You two are so awesome to watch and listen to in the morning (4:22 am here) before I start my day. Your positive light that comes from you and giggles from the two of you get me smiling while o drink my first cup of coffee!
Thank you for continuing to share your gifts with us. Beautiful work!

I use this wet on wet technique a lot. I love stretching my paper this way. One thing I do is dry around the paper after I wet it, that way the color doesn't bleed out as much. That is also how you get a clean edge.

Probably one of my all time favorites, having lived in Hawaii also, the skies there are absolutely amazing, and different than anywhere else I’ve ever lived.

You can stretch paper by taping it to your art board and then brush water over the surface before beginning to paint. Leave it to dry or begin painting if it's not too warped. I find on LMA paper works fine if it buckles is to leave it taped down and wait until the next day - the warp disappears for the most part. Gillian

You are awesome! Thank you for your encouraging tutorials. ❤️ I have been putting off doing skies, but this has given me what I need to try it. For that, I am grateful.

One evening in Ontario I saw some magnificent colours in a sunset and tried to paint but this technique will help so much! Thanks!

I have found if paper is warped, once it dries wet entire back of painting and put something heavy over the wet side until it dries. Paper is flat after

I keep forgetting you lived in Hawaii! I meet so many people that live parallel lives to me. I'm also a born and raised CA girl who lived in Hawaii and now I live in Colorado 😂

Sometimes I do what I guess is a hybrid of true "stretching" and taping where I tape it all down, uniformly wet the paper with a mop brush, and let it dry. So it's not wet for as long as stretching, and I can still get some peaks and valleys if I'm not careful, but it definitely reduces the warping vs when I don't do that at all. It's certainly faster than traditional stretching

You should probably mention that cheaper paper won’t hold up to soaking.
And for those who are wondering, you can flatten out your warped paper when you’re done and there’s a couple of ways to do it including pressing it or ironing it. And you can find those tutorials here in YT.

Skies are so hard to paint. I did it twice but have little "white" space so I might try it again. I don't hate them but I'm not pleased with the results just yet...

Ended up doing this 4 times. The last one is the one I am happiest about. Thanks for teaching me that its ok to paint something more than once!

My paper pilled up into little specks?

This is great, I will be trying it, thanks. Are you no longer providing the templates on your website? My aunt is in hospice, she loves eagles and I was going to try and paint your eagle head for her and I kept getting a page not found error when looking for it.

add /pages/outline-library to the end of the LMA website address. you have to make an account/login but they’re there

I love this. However, it's always so dry in southern California that my paper dries super fast. It makes it hard to keep the wet really wet.
