    Finding your channel has changed my entire perspective about my potential to be a visual artist! I taught public school music for 30 years, and retired in June. A friend encouraged me to try watercolor painting. I am ASTOUNDED by what I have been able to do-and it is all because of YOU, Sara, My former colleague (who was the art specialist at my school) couldn’t BELIEVE that I only started a month ago! Thank you for what you do!

    Heads up: if you try this tutorial, be aware that Sarah places her moon a bit too far to the right. It doesn’t line up properly with the reflection on the water. I just merrily painted along and didn’t notice this until I was finished. Thankfully, I was able to scrub and lift out the bleed-proof white moon and move it over to where it should be. Then I added some clouds to make everything not look quite so exactly centered (which is a compositional no-no.) All in all - still another wonderful tutorial by Let's Make Art!

    In this one tho I feel like the moon and it's reflection I the water are not lining up in a way that makes any sense. The original is lined up fine but the new one... I can't stop seeing the lack of connection between the object and its intended reflection.

    Thank you for drawing the waves. In the future, could you draw with a black marker instead of a pencil?

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be harder to cover the lines if you used a marker. Watercolor is transparent, it is beneficial to use light lines or watercolor pencil that will blend into your paint.

    • @mentalmadness5402
      @mentalmadness5402 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LetsMakeArt yes, pencil is best for the watercolour painting. I meant: Could you use a marker when drawing your example waves or warm up drawings? It would make it easier to see.

    Tape has never kept my paper flat... today was no different. It’s frustrating.
    Anyone have advice?

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can I ask what type of paper you are using? Depending on the cotton content and the weight paper will react to water differently. Taping it down can help curb some of the curling but there will often still be a bit of a buckle or wave. Sarah herself has talked about ironing her paintings when she finishes to help them lay flat again.

      I usually use the Strathmore 400 series, and I have about a dozen sheets of Canson XL I’m working through.
      I can fix a painting after it’s dry, but sometimes it ripples so much when I’m painting that I get puddles. :(
      It’s very dry where I live, I wonder if that contributes to it.

      Hi Kathie! We use the same two brushes on all of our projects. Every now and again Sarah will introduce a different brush but does test the project first to make sure those who follow along can do so with their Round 6 and Round 2. These brushes are very versatile when adjusting the brush stroke. The belly can be great for spreading paint, while the tip can handle details.
