I had a teacher once who asked the classroom what superpower we would choose if we were magically granted the opportunity. Many said they would choose the power of flight, x-ray vision, invisibility, or even invincibility, and a variety of other superhero tropes. I got mixed reactions when I said I would choose the gift of tongues. Just the thought of it gives me goosebumps. If I could approach any human being on earth and communicate directly with the very essence of their being,.. earnestly, fluidly, honestly,.. I simply couldn’t imagine needing any additional power.
I identify with being a C.O.D.A. (Child of Deaf Adults) even if I'm not longer a child. American Sign Language is a HUGE part of my identify 💝 It is an unspoken language that speaks wavelengths 🌌It shaped how I view the world because of language differences of the communications and cultural differences between the Hearing and Deaf communities🌏✨️
We have very different experiences of ASL, it seems. I rely on ASL or PSE as I’ve been mute for my entire life, and I’ve just never encountered anyone else who know it. There is no community or culture when you’re the only one. I can’t shop at places that don’t have self-checkout, I can’t have friends or even do social activities with strangers because I’m completely excluded and ignored, most of my own legal case towards getting my T Visa excluded me because finding an interpreter was ‘too time consuming’, and my town couldn’t even find me ONE case manager who signs so I have to sit down with her and write and it makes us get so little done over the course of each appointment because it takes so long. Not being able to speak has been nothing but dehumanizing and a hindrance on my life. I’m glad there’s a signing _world_ out there for other people, but it doesn’t include all of us. :/
Some of your information is factually incorrect. 'Dalits' don't have their own language, no 'caste' does, all indians of the same region use the same language. All Maharashtrians use Marathi, all Gujaratis speak Gujarati, all Kannadigas speak Kannada.

Learning different languages opens your world up to so much more
It resonates a lot in Ukrainian-Russian language relations. Thanks
I 💯 resonate with being discouraged and forced not to speak the tribal language in school grounds. So much lost opportunity!
The Yoruba (South West Nigeria, parts of Brazil) word for a nation is "Orile ede" (text not yoruba-ly marked), translated The land of language
10:09 same damn thing in Senegal with French!!!
6:02 pure reality! I agree 💯
Quite informative!!
Very articulate

Language is Who we Are.
Language is a DNA that makes Music, Art, and Dance Special and Beautiful. ..if not (at times) Therapeutic and Orgasmic.

Ιs her name really Malaka? Like the Straits of Malaka, maybe?
Yes. It is really Malaka, but pronounced like, "Malaika" as in the song by Miriam Makeba

Πάτησα το βίντεο από περιέργεια να δω πώς πρεφέρεται το όνομά της, αλλά τελικά δεν το είπε...

There is no specific language respective to the class in India, your sources are absolutely incorrect
In America it’s just real American. Period.
Im sorry the internet taught you otherwise.
The internet? Whaaaa? Oh, I forgot. Trolls dont listen "too good", do they?
One of the worst TED talks I've seen in a long time.
This woman doesn’t represent how we see identity in the U.S. she only represents a fringe sect with a loud voice.
She never claimed that you grumpy old Troll. In fact, the opposite, you typical man who doesnt listen.
How do you see identity in the US?
White and non white lols.
Interesting opinion. How would you describe this "finge sect?"
Beware of language, for it is often a great cheat.
