This gel recipe has transformed my hair. It’s nourishing yet still provides hold without my hair being crunchy. I’ve able to go an extra week before wash day and probably could have gone another few days if my scalp wasn’t itchy. My hair is so much more manageable and the only thing I’ve changed in my routine is the gel. Thank you!
Doesn’t your hair get flakes/residue after 2-3 days from this gel? It’s like my hair is full of dust😭 but my hair really loves it, I just don’t know what to do about the flakes
@ it doesn’t flake for me. If you’re using other products under it, it’s possible they don’t mix well. I always test products with the gel in my hand before putting it on my hair.

Thank you so much for your great help with making gels. You make it seem so easy so following your lead is a pleasure. Although, I have a question. I want to add my Ayurvedic herbal extracts in my gel for their healthy and amazing qualities. I'm thinking of making them into a tea. Strain well and use that as my water base. What do you think? Is there another way that I can do it? Thanks so much in advance.
I just made this with xanthan gum. And finally I found a DIY gel that works for me. I put a bit on my hair to test it and it is good as is but I am gonna add 1 tbsp conditioner and 1 tbsp oil. I made a batch of about 2cups ( cos I must always be extra y'know😂). Flax seed gel is just too much effort considering I can only make enough for a week. The xanthan gel is no effort and no cooking or messinvolved plus it looks better than flax seed gel on my hair. Next week's batch will have some aloe vera gel added. I have 3b/c curls and this just works fantastically on my hair. Good enough clumping and hold without the wet look. Edit- I have been using it for almost a week now. Everyday I would rnse my hair in the shower and reapply. Today I spritzed with water and just had to reshape here and there. So I wasted time and gel by rinsing it out everyday cos thats what I always did with other gels. This is a game changer.
WholeElise , isn’t there a way to stabilise this if oils are added, like an emulsifier? As someone with 4c hair, I can certainly understand the temptation to add oils; it would turn this into a nice 1-stop product 😃 x
Snap I added the water too suddenly Pressed the whole mix through a sieve with a silicone spatula...Right as rain FAB gel! THANK YOU Queen Whole Elise!
I made this gel & it is pretty amazing! I am in the US so finding preservative ECO was a dead end road for me. I am not sure if the UK can ship liquids to the US. If a preservative isn't added, do you know how long this gel will last rather it's in the fridge or not?
I made this a couple days ago. Used the 50/50 reality aloe Vera and water. No wheat protein. Today is my wash day and I will give it a try. I used Xanthan gum. I looked at the gel today and it turned pink! Anyone else have that happen?
My hair is dead straight but I (weirdly) have curly edges and side burns that can be quite hard to tame and a lot of gels just won’t hold them down, would this work for me? Btw I love how you make natural diy products so simple and easy🥰 I’m really into making my own products and channels like yours are my saving grace 🙏🏼❤️God bless xx

Thanks a lot for the video, please can I add oils to the final result ?
You're welcome! I wouldn't recommend it, because this is a water-based recipe if you add oils they won't mix and will separate from the gel 😊
WholeElise , isn’t there a way to stabilise this if oils are added, like an emulsifier? As someone with 4c hair, I can certainly understand the temptation to add oils; it would turn this into a nice 1-stop product 😃 x
@@newlightning2306 You will need to add BTMS.
I made this once and it came out perfect. The next time the glycerin and xanthan gum mixture turned the whole mixture clumpy. What did I do wrong?
Brandi McLellan Me too. It was still effective, I wonder if it needed to be mixed more vigorously?
@@twintea7z I figured it out. I didn't let the glycerin an xanthan sit for 20 mins. It was too long of time
Snap I added the water too suddenly Pressed the whole mix through a sieve with a silicone spatula...Right as rain
FAB gel! THANK YOU Queen Whole Elise!
Video on raising and lowering the Ph?
I made this gel & it is pretty amazing! I am in the US so finding preservative ECO was a dead end road for me. I am not sure if the UK can ship liquids to the US. If a preservative isn't added, do you know how long this gel will last rather it's in the fridge or not?
I made this a couple days ago. Used the 50/50 reality aloe Vera and water. No wheat protein. Today is my wash day and I will give it a try. I used Xanthan gum. I looked at the gel today and it turned pink! Anyone else have that happen?
Is there another kind of protein one can use other than wheat? I’m very sensitive to it.
Excellent excellent EXCELLENT tutorial and explanations. I have to subscribe
Your voice is so soooooothinggggg 💖💖 I feel so relaxed watching this . You've helped me greatly in making my own hair gel as I specialize in locs .
Have you ever used pectin? It's the main gelling agent in Camille Rose Curl Maker... would xanthan gum do the same job? Love you videos btw
Thank you so much Whole Elisa for this great knowledge.
I realized after watching your videos I am left more confused in good way thou. Half of the stuff you talk about I have no clue about hence the confusion but your videos are really good.
Love this hair gel. Can I add oil to this mixture for my skin? I would like to make a skin oil gel. Thank you and great video!
Another amazing video, you are a life saver. Looking gorgeous as usual and your voice is soo soothing my goodness! Quick question what kind of changes can be done to make a gel that one can use in braiding hair. Like in the salon. Thank yoouu😍😍
This looks so good but I wonder what the hold is like.
Me too, I'm gonna make and try it
When should we use this
After hairwash or before hairwash as hair mask?
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Thank you!! 😊
