I purchased one of the evolution airbrushes you help create, may I get some help? When I purchased it, I was very ill; now I am healthy enough to use it and have some questions. If you have a video of getting started with it, that might be all I need. Thank you sir. steve
I am painting a tiny elvish girl/witch. She has a small roan wood wand that she is pointing about to release her spell. She is adorable. Thanks for all the tips. I’m 80 years old and have been painting one way or another for 3/4 of a century yet I am learning new things every day…and you are helping. It keeps me sharp and feeling young.
@@chrishagan9626 There's lots of magnifying headsets available. I'm middle-aged and started needing glasses a couple years ago, and all the headsets fit over them.
Hey Squidmar. I've rediscovered my love of painting through my 7 year old son. He inherited a huge Tau army from my brother in law who had unfortunately decided to grow up. This has led to me unearthing my original Eldar war host from the 90s and I sprayed over the awful rendition of Biel tan that I did back then with a zenithal and OMG these models are amazing. We are learning from each other all the time. My son Max painted his tau black and then smudged red into all the recesses and went over and neatened the panels with fresh black. For a 7 year old it looks better than I could have imagined. I'm 44 and I just used the same technique on my falcon grab tank. Wow. We love watching and we emigrated from the UK to Thailand and there isn't much of a GW presence here. So we're working with what we have and repurposing old models to the best of our ability. Thanks for all the inspiration. Following this video my wife, daughter, son and myself all have homemade wet pallets and we set aside time to listen to vinyl records and paint as a family. Thank you for keeping us informed and enthusiastic. Lee
Same boat except I have two Assault on Black Reach groups of Space Marines and my Space Hulk game pieces to paint. 6 yo is really getting into the 40k board games.
I'm probably one of your older followers, being in my 60s. Just want to say a big thanks, I am 'getting back into' this hobby for somthing to keep me interested in my retierment. I did some years back with the kids! But never got on top of the painting. Have bought a wet palette and some decent brushes. After a couple of weeks I now have 10 Stricking Scorpion at a fair table top standard. It makes painting a batch so much easer. Also I can paint in a diffrent place with only the palette some water and the mini to move, so I can sit and watch a battle report while painting. Once again many thanks.
so I am not too old to start painting minis, I guess - being a mid-50 I have learned about Warhammer through my son. I built scale models in my youth but focused on fine art painting then. Now it seems I am adding the miniatures again :)
I have some neurological issues in my hands that have kept me from even trying to paint small miniatures. I am so grateful for manufacturers like Wiz Kids for releasing larger models for those of us who don't wargame but still love painting. Next up are some treefolk!
as a guy with pretty shaky appendages (no real problems though), My best two tips are 1: cradling the mini in both my off hand and painting hand, anchoring my brush to the mini 2: sitting with my knees close to my face, and kind of pressing my arms against my legs to absorb shakiness. I know this might seem patronising since I don't know anything about you, so sorry about that.. ugh. thanks for the wiz kids recommendation anyways :)
Maybe look into getting a 3d printer. You can find files online for free or there are several great Patreon that have great models every month. One gold piece has about 4 separate models for a $1 each month. They are scaled for DnD but you can scale up to whatever size you want. If you go very much larger learn to hollow the model to save time and money.
I too have neurological issues that have worsened over the years. At one point in my life I was an award winning modeler. Now my tremors are so severe that I believed I would never paint scale models again. I started messing around with 3D printing. There is a bit of a learning curve but now I’m printing my own dioramas. What was once at 1/72 or 1/35th scale can now be at any scale I choose (within reason of course) my tiny minis I usually print around 200% larger. There are free files online to learn, you can buy files (.stl or .obj) or make your own after a while. Shaking hands don’t have to be our end. NEVER GIVE UP!
After putting down this hobby 10+ years, I recently pick it up again. I used to paint around 5 layers with mixing darker color to lighter color in 4:1 -> 3:2 -> 1:1 -> 2:3 -> 1:4. This took a lot of time and the result was not very great. Revently I pick up the hobby again and learnt wet palette from your video. This just speeds up my painting a lot with much better result. I can just take 2 colors and mix them on wet palette and it is so easy make gradient color. It is more like blending instead of layering. With wet palette it is so easy to achieve that! Thanks a lot for your sharing. Even after 10+ years of abandoning the hobby, I just level up my skill immediately.
Just started painting skaven after about 15 years of not being interested into the hobby at all. It’s so much easier now with all those great guys on TH-cam. Thx for the awesome tutorials. Really, really helpful for me right now. 👍👌
Wow! The difference from the dry palette i was using to the DIY wet palette i made for AUS $4 is phenomenal. In 5 minutes of work my blending and shading is noticeably better, not to mention consistency from one model to the next. Thank you so much!
I dig how genuine he was about this. I'm getting started and had been wondering if I should invest in a wet pallette. I feel like this video helped inform me on that decision a lot. Also I like that you periodically just pause for a moment, even just to be silly, because that helps give the viewer a moment to soak in the info. Instead of one giant endless dump of information.
I thought it was weird that he paused sometimes but y'know you're right - that talking style definitely helps with information overload and I appreciate it
A tip if you make your own wet palette of a plastic container. Use the lid instead for the base. You get rid of the high edges. Much better than the actual container. ;)
I used to paint minis way back in the day, perhaps 30 years ago. Loved it. However, life happened and I am just now getting back into the hobby. I found your channel and have watched a few videos. Even stumbled across some and thought, "Hey, here is this guy again." When I was painting as a kid, there were no communities of people, it was just me in my bedroom painting and having fun. Today, there seems to be so many more techniques, tools, and like this video - great assistance to help people do better. I appreciate your practical approach to helping out people who do what you do so well. Thank you for these and I look forward to watching others. Keep up the good work.
I am the "painter" for my rp gaming group so I am in a constant state of mini rotation. I do not even know what line or manufacturer the current batch are from. The tips you shared here will help me speed that up significantly, some great ways to improve the efficiency when using a wet pallet. Thanks for sharing them.
so recently I started a small miniature commission painting business I have only had 2 sales but I am only 13 so hopefully more come soon. I have a commission I'm recently working on it is for a Vietnam veteran and he is expected only 1 mini but I thought he deserved more for his services . So I am painting 4 minis for him. This is a hard task because I want them to look great so wish me luck and good luck squidmar miniatures you have really motivated me. Hope your channel grows more and more .
@@asiburger hey man thanks, my little brother is the one that posted that and he just recently gave all four to him. They look great! and he really liked them but thanks for the advice I'll let him know
@@williamleitz3551 Try to keep your very 1st mini as you will look back at it and be like " wow lol look how much i have improved lol " my 1st mini has so many layers on it you cant even see the face detail my other modles are much better not far from pro you can read and study all day long but you have to paint or you get no experiance have fun
6:23 this tip is literally a game changer for me. Taking a small amount of paint then stirring it into the brush was such a small yet crucial step that I've missed. Thanks!
After 6 months of watching your videos, I have taken the plunge and bought the cheapest acrylic paint and 3 brushes to paint a figure this week. Thank you for all your sage advice and hoping I don't beat myself up too much on the first figure
I just wanna tell you one thing: THANK YOU. I have considered making a wet pallet for a long time and your tutorial along with the list of pros made me do it today. It is very comfortable to use and makes painting easier as I don't have to fight with paints so much. Once again, thank you and keep up the good work, you have gained a subscriber, kind sir. :)
Retired & a 3D Printer Hobbyist, I'm just starting out on a new painting adventure to colorize my creations; and appreciate this DIY approach to try a Wet Palette.
Came back to this video to brush up on my wet palette knowledge. Quite a difference in your on-camera style back then, as compared to your latest videos :)
I just started painting this year, been watching a lot of TH-cam videos for tips, and that's how I come across your channel. I made my own wet pallet from a tuppaware box, but my biggest frustration is the sides are to tall, so I'm having to reach over to get my paints on. Love the video and looking to invest in one myself, so great to get your recommendations. I'm currently painting a bone devil from deepcuts
Great video and hello from Minnesota! Totally agree with the Everlasting Wet Palette. I started with an old clamshell with some foam from a 40k mini and some parchment paper. Eventually upgraded to a Masterson brand Wet Palette and it developed mold problems. I too bought the XL version of the Everlasting and it has been absolutely great. Plenty of space for multiple projects as well as enough space for multiple blends and NO mold.
I am painting up an Alarielle the Everchosen conversion mixed up with a ForgeWorld Carmine Dragon. And you made me want to change from paper towel to a sponge in my home-made palette now :) Thanks for that.
Just started yesterday painting. I have no experience in painting, even-less minis. I stumbled on your channel and Goobertown Hobbies before trying my hand at painting my Blood Bowl dwarf team. Just wanted to say thank you for the videos! They are so helpful!
Thanks for all these precious tips: I, after years of painting, didn't know about the metalic paints , the inks and the wet palette! Very useful and crystal clear!
I'm really enjoying how accessible you make the hobby. I've been collecting miniatures on and off for about 13 years, and I'm learning new things all the time. I'm currently working on my own Dark Angels successor chapter, a Baneblade and a khorne army for AoS. I've also just started collecting Bolt Action. The next step will be to progress into scale models such as armour and Gunpla. Hopefully a wet pallet will make all that much easier. Thank you and keep the excellent content coming.
Awesome video man.. I watch so many of your videos. Between you and Miniac, it helps me keep my painting "fresh" in my mind if I can't get to the table when I'm busy. Amazing techniques, narration, and editing! ALL ACES BROTHA!
stumbled upon this hobby when i was looking for a healthy outlet to vent some stress from work, being stuck in a hospital most days for 12+ hours can be draining and taxing on your mental health with all we see in there. Been glued to these videos and have started painting dark apostles and I think I'm going to take on some necrons or adeptus mechanicus next! Totally fell in love with the hobby from building to painting
I am painting up my T’au and Eldar 40K Combat Patrols and have finally taken the plunge and gotten my first wet Pallete. Over a decade into the hobby now, always appreciative of your advice and techniques Squidmar!! 🙏
Great video Emil! I've seen a few other DIY/how-to-use wet palette videos, but yours went into better detail about using a wet palette and how to get the right consistency of paint once it's on the palette. I'm a pretty novice painter and I'm just about to tackle my biggest project-- a Megaboss heavily inspired by the one you posted on P&P. I doubt I'll get close to the quality of paint jobs you can create, but I'm learning so much from your channel and having a blast painting (maybe a new wet palette might help!). You're quickly becoming one of my favorite YT channels full stop. Keep up the great work!
I just discovered the wet pallet a couple of months ago. Perfect. I just started painting minis and terrain. Your techniques are intuitive. I learned most before seeing any instructional videos. Thanks for filling in the gaps.
Hey Emil, that's an amazing video and a wet palette masterclass, thank you so much. My name is Marcos, I'm from Brazil, I do sclae plastic modeling since my 10 years and from the last 5 years I have joined Figures, Miniatures and Busts paiting. Your videos have helped me a lot learning tips to make my figures even better. I have built my own wet palette and I have another small one (pro) for quick paints. I totally agree with your comments and it will help me to my continuous improvement. Thanks once again.
Ditto- I just learned this too, and it does explain a few things. Think the metal flakes can be washed out of the sponge, or is it time to order a replacement?
@@aceofspades9503 just use a home made one for metallics. I use thick high absorption kitchen paper towels for mine, £0.50 for a whole roll, when I used metallics on it I just throw it away and cut up a new one... Have a separate palette (professional one if you like) for non metallics but I'd only ever put metallics on a home made disposable one
Ooopsie! Just found this out too. However I started down this route via table top minions tutorial on making your own wet palette. Then we got our paws on an everlasting et palette, (the orange one), and then I got the bigger blue one. Thus I still have sponges, baking paper, and a tub. All out of Tesco. So a metallic only palette is on the cards.
For those in hot humid environments that use AC in the summer. Store your closed wet palette near a window to avoid mold growth. Also, make sure to have a transparent top so the UV light can do its job. Dark and moist environments are bad, Mkay!
I just started watching your channel especially the tutorials. I am now relooking at my painted 40K miniatures differently. I hope this will be a new start because I feel many in this hobby struggle with, 'I just cannot paint any better!' I have acquired far too many figures to not enjoy my hobby. Thank you for making this hobby great again!!
Absolutely superb video man! I have just started painting wh40k again aftee nearly 15years, and I had no idea what a wet pallete or wash was as these were not used when I was last painting these miniatures. This has helped me no end as I have just took receipt of a new mega vellejo game color 72 set, army painter mega brush set, tamiya cutters and files, revel glu etc etc but I have bought one of these wet palettes and man does this thing do the business! Effortless to use, and blend colors together on the palette to add highlights across a spectrum without going dry within minutes. Thank you very much for your content has helped me a bunch gettin started again man 👍😃
Thanks for this video - really helpful, I'm going to switch from kitchen roll to dishcloth. I'm currently painting the minis for my Labyrinth board game.
Thanks for the tips about metallic paints and I’m going to try not diluting my paints on my wet palette anymore. Great video. I’m currently painting some Space Marine Reivers in the Raptor chapter :)
Let me just say. I find your video informative and inspirational. They keep me wanting to paint, so that's is why I became a patreon. I really enjoyed this discussion on wet pallets. I have been using a home made wet pallet and been using a paper towel. I really like your recommendation on the cellulose sponge which I did order and cannot wait to get. Currently, I am painting Stoneforged Guild Ball miniatures. I have two guilds in process Alchemists and Masons containing a total of 20 miniatures that are primed and waiting to be painted.
I just got me a wet palette and done some painting since its arrival yesterday. I didn't want to invest too heavily as I was curious what is all the fuzz about, so I got me one from Army Painter. Even after just a few hours of using it, I can say that this was already a worthwhile investment, just for not being forced to open the paint can anew every few minutes as the old paint has just dried out on the normal palette. I can't say how much time this alone saved for me, but I guess it's substantial. The most important thing for me is, that you don't have to drop the brush every few minutes and really get into a kind of flow when painting. So thanks for the recommendation, you've earned a new Subscriber (for what it's worth) - keep it up!
Just got a resin 3D printer, so I'm painting a lot of minis for D&D. Well, I'm printing a lot of minis, not painting nearly fast enough to keep up. I made a quick wet palette after watching a few other videos and really like it. I hate wasting mini paint because it dries up so quickly. Your tip about the metal flake paints was worth the like and subscribe. Look forward to watching more of your videos.
Amazing results from using wet pallet, I’m just getting back into painting minis after a 7 year break . You channel is great and I look forward to watching more 👍
A tip regarding parchment paper: If you dont want to cut a bunch, buy muffin or cup-cake baking paper cups. Atleast in Sweden, these are circular pieces of parchment that will flatten out neatly when you wet them. and they fit a small plate very well. For the purpose of the drawing, I am currently painting a Rohan army for Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game / Lord of the Rings!
Hey Rockfarmer, if the best choice is Non-Waxed Parchment Paper then how do I find that? All parchment paper that I find via Google is all cooking paper that has been waxed. If you have a name brand of non-wax paper I would greatly appreciate it. Peace!
I had no idea how to solve the issue of my paint drying out and getting clumpy while painting. This was 10 years ago and I just rediscovered my miniatures, and it inspired me to get painting again because I have so many that are primed but I never got painted. Thanks I needed this!
Hello Squidmar, I love your videos and have been watching them for a while now. I'm currently paintng a custom fall theme Sylvaneth army. I am enjoying painting them alot.
I just bought my first miniatures to paint, they are swordswomen and girls with crossbows, and some skeletons and zombies from reaper, but I mainly paint 6inch scale action figure heads. Through watching miniature painting videos I've learned a lot, and now with this video I feel I can move away from my homemade paint pallete made from water bottle caps glued down on card board to a home made wet pallete. And it makes more sense too with wet blending. I just subscribed to your channel last week, and have been watching a lot, thank you for your tips and tutorials and fun videos!
Just found this channel after buying my first set of paints. I play dungeons and dragons and have had all unpainted mini sets for a year now when I brought in some friends to run a game. I only have a beginners set of paints now but hopefully as I get more into this hobby I will expand my collection and get accustomed to the wet palette. Luckily I already have all the items sitting at home to make one!
I just love my Everlasting wt pallett. I often take my projects with me when i am in a hotel. Easy to transport and can continue painting the next day. Currently painting my Escher Necromunda Gang.
I've only been painting for about a month, and as soon as I saw this video I made up a wet pallet and let me tell you they are LIFE CHANGING. I've been painting up Stormcast Eternals and this video was such a big help, thank you!
Mr Squidmar, I just started using an Army Painter wet palette. Tonight was the first time that I had a metallic base paint on it. As I was watching this video, I sprinted downstairs and took the sheet with the metal paint off of my wet pallete. You saved my hydro-pad from D6 Mortal wounds!!! 😇
Just started painting my Necrons. Been painting my whole life (38 now) and love learning people's takes on painting to add to my toolkit. Thanks for your videos
I am now so much more confident mixing my paints because of this video. Just finished a squad of blood angel terminators with awesome highlights because of it.
Very good painting my friend. I just might drop a "meaty tip" for that "smooth ass butter"... 😆 couldn't resist lol but seriously. Great work guy, you got another sub 🤜
Loving the videos! They have helped me gain alot of confidence with my painting and im now trying things I thought to daunting before! Was wondering if you would be able to do a video about getting Games Workshop paints into dropper bottles as I've seen yours are all in them! Thanks and keep up the great work!
th-cam.com/video/p_OR2ZeMKNU/w-d-xo.html this one has the concept pretty well explained, I also used coffee stirrer to get more of the paint from my old bottles. This one didn't mention an agitator ball bearing but I found those really helpful for mixing the paints once in the dropper bottle. Metallics I usually drop 3 ball bearings into it. Just watched this the other day. I have an older wet palette and it works fine, but I went and ordered the Red Grass one. I have been following your tips and WOW they have really stepped up my painting game. I am faster, my blends are smoother and I am a happier painter. Thank you!
@@SquidmarMiniatures I have been painting for 25 years and learn something new from you every time I watch one of your videos (even when I repeat watching them). Thank you for your contributions to this community and hobby!
Just went to an expo and won a contest of fast painting with my very first miniature! I’m loving it I’m currently painting age of sígamar that was awarded as prize. Great videos
I've been watching how to paint tutorials for awhile, and I've already learned more advanced stuff from you in a handful of videos than in the last 5 years. Edit: oh and I'm painting Blood Bowl miniatures. Specifically I'm working on Goblins.
I’m new to miniature painting. I’m painting custom 3D printed 1:12 scale Predator figure accessories and your vids have helped me get off to a good start. Thanks!
Next up. This video about wet the palette was super eye opening. Although after an attempt at using a homemade wet palette hasn't remained a constant I loved this video because it really helped me with getting the right paint consistency and the importance of keeping good flow. When I looked at miniatures I painted about 10 years ago I realise my paint was super lumpy. This one video has improved my level massively to the point where I am getting quite a queue for commission work.
I subscribed simply because your tips help me be a better painter! Your no nonsense video’s have just the right amount of humor and still be to the point! So thanks and awesome stuff!!
Well this made a world of difference. I ordered the Red Grass one right away, and then made my own as you suggested while I wait for the pro version to arrive. Even my basic home made one (which is far from professional) made my painting life incredibly better and easier. Some of the best 17 minutes on TH-cam!
👑👑👑 I'm in the midst of releasing my dream miniature brush as well as some wonderfully sculpted miniature busts mid June 2020. It's something I'm really proud of and been working on for the better part of the last year. You can already pre register your interest on my Kickstarter page: bit.ly/3dKjmnz 👑👑👑
I just made my first DnD miniature today! It was a polar bear model I turned into a black bear with wounds, it turned out better than expected because of your tutorials and my dad’s guidance and help, and I wanna say thank you for making the tutorial video. You helped a lot!
5:20 Is that crack painted on the ceiling to give your room more character? 😂 Cheers 🍻 mate. 11:00 I’m wondering if you use wax parchment, what if you take a sheet and sandwich it between two sheets of sandpaper and place a bunch of books on it to grind small holes through it? Different grits of sandpaper could be used to provide different levels of wicking. This should last longer than unwaxed parchment paper. You could also make different sheets with varying amounts of grit or no grit so you can have a dry surface for mixing paints instead of using your finger/finger nail. Alternatively, you can just place a white bathroom tile on one side of the parchment paper for use as a dry palette. 12:00 What if you used the lid instead of the base for the wet palate? Then you can use the base to hold little cups of water. You can glue 12-20 cups to the base, fill them with water, and use them for washing brushes/thinning paints. This would reduce the number of times you would have to get clean water while utilizing more of the plastic container. If you use cups shorter than than the base of the container, they won’t smash the wet palate in the lid. If you space the cups out and cut notches into some of the cups, you’ll have horizontal stands for brushes that will allow you to place your brushes in the base in such a way that the hairs are submerged in the container base water but not smashed against the sides or bottom of the base. This will allow you to soak the brush tips allowing the pigments in them to dissolve into the water without destroying the hairs.
Warmest greetings Emil, from Phoenix Az, U.S. First off, I would like to THANK you! not only for the great videos that I've enjoyed for some time, but for personally inspiring and motivating me to once again pursue miniature painting. 25 years ago, having painted and modeled for over a decade, i was nearing master class. I have long since passed on my vast line of paints and materials to interested parties. I will be using your's as well as a few other sources to determine what I should start fresh with. I will be getting EWP, among the first of my new supply spree! :) thank you again and keep up the great painting and videos.
since i bought the wet pallet a year ago i don't want to miss it anymore. I even switched from the small to the large one. it also brought me forward in painting technology.
I've been using a home made wet pallet for over 3 years. Learned about them thanks to Tabletop Minions. I think I'm going to invest in a pro one now. I'm working on painting some Wrath of Kings models, I know it's an older game that isn't being supported anymore but I like they style of the mini's and bought a lot of them when they were on sale. The deep bases have forced me into uping my basing style too, that's how I discovered this channel.
I just came across your tutorial on the wet palette. Thank you for the information. I'm new to painting miniatures and have given myself a challenge. This challenge is a tribute to my wife's Great Grandfather who fought in the Boar war of m1902. We came across his medals and I thought to display them with a miniature of his regiment the 10 Hussars. Your tutorial has given me some hope of creating a refined display. Once again thank you. Chris
I live in the U.S and did a few test runs with a diy pallet using some of the stuff in the video. Huge difference and Great advice overall. This video helped alot
You probably don’t read comments on older posts but, thank you! I’ve recently got into mini painting and everyone said “use a wet palette” but I couldn’t figure out how to actually use it. This video (along with your encouragement to upgrade to Kolinsky sable) has transformed my painting. I was doing so badly I was tempted to give up but now I’m loving it! Thanks so much!!
Hey, I just today stumbled upon your channel, and heck, I paint for 15 years now and I learned a lot by just watching three videos of yours today. You are awesome. I play and paint Warmachine and Hordes, Gaslands, Infinity and it seems like I will be painting Warhammer again, specifically WarCry - that's how I came onto your channel; how to paint the Untamed Beasts. I was pondering on using a wet pallet a while now and I will give it a homemade shot following your recommendations. Thank you
This was super helpful. I am sitting down to paint my very first miniatures tonight. I finished assembling the space marines from the Indomitus box, a friend with an airbrush helped me prime them, and now I am about to paint. Wish me luck.
Thanks for the videos squidmar, I just started painting last week and I'm really enjoying having your videos for learning techniques and watching your recommendations for what tools to use to make the experience better.
I am painting DnD minis, I've started with a troll, then made 4 ghouls, an Aasimar Fighter, a Tiefling Rogue, and now I'm just finishing up a challenging manticore I wanted to try out. I wish I could show you how its turning out cause I'm impressing myself for just starting last week!
Really enjoying your videos. I decided to encourage my girlfriends son and his friends into taking up miniature painting and gaming, just as a bit of variety from playing video games. I chose to run with Gamesworkshops Heroquest first, I loved it as a child and decided to paint the models to bring the game to life. What I wasnt anticipating was how much I'm enjoying myself and how relaxing it is! I've painted the core game miniatures as best as I can and I bought a load of additional orks and goblins so that when we finish the prescribed quests we can have son fun with home made ones including a few ork warbands fighing one another. It's given me the opportunity to practice layering with the wet pallet (as shown in your videos) and its working out really well so far :D
Squidmar, I want you to know that I found this video really helpful. I’ve been using wet paper towels and napkins for a while as a wet pallet without understanding what could be better. I really enjoy your content and your humor. Keep up the good work.
I'm relatively new to the painting hobby. I'm part way through painting a Kings of War, Empire of Dust army. So many small but cool minis, I'm learning new things every day. I feel like my next step it to start using a wet palette. Thanks for the video.
Painting Descent 2 minis and Scythe minis. Best channel ever, thanks Squidmar! Super helpful and well produced content. I find the plastic on the Scythe minis is terrible for holding paint even after priming twice. I guess not all plastic is the same.

Lee

Good 40k group at battlefield bangkok
Lovely story.👍

Once again many thanks.
striking scorpions, is that a chaos deamon engine?
@@davidekstrom9595 Hi Dave, no its the 40K Eldar scorpions.
Sorry for the late comment, but this just made my day.
so I am not too old to start painting minis, I guess - being a mid-50 I have learned about Warhammer through my son. I built scale models in my youth but focused on fine art painting then. Now it seems I am adding the miniatures again :)
One of, but there's more of us about - 46 here and just starting out!
@@mooncatcher1572 lol I wish I had read this. I just said the same thing!😂
I would also add, try to get a miniature holder, along with the tips mentioned in this thread, helps me a lot with my tremor.
What a legend, thanks for the dono man!
Just started painting skaven after about 15 years of not being interested into the hobby at all. It’s so much easier now with all those great guys on TH-cam. Thx for the awesome tutorials. Really, really helpful for me right now. 👍👌
Same here...havent painted in 20 years. Now im craving to use my free time to sculpt and paint.
Lol really? I started with Skaven a week ago after 18 years :D

I use the Sta-Wet palette and I'm so happy with it. Painting has gotten much easier and smoother since getting it.
Great Vid!
Glad I watched that this, did not know a bout metallic paints and it explains a few things
I found a smaller wet palette on sale a few months back and started using it exclusively for metallics. Who knew I was doing a smart thing?
Durzod
If I understand this correctly, it still deteriorates the metallic paints. Better tonuse a regular palette for them
Just learned about this too
Ditto- I just learned this too, and it does explain a few things.
Dark and moist environments are bad, Mkay!
but then you miss out on another great hobby... Bacteria collecting; Gotta catch um all!

Squidmar Miniatures keep up the great work!
Yay! Thank you for tip and great choice for painting.
Hey Rockfarmer, if the best choice is Non-Waxed Parchment Paper then how do I find that? All parchment paper that I find via Google is all cooking paper that has been waxed. If you have a name brand of non-wax paper I would greatly appreciate it. Peace!
I've been using a wet pallette for a while but fair play, you have shown me some incredibly useful things here!
I had no idea how to solve the issue of my paint drying out and getting clumpy while painting. This was 10 years ago and I just rediscovered my miniatures, and it inspired me to get painting again because I have so many that are primed but I never got painted. Thanks I needed this!

Next up. This video about wet the palette was super eye opening. Although after an attempt at using a homemade wet palette hasn't remained a constant I loved this video because it really helped me with getting the right paint consistency and the importance of keeping good flow. Thx for the tips... I really like the idea, that my paints won't dry so fast anymore!!!
Metallic paints dont leak through the parchment. They could spread on top of the pallet and infest other paints if you're not careful though.

Why are the brushes so expensive?
5:20 Is that crack painted on the ceiling to give your room more character? 😂
Cheers 🍻 mate.
I just came across your tutorial on the wet palette. Thank you for the information. I'm new to painting miniatures and have given myself a challenge. This challenge is a tribute to my wife's Great Grandfather who fought in the Boar war of m1902.
My 3 year old daughter and I just painted our first minis. Basic reaper skeleton for me. DnD sorcerer for her. Fun and relaxing. Thanks for the tips.
I am painting XV8 Crisis Suits for my Tau army in Warhammer 40k. Just found your channel and just wanted to say that your content is great.
