baseline they would have been pretty meaningless. The temps I did see however were decent (it's been a while) and the airflow was very good with the fans provided.

    Another useful video thank you! Better lit too :)! Sorry a bit new to all this and shopping for components. Why are you not a fan of those removable mesh filters? Is the mesh front panel framed by plastic? Had a pair of brushed aluminum Lian Li's (forgot model) with their aluminum casters that i had someone build for me in 2007. Loved the full aluminum quality! I'm old school and just can't wrap around the plastic bits lol. Thanks again for this down-to-earth video :)!

      I don't like the removeable filters as I tend to catch them a lot when moving the case around when building. As my old mum would say, I'd find a way to have an accident in padded cell. As for the old Lian Li cases, I'm with you. I had one myself about 20 years. I wasn't allowed the aquarium side panel which still grates me to this day.

    Great review Sir!
    I was considering to buy a Non Mesh version of this case because of it's minimalistic looks, but I'm concerned about the temps as I live in India and here the ambience is always around 40° C. Will it be fine to consider non mesh case if I add Lian Li Galahad 240 ARGB AIO Liquid CPU Cooler and possible

    • @jimbopcbuilds
      @jimbopcbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Excellent question. Personally I would go for the mesh in your circumstances. The mesh obviously has less air resistance so more air would be pushed through by the fins on the Galahad radiator. But price would also come in to play for that. The air flow on the non mesh isn't that bad. So if the mesh is a lot more expensive then I'd seriously think about going for the standard. I hope that helps?

    • @bhupeshdhami

      @@jimbopcbuilds You might not believe but here In India the price for Lian Li Lancool 205 Mesh ARGB Cabinet (Black) is ₹5,799 ($77.90) on mdcomputers (A very popular website for buying PC components in India) and on the same website Lian Li Lancool 205 Cabinet (Black) is available for ₹5,749 ($77.23). So, the Mesh version is negligibly cheaper than Non Mesh.
      Can you tell me how much difference in temps will I experience If I go for Mesh rather than the standard one? I just want the temps to be under 70°, is it possible with 3 120mm of LIAN LI ST120 Case Fans along with the Galahad?

    Informative video, but if I had one point of criticism for your presentation it would be that you didn't seem to be all that confident in regards to certain aspects of the case. For example when you were looking at the top I/O you spotted what looked like a fan controller and said something along the lines of "there could be a fan controller". I also don't believe you ever provided detail when it comes to the size of the fans included at the front of the case. Which was actually my main point of interest. It looks like they're bigger than 140mm? (Edit) No they are 140mm. My eyes must be deceiving me.
    Over all a little bit of scripting that provides precise detail after checking Lian Li's literature on their product probably would have made the video feel a bit more polished. Obviously I can go check their website as well, but hey. I'm already here.
    You are one of the only channels that comes up with regards to a full look at this case though, so I appreciate the effort all the same. Camera work was well done and I could clearly see all the details. I especially appreciated the look at the 3.5" drive cage. Thanks.

    • @jimbopcbuilds
      @jimbopcbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do each case walk through straight out from the box. I’m going for the more “journey of discovery” approach. That way viewers are joining me with what I find so I don't fake liking a feature when I see it and vise versa. I do this for 2 reasons: 1) I think it feels more natural rather than too structured and 2) I do TH-cam in my very little spare so in all honesty, with work etc getting in the way, the amount of time I have for video prep is limited. The editing process takes quite a while so I have to prioritize where to spend the time.

      The fans are indeed. They are 3 pin RGB fans but they come connected to a built in fand hub which in turn connects a 3 pin header on the motherboard. The software will then depend on the motherboard you use. So for example if you use an ASUS board the header will show up in Auro Sync.

      There are converters out there that are not that expensive. The fans that come with it are pretty decent and are already connected to the controller, so really you only need one converter for the cable from the controller. That or just use the button on the front of the case.

    • @jimbopcbuilds
      @jimbopcbuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem at all. There's a button on the front that is connected to the controller. Each of the installed fans is already connected to the button, but that button controls the RGB only. What you will need to connect is the fan power cable from the controller to your board. That way the motherboard bios can manage the case airflow. The benefit of connecting the RGB header to your motherboard for central control. If you have RGB RAM and say RGB lights on your board you can then line up the lighting for all of them. Personally when I hit the problem you're having I set the fans and everything else to a set color. That way you can set the fans using the case button and everything else using the bios / software.

      Firstly on the mesh panel. I think you should be able to do it if you can find one. They 100% used the same tooling for both cases and they clip on the same way. As for the restarting, what PSU do you have? Is that the CPU temps? What GPU do you have? How are the temps on that? If it has 2 power points have they used the same cable for both? To be honest, I know it's a journey but I would still take it back to them. They're normally pretty good with this kind of thing (the one by me is anyway) and it may even be a faulty PSU, so they would be able to replace it. It may work out cheaper doing the 50 minute drive rather than buying a new PSU, as that might not even be the problem. It could be the GPU or something else even. Also install CPUID HWMonitor and keep an eye on all your temps, just in case it's something else like memory.

If you look in your motherboard it may be listed a case case fan header 3) The RGB connector (this is a thinner small rectangle and and 3 holes on the bottom with a gap between 2 of them) needs to be connected a RGB control header on your motherboard if it has one. I guess that would depend on motherboard and the riser card. The are in the case should be big enough, but if the slots are too close together or you're using a mATX motherboard you might struggle.

      @@min0rmeme108 The are roughly 1.5cm slots at the back of the case. They are covered with a holding cover. Line up where your GPU will slot in and and take the 2 /3 screws out as needed and then the slots will be opened up. It's pretty standard in every case. I did an installing a GPU video a while back but it's quite long. If you search for how to install a GPU card there's plenty of good videos covering how to do it. Paul's Hardware and Bitwit both did build guides last year that cover it and many other topics as well.

      It has 5 fan 4 pin points and 4 ARGB connectors. I guess you mean ARGB connectors anyway as you'll be connecting the fans to your motherboard CPU Fan header? That doesn’t sound good. What is getting hot? Have you used HW Monitor to track the temps? It sounds to me like either your cpu cooler isn’t seated properly or it’s not very good. But it’s difficult to tell without more detail.

      Not a bad plan. You might be pushing your psu. Type in psu wattage calculator in google. Enter your spec and see how close it says you are to your current psu. Be quiet have a really good calculator.

    can you control the speed of the fans or are they set by the fan controller?

      The fan controller has a cable that connects to a fan header on you motherboard so you can indeed control the speed.

    Hello, and thank you for test this product. Is really hard to find a review of this case. That said, I have a couple of questions, and I'd be really grateful if you can help me:
    I have this old case that have only one cooler (a 120mm exhaust); I change my hw some time ago and I now got a pny 3060 ti xlr8, r5 5600, a steel legends b450, and a toughpower 750w gold. Pretty good setup, but my gpu is getting 75C with fans at 60%, and the cpu with stock fan is getting 84C; is a lot, and I need a solution. Well, I live in Argentina, and our market is really strange, an id cooling 226xt costs 48 usd today, and tomorrow can cost 30 or 60, that's our level. I thought buy an id cooling 226 or 224 (224 costs half), and maybe this case.
    Prices in cases I saw: lian li 205 mesh $70; deepcool matrexx 55 mesh w/ 4f $95; lian li 215 $100; coolermaster td500 mesh $100; lancool 2 mesh rgb $125 and lancool 3 $135.
    For cpu coolers, IDc 214 and deepcool gammax 400 v2 $17; deepcool gte v2 2 $24; IDc 224 black v2 $28, argb v3 $33; 226 $48; 224 duet argb $48; hyper 212 dual $52; and be quiet dark rock slim is $55.
    There's more products, maybe at solid price, but those are the ones I've seen so far. What would you recommend?
    PS: sorry, I know is a lot information; if you can't reply, don't worry. Thanks for reading.

      Your 5600 running at 84c doesn't sound good as they are not the hardest to cool. From what you're saying I can only guess that the case is chocking the CPU cooler a bit. So for me changing the case would be a really good move. I've not tested all the cases you've mentioned but based on the prices I think the 205 mesh will be a good bet as it comes with decent included fans. I run my Linus server a 205 mesh and it runs like a charm. As for CPU cooler, I've been very impressed with deepcoolers I've looked so far. But I would say that the hyper 212 is a very solid option as well, especially for a 5600.
