    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not overkill, but you might turn the power down a little bit from some of my settings in order to account for the fact that you don't have a lot of high demand plants, so you don't need super highlight. You. Tank is a little taller though which will help some to make more powerful light diffract and become more like medium level light.

    I need help figuring out the best light settings for my 125 G African Cichlid tank. I have Anubias attached to wood, so they are all on the bottom half of the tank. I have been going back and forth between the Malawi and Planted presets. My plants don't grow at all. I also struggle with brown algae. What light settings would you recommend? Thank you in advance.

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anubias is a slow grower to begin with, so you'll likely need time to get them growing and covering more. I would not push the light past 75% in your case as you might keep getting algae issues.

    Thank you SO MUCH for this series! I love my Fluval 3 but I’ve been struggling to find a balance of bright enough for my personal taste while not causing huge algae blooms. I didn’t realize increasing the intensity slowly would help discourage algae and I’m hoping this will be the key to solving my problem!

    You've made this video before and I followed your tips and settings and my plants went crazy! I also have a pressurized CO2 system. Once I got the balance right between the CO2, light, and fertilizer, everything grew like crazy! I would highly recommend this light to anybody!

  • @willparsons32

    It's now been almost a month since I've upgraded to CO² and I'm really starting to see the results. I increase my Fluval plant 3.0 light intensity by 1 - 2% every three or four days until I reach the maximum of 75% (as you suggested) while keeping the CO² at approx. 3 Bps.
    For the record, here are my color channels and percentages over the past week:
    -09/21-
    Pink -50
    Blue -5
    C.White - 62
    P.White - 67
    W.white - 56
    ___________________
    -09/24-
    Pink -52
    Blue - 5
    C.white - 64
    P.white - 69
    W.white - 57
    I'm also aiming for the light to provide a maximum of eight hours however, this is getting a suddle transfer to a different "on/off" time period in the day.
    Everything will eventually begin at 11:15am (including the CO² injection.)
    The reason for the time shift is for two reasons.
    1.. Allowing Water changes without removing the CO² within the water column.
    2.. Providing admiration of the aquarium during the evening as well as keeping ambient light to a minimum.

    Ummm so if my medium light can go 80% of their lumen level, and you're dropping down the levels to that? My medium light that cost 75% less is the best bang for my money. This light has nice features. The sunset mode is dope af. But for costing 200 compared to my Hygger, I am impressed with my light. And this video just made me feel better about it. Great video, not trying to talk shit. But this gives me a lot of hope with my newer tanks, and the plants I am growing. :)

I battle algae on a frequent basis, and I am hoping the tips about not only slowly increasing light intensity over time, but also limiting blue light, will help. Watched your older video about it after i bought one as i had issues with blue algea so turned down the blues on my 15inch shallow tank a lot. had like 50% before now its like 2-3% and i hope they will vanish over time. I prefer to tune up the warm white like 5-10% more, the neutral one in the middle and the cold white 5% below the neutral white one.
    I start early morning with like 1% on all but blue to an 5% all whites and 15% pink. 6pm its at 15 pink, 2% blue, 45% cold/50% neutral/55% warm. till 12:30am it rises up to 35P/2B/50C/60N/65W and then sunset starts.
    somehow only the moss has blue algea and the other plants have just some fine hair algea on their leaves after nearly 5 weeks now.
    Thanks for the helpful video!

    I suppose you can just raise the light to at least 17inches, right (instead of maxing at 50%)? Specially if you are going for the more European aquascaping look... I have mine hanging at 22inches above tank bottom. I will lower it as I calibrate for algae.

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It has very good water resistance. But my question is what do you mean by a closed tank? If the intention is to have it under water the entire time, no. But if you're talking something where there's no open air above it because it's in a lid or something like that, but they're still space between the water and the lamp then yes, you should be fine

      @@BentleyPascoe many thanks for your reply. With closed aquarium I mean it has lids, but there will be a space of a few inches between the lamp and the water. My concern was due to water evaporation and condensation on the lamp. Thanks again, now I will be more safe in my purchase 😊

    Hi Bentley, I'm just setting up a 375 liter aquarium and thinking about this light. Will I need 1 or 2 of The Lights in my aquarium? Heavily planted. The size is 50 x 50 x 150 cm.

    • @BentleyPascoe
      @BentleyPascoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's going to depend on the light requirements of the plants. If you're mostly low and medium light plants, I think you can get away with just one light, but you're going to have some dim spots just because of the distance front to back in your aquarium. If you want to be absolutely certain, get two lights, get plenty of light in there and then you can turn the lights down if it's too intense.

    Awesome info! I was researching various lights and after watching Cory's video when it first came out, yours came up in the suggested. I have an Aquasky on my 10 gallon shrimp and like the app. I have Fluval 2.0's on a few tanks, but wanted to get a new light for my 55 new community tank and was looking at this and the Finnex. Biggest drawback for me was the warranty. I started to notice on the Nicrew lights the BBA outbreaks due to just white and blue leds. The planted Nicrew isn't bad as I have a dimmer timer. But I like the functionality of the app. I am going to check out the rest of your video on this light as I think this is one for me. Just based on the lower model Aquasky these are good lights and I love the 2.0, but I think this is the light for me after watch this video, Pretty sure after watch thr other videos it will seal the deal. Thanks for this in depth look.
