After the flaxseeds and water soak for some time, the water will become thick and gel like. So, yes add everything into the herbal water.

You're welcome .... Concerning your length, I suggest you revisit every step of your regimen including how u handle your hair and what your eating. Rebuild your whole regimen with what you have learned for my videos and stick with it for 6 months. After six months see if you notice a change with your hair.

Very interesting, I saw another naturalista make her own flaxseed hair gel and again, I love DIYing, it just makes sense over being a PJ! lol However, I have 2 huge jars of Ecostyler Gel and have used it for years. However, with any gel, I always base my hair with coconut, and JBCO before applying the Ecostyler Gel. Thanks for this though, when I finish with the Ecostyler, I can clean out the jars and make my own flaxseed gel! Yay Me

  • @alliphil1

A wire mesh strainer works more easily for me for straining. Effortless. Just be sure to pour it into the strainer over a glass cup or bowl right off the stove - no cooling. Love this thick flax seed gel although I skip the herbal part and use just plain water.
Stored in a canning mason jar in the refrigerator mine has lasted as long as 6 weeks. When it's cold I do I whisk in 1/3 cup Hawaiin Silky Dry Look Gel Activator to 1cup flaxseed gel as my hair likes glycerin. I get bounce and shine with that combo. Wash and go lasts 4-6 days.
UPDATE: Using a large mouth funnel, I now pour the gel/Hawaiin Silky mixture into those plastic ketchup/mustard condiment bottles you can find at walmart for like one dollar. The condiment bottles work great for squeezing out the gel but make sure you get the ones with a larger spout since the gel is pretty thick.

Actually growing your hair to a certain length depends on how good you take care of your hair and on your hair texture. Because I was able to grow my hair to waist length in 5 years from shoulder length.

I think genetics plays the biggest role also.. I my self have type 4 hair but my hair grows about an inch a month were I have a caucasion friend whos hair takes alot longer to grow than mine so genetics is key as far as growth speed but a good regimine is key for lenth retention alot of us grow hair alot faster than we think its just hard for some people to retain that lenth especially afro textured hair.. Like i can shave my hair completely bald and with in 6-7 months itll be 6 inches again which was very annoying when I would keep my hair short because I use to spend sooo much money in that barber every other week getting it cut again.. Trust me fast hair growth can be a curse if you like to keep your hair short it
      aint nothing special.. 😔

Anyone have some advice or input for me??: I'm thinking of making diy oat gel soon for my eczema-prone skin and scalp! I'm hesitant bc there's so much less info out there compared to flaxseed or even aloe vera gels.
Still wanna go for it, since oats are dirt cheap. I'll maybe add some aloe leaf from my huge outdoor plant if I want it thicker.
Never really used hair gels until I went fully natural, so its ALL pretty new to me! (My hair is high-po; fine strands; medium density; mostly 3c/4a with some 4b texture at my crown area)

I am a new subscriber and I love your channel. The porosity levels and testing was new to me. MY HAIR is very dry and easily breaks. MY HAIR is all natural, no chemical use for about 5 years. I took the strand test and my hair did not move; it sat on the top of the glass of filtered water. I don't know where to begin with buying products that will penatrate the hair shaft. I THINK I am over thinking this new information.

I'm definitely going to try the gelatin one. I was wondering what would cause flaxseed gel to dry out hair and make it crunchy? I've made 3 different batches of flaxseed (with different ingredients), and every time my hair ends up drier than it's ever been with anything else. It literally feels like straw, and I have to condition several times before my hair feels like it has any moisture in it? What would cause this? The ingredients I've used are the flaxseed gel, grape seed oil, castor oil, vitamin E oil, water infused with rosemary, and once I put a pinch of Epsom salt but because of the dryness I never did it again. I also made a batch of just flaxseed. All of them resulted in straw

on the water only washing method, the fsg strips the natural sebum. Maybe because there is a barrier between the hair cream and gel, since she uses the LOC method, does not dry out the hair???I don't know, just reaching out some type of reasoning. I used to use fsg and it would feel great...it sometimes made my hair feel a little dry but not all the time. I tried it with the MHM method but added marshmallow root; Rachel cpr's recipe

    • @rosesnewbeginning3547
      @rosesnewbeginning3547 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Try the loc/ lco/lo or lc method before you style with the gel it gives a barrier and moistere and the gell locks it un even more. And then when its dry and formed a cast scrunche it with an oil on your hands to break the cast and oil any frizz or flyaways or 0refent flakinga. Goid luck

If anyone is interested in other 🌱 vegan options (for a lighter gel without using gelatin), okra can be used in the same way as flax seed, sea moss and snow mushrooms can be cooked and blended as gel, also a lesser amount of flax seeds will produce a lighter gel.
Love animals and protect your health: Go vegan 😉

You can definitely fenugreek. The best thing about DIYs is that you can be as creative as you like

Green beauty always takes that extra step. Love your videos and how much work you put into it. But how long do both gels last in the refrigerator and on shelf?

relaxer then you might be over moisturizing. Just spend a lot of time examining the feel and luster of your hair. Note the texture, feel, and shine when it's doing really well, as well as when it won't cooperate or is acting sort of wacked. Good luck!
