  • Here's another requested video on the subject of how I paint flesh and faces, with a simple technique on how to quickly get them finished for the table. There's notes on alternative ways to paint skin, too, along with some other examples of ways you can finish something other than typical pale skin.

      I've also had some success using the Foundry range of skin tones, which are definitely worth checking out. Their darker tones work really well under a little Agrax Earthshade before highlighting!

      Very kind of you to say so. :) I'll just keep plugging along, doing my do - I'm honestly still stunned any time someone stops by to watch a thing, so as long as people continue to enjoy it, I'll keep going!

    Thanks for this advises, I am painting some bloodreavers and had trouble with dark skin tones. You also helped me with different light skin tones as well. The thing you say about skin tones and colours can be applied to the whole body, not only faces.

    Thank you so much for the recipes, especially the dark one. I eventually plan to paint some Tempestus Scions and the range of skin tones should really enrich the miniatures.

      Thank you. :) I think this one's a little slower-paced than some of the others, but it works. Painting faces can be a really fun part of finishing off a miniature.

    another smashing tutorial! i definitely think that not painting the miniatures eyes look so much better, and as far as painting faces go i really think that less is more - to the point that i almost prefer just a basecoat followed by a wash :P your methods are really nice though, because they don't go over the top and make the miniatures face look messy. cheers :)

      @SonicSledgehammerStudio  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! I've seen some people get really amazing results when they paint the eyes in, but I can never quite seem to pull it off to the same degree and - honestly, that lack of skill aside - I tend to think the rank and file still look better when they're not glaring into the distance. As far as simple, easy to replicate and effective on the tabletop, a wash in the sockets tends to do the job just fine for me.

    foundry,,,foundry...foundry.....lol...ive got about 200 the whole set and there really good ,i just use the shade as a glaze over the base colour then high lights and they turn out like eavy metal..i use a bow pen on terminators........well done china first channel ive seen using foundry

      I stumbled on to them quite by accident and haven't had an opportunity yet to pick any more up, but I am forever rambling about them to anybody who'll listen. I keep meaning to get my hands on some of the other triplet sets, though I wouldn't know where to begin outside of the skin tones! :D

    Excellent tutorial. May I ask what paint colours would you recommend for a British Indian Soldier fighting on the Indian Northwest Frontier also a Afghan Tribesmen. I'd be very greatful for any advice.

      Honestly, I'm really not sure - it's something very specific that I've not tackled before, personally. I'd thoroughly recommend checking out the range of Foundry paints for something along those lines, since they sell triplet sets of paint that're designed to get specific skin tones.

    • @SonicSledgehammerStudio

      I'm glad to know these help! As far as sticking these guys down, it's just blu-tac. It doesn't need to be particularly sturdy or permanent.

    Do you have an easy way to paint eyes too? They have always been my downfall.
