Prashant in indian idol was like a festival for us back then ! We watched every episode of him. As we belongs to remote areas, we used to gather in hundreds just to watch him on tv.
It's nostalgic. I requested hundreds of my friends by calling and messaging them to vote for Prashant Tamang. The first Nepali speaking Indian Idol 👍 I still propose him to come to me to improve his Hindi diction. I will try my best. I am a naturally Hindi and Nepali speaker, passionate learner of Sanskrit and Panjabi, a passionate language teacher, translator and a workaholic person. I promise to improve his concentration and performance.
Infact it was a revolutionary fight indirectly by the Nepalese community to support Prashant Tamang . He was on such a platform to prove Every Nepali had that potential to reach on top just that the privileges are deprived. With such hope and potential had we supported him then. We wish he would come bk and show the world that he has that same energy.
All most all Nepalese voted him . He wasn’t the best but still we made sure he would win. Its not his fault, its ours. Same thing happened in the Show Gurukul. A guy from Kashmir kept getting rescued by the Kashmiris when he was in the eliminations zone. The Kashmir made him win by sms vote and the judges were not happy with him. He was soon forgotten.
He has the right to live the way he want and we have no right to judge his life.Specially the medias or people with media are more responsible to create perception on anyones life.
I am glad someone brought up this. I am born and brought in Nepal. I am Nepali and love Nepal. But at the time when Prashant was contestant at Indian Idol, I liked him but I always thought he didn’t deserve to be in even top 5. There were far better singers than him. I felt Amit deserved the award but because of public voting, Prashant won. It was very unfair to Amit and other singers.
I think we Nepalese had lot of expectation from Prashant but he let us down we never heard that he did charity show for Earthquake victims relief for Nepal. NEPAL did everything to make him winner but his social works were not there. This might be the reason he's now missing in nepal

I was barely 4 years old when he was a contestant. I still remember how landlines were prevalent back then and everytime the voting lines would open, my entire neighborhood would vote from their landlines. He was the first Nepali in Indian Idol. And all the Nepalese went berserk voting him in mass. That won him this contest. In my opinion Kapil Thapa who came in subsequent year was a far better singer of Nepali origin than Prashant Tamang.But the guy didnt even reach finals. After Prashant's victory, many shows realised how biased public voting can be. And almost all singing reality shows abolished the public voting system and contained the judgement to judges only. This also fired back because now the shows could decide who will win and who will loose. The reality TV show Industry is dead as of now. It all started from here, its my opinion. You can see the Indian Idol now. Its scripted. They even go as far as scripting love story between the contestants to stay relevant in tabloid news.

Millions of Tibetan voted for Prashant Tamang but I’ll admit Amit Paul actually deserved to be the IDOL at the time. It was a emotional decision from every angle and Prashant got Lucky that time.
Living in Shillong and seeing Prashant and Amit as finalists was really a dilemma as Amit was representing Shillong. Albeit, our Nepali community in Shillong did vote for Prashant as it was a matter of great pride back then, but I know for a fact that Amit was a much better singer than Prashant.
He never visited to Darjeeling after winning the show, that’s really sad, 50 % of the votes were from Sikkim and Darjeeling. But never came back to Darjeeling and Sikkim.

I remember back when I was in school all of my teachers and classmates where also urging us to vote for him. Shit was insane how all Nepalese people came together just to make him the winner. What made this extra weird for me is that he's actually my uncle (Aagu, my father cousin) and seeing everyone obsessed with him like that was really embarrassing. ngl He's good don't get me wrong but it felt like he only won because of his nationality and not his skills as a singer.

I'm from Darjeeling & when he got selected for Indian Idol from the 1st day till Grand Finale we the people of Darjeeling, Sikkim & Nepal supported him with financially & physically for voting him and made him the Indian Idol. After becoming Indian Idol he never thank the people of Darjeeling nor Sikkim for making him Indian Idol. Still most of the people of Darjeeling are paying telephone bill which was used for voting him. He come and goes from Darjeeling like a ghost wearing scarf or mask so that nobody recognized him even his neighbors or friends. We supported him because our Gorkha has to be an Indian Idol but we didn't thought he is so f... pissed off. Now the people of Darjeeling don't accept him as a Idol or star or son of Darjeeling. I think most of our generation doesn't recognized him.

I was in class 5 then, I still remember that we had stayed up all night voting for him. Telephone booths were set up everywhere and there was huge gathering of people😃 I slept off at home and suddenly I hear a big noise…”yaayyy” that was my dad in other room, haha that cheer up after the win!

I'm from Darjeeling & when he got selected for Indian Idol from the 1st day till Grand Finale we the people of Darjeeling, Sikkim & Nepal supported him with financially & physically for voting him and made him the Indian Idol. After becoming Indian Idol he never thank the people of Darjeeling nor Sikkim for making him Indian Idol. Still most of the people of Darjeeling are paying telephone bill which was used for voting him. He come and goes from Darjeeling like a ghost wearing scarf or mask so that nobody recognized him even his neighbors or friends.
We supported him because our Gorkha has to be an Indian Idol but we didn't thought he is so f... pissed off.
Now the people of Darjeeling don't accept him as a Idol or star or son of Darjeeling. I think most of our generation doesn't recognized him.
Just because of his wrongful steps after winning indian idol...other future singers in the reality show are badly affected in the matter of vote.
Sahi ho, but what about 50 lakhs plus vote for him each episode from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh ??
