    To say I’ve enjoyed your in depth evaluations of the Fluval lights, is an understatement. The analysis you provide, showing the benefits is invaluable! It takes the Fluval Plant 3.0, and the Aquasky, from a simply auto-mode light, to plant growing tools.
    Nobody does the in depth studies that you are known for. Thank you, again, my friend, for sharing your knowledge with those of us in the hobby! ❤️

    Love the light…but, it could use 10-20’ more Bluetooth range or even wifi…which (WiFi) would also fix the time memory issue.

    If you're prone to power outages, I'd suggest a UPS so that you don't lose your settings (and be sure to save them so they are easy to export back to the light) and plug other important equipment into the UPS as well. Note I don't have any of this stuff, but from these videos there should be no need to lose your settings with the save feature.

    I just replaced my original aquasky with this one. I have a Juwel Rio 180, and used the aquasky to upgrade from Fluoro tubes. I am liking the increased control over the light level great and love the simulated day. I do find the light too bright at 100%. What light settings would you suggest for low light plants (just Java fern atm), clown loaches, boesmani rainbows and bristlenose?

      @@MrsBMusic it's slight taller than a 40 breeder, so I would do 100% white, 75% red and green, 10% blue

    Hi Bentley, Thank you so much for the information you post. I have Juwel's HeliaLux Spectrum led light with SmartControl on Juwel Vision 180, which has similar strength to Fluval's Plant 3.0 LED but uses only white, green, red and blue, which Fluval Aquasky uses. so now i'll try your shallow summer settings for a while.

    I bought the fluval aquasky 3.0 after watching your channel reviews. I was able to jump straight in with using it. It’s like having a patch of sunlight on my tank in my house. The plants have become very lush, and it’s easier on my fish (they aren’t startled). It’s well worth the expense

    I've been liking my Aquasky so far. I purchased it after seeing the first review you did. I was worried about the warm yellow tone to the light at first, but it's really grown on me. My diamond tetras get this fantastic coppery golden sheen under it. They looked rather washed out under the old light which had a cooler tone.

      I prefer to have no moonlight mode, so when my sunset completes the lights are just off with minimal ambient light from the room being the "night light"

  • @BrianWelsh42

    Excellent video - thanks so much for the in-depth review. I've just set this light up in a fairly new 20g L tank (~1 month) and have run into some crazy green hair algae issues. I was first using the auto settings and then the settings recommended by Fluval themselves, but neither seem to be right. The Fluval settings are very red! FYI - I'm planted with anubias, java fern, crypts, bacopa, and dwarf sag. Do you have any specific recommendations, or should I go with your Shallow Summer settings? My only concern was that the duration was too long but it sounds like maybe you've accounted for this with the intensities.

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would just compress the shallow summer for 8 total hours of light

    Bentley, I have the 3.0 on a 55 without c02. I've noticed on a number of vids, many people will hang their lights vs. setting it right on the aquarium. Other than dimming it, is there any other reason for hanging it? I just dont' seem to get the growth I want from my plants

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It helps spread the light wider for tanks which are wider front to back

  • @Lady.Kaylow
    @Lady.Kaylow ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi! I'm a little late in the game ahaha but if you have the time i have a question for my brand new sky light! Just bought them today (one for a 20 long and one for a 15g)
    My lights are not directly over the tanks, i placed it on a 'racking' that i made with metal shelves holders at about a feet over water level. I had the regular nicrew DEL light and i've been stuggeling with algea for the past 4 years (yes i know... i should have bought good lights before)
    So i placed my settings as you suggested for the shallow ones but +10% on each to compensate for the distance air/water, do you think this will give me a good start or should i go at 'full' power like a bigger tank because of the distance?
    Thank you so much for this serie of videos, there is just so much to learn with for our little water babies!

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  ปีที่แล้ว

      Start with the shallow +10% and monitor. If the plants look like they're reaching for more light, dial it up another 10%. If they look good and you're seeing less algae, you're right on target. Don't be afraid to tinker a little given your set up!

    Hi Bentley! I added a second Aquasky light to the mega flex tank and decided to try the shallow summer settings for that tank. With the second light, of course, the tank is significantly brighter doing the shallow settings on both light bars. Do you recommend I lower each shallow summer intensity in half on each Aquasky? I’ve heard that brightness doesn’t necessarily correlate with the needed lighting parameters the plants may require.

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would dim it down if you start to see too much algae forming. If you're getting minimal algae, then don't worry about it
