He was widely supported and loved by the people of the Gorkha community all around the world, especially from the Darjeeling region and Sikkim. Gathering mass support, he won the show with a whopping 7 crore votes. Once upon a time, a popular singer chose Nepal as his "Karma Bhoomi." He went on to become a lead actor in the Nepali film industry. But now, it has been years, and we haven't seen him on television or on big screens. What happened to him? What happened to the hero of the Gorkha people? And who took advantage of his once upon-a-time popularity?

I am from dimapur nagaland , still remember we collected money from our colony and used to vote him every week ,we love him he married my childhood friend abhinav sister Geeta aley , and recently they celebrated their child 6 month birthday they are happy
I still remember giving him votes in our school, not only that we used to take home for more to give.. But now after winning Indian Idol he went somewhere and now no updates.

Prasant Tamang is similar to curse to the Indain Gorkha community. As we support him for our national identity crisis. Amit paul's voice was magnificent his voice was far better than Prashant's voice but we came forward to support him as because of only he was representing us in national stages. It is our unfortunate that after being winner of Indian Idol, Prashant Tamang never came back in Darjeeling and singing for us to give thanks to the people here. Yes, we thought that Prashant will be in Indian music industry and he will becoming a renowned singer from our Gorkha community. He will be representing us in national level and making us proud indeed. But after winning that contest, he has chosen himself to develop his career into Nepal which was his blunder mistake, which seems itself that he belongs to Nepal not from Darjeeling or Gorkha community. As because of Prashant Tamang, we kicked out our superior Subash Ghising (the only loyal, true and brave leader of Indian Gorkha) along with sixth schedule (which was really a ladder to the brightest future of entire Indian Gorkhas) we the people of Darjeeling lost rays of hope, future and smile forever only because of Prashant Tamang. 😥😥😥
It was our thought or expectations not his.. he doesn’t belong to any political family and without analysing any fact how can we blame him ??
He is just a singer but people started worshiping him as god or pride and that’s not his mistake it’s ours.. so stop cursing him
To know nd judge his talent there was successful judges so he was already successful ful in his carrier when he won Indian idol after that he should have to think bro for us we the Indian gorkha who has not till cannot say where we are from which community we belongs to nd he didn't look back once to Darjeeling nd all West Bengal people so for me he deserve what he is now nd why people don't want to know him

2007 Indian idol season 3 Amit paul was getting vote only from Shillong i was in class 11 St. Peter's school were amit paul did his schooling but Prasant tamang was getting vote from Shillong as well from a Nepali population living in northeast India amit paul being a Bengali speaks khasi and adopted khasi tradition and culture

Expectations of community made him down in his hometown. He is a simple person , a young lad who made our Nepali community proud all over the world. It's obvious that due to Sony TV contract he can't perform as in his wish anywhere. Our people didn't thought about that. He is a good singer and will remain pride of Gorkhas always. Prashant Tamang failure isn’t a his failure.. it’s a community failure, he is just a singer but the community expectations was unrealistic.. they shifted all their infill full dreams to his shoulders without analysing his real talent.

I was in class 3. Prashant Tamang was the reason our family started watching Indian idol. My father loves songs Prashant Tamang sang in Indian Idol. They used to collect money for votes.

May be he choose Nepali industry because his hindi pronunciation was not good and its difficult for outsiders in bollywood.

I still remember at that time we used to collect donation from every person and made a queue at phone booth and made a group for voting 24 hrs. We didnot sleeped every night. we stay awake by playing song and musical instrument. At that time every second was important for voting. Each people voted maximum vote at an hour and give turn to other person for voting.
I still remember those days when I saw people blocking road in Sikkim for money which they need to make phone calls n vote for prasant tamang. Even I was eyewitness to the violent incidents in siliguri. I lived in salbari for a long time saw the hill strike in 2017. We experienced lockdown much before COVID
I am from nepal i still remember those days i was in class 9. in nepal the donation has been collected from all over the nepal to vote the prashant tamang.. huge money has been collected from nepal at tbt time.

I was there when Siliguri riot happened, their rally didn't allowed an ambulance to pass, and the patient died, then college students got agitated and started fighting, emergency was imposed.

Prashant Tamang is a lesson learnt for people as they had euphoria over an undeserving one. They had gone overboard to support a person based on ethnic sentiment but in the due process defeated a real talent. That was incorrect on many level and people have now the repercussion standing right infront of them.

The "judging or voting " has mostly, commercialisation motive,not artistic.
