You're welcome .... Concerning your length, I suggest you revisit every step of your regimen including how u handle your hair and what your eating. Rebuild your whole regimen with what you have learned for my videos and stick with it for 6 months. After six months see if you notice a change with your hair.
Very interesting, I saw another naturalista make her own flaxseed hair gel and again, I love DIYing, it just makes sense over being a PJ! lol However, I have 2 huge jars of Ecostyler Gel and have used it for years. However, with any gel, I always base my hair with coconut, and JBCO before applying the Ecostyler Gel. Thanks for this though, when I finish with the Ecostyler, I can clean out the jars and make my own flaxseed gel! Yay Me
thank you for taking your time to come up with these great alternatives for styling our hair instead of using harsh store bought items. thank you again
Hopefully, you still receive comments and questions on older videos. I started watching Greenbeauty a few days ago. Every video has been informative and inspiring. I'll be making flaxseed gel today. I was wondering if you've ever tried agar agar to make a gel and what are the differences.
you are the best, I don't know how often I made a flaxseed gel and threw it right after because I wasn't able to sieve it, now you made it possible thanks GreenBeauty
Anyone have some advice or input for me??: I'm thinking of making diy oat gel soon for my eczema-prone skin and scalp! I'm hesitant bc there's so much less info out there compared to flaxseed or even aloe vera gels. Still wanna go for it, since oats are dirt cheap. I'll maybe add some aloe leaf from my huge outdoor plant if I want it thicker. Never really used hair gels until I went fully natural, so its ALL pretty new to me! (My hair is high-po; fine strands; medium density; mostly 3c/4a with some 4b texture at my crown area)
Thank you as always for the product knowledge. I feel this is helping natural women feel empowered to take better steps in caring for their hair....love to you...
I am a new subscriber and I love your channel. The porosity levels and testing was new to me. MY HAIR is very dry and easily breaks. MY HAIR is all natural, no chemical use for about 5 years. I took the strand test and my hair did not move; it sat on the top of the glass of filtered water. I don't know where to begin with buying products that will penatrate the hair shaft. I THINK I am over thinking this new information.
A wire mesh strainer works more easily for me for straining. Effortless. Just be sure to pour it into the strainer over a glass cup or bowl right off the stove - no cooling. Love this thick flax seed gel although I skip the herbal part and use just plain water. Stored in a canning mason jar in the refrigerator mine has lasted as long as 6 weeks. When it's cold I do I whisk in 1/3 cup Hawaiin Silky Dry Look Gel Activator to 1cup flaxseed gel as my hair likes glycerin. I get bounce and shine with that combo. Wash and go lasts 4-6 days. UPDATE: Using a large mouth funnel, I now pour the gel/Hawaiin Silky mixture into those plastic ketchup/mustard condiment bottles you can find at walmart for like one dollar. The condiment bottles work great for squeezing out the gel but make sure you get the ones with a larger spout since the gel is pretty thick.
flaxseeds have protein too though. my hair always flakes from it because of protein overload. I want to try okra or aloe vera gel. I hear oat gel is good also
Bubble gum Pop I'm thinking of making diy oat gel soon for my eczema-prone skin and scalp! I'm hesitant bc there's so much less info out there compared to flaxseed or even aloe vera gels. Great video. What benefits does chamomile have with he flaxseed gel? I will be trying this DYI flaxseed gel this weekend. Trying to find a gel that works with my hair type and texture.
Green beauty always takes that extra step lol. Love your videos and how much work you put into it. But how long do both gels last in the refrigerator and on shelf?
Hello, I have seen one of your videos a while back and huni i thought i had subscribed to your page but after that day i didnt see ANY videos i was pissed lol lol lol UNTIL TODAY 10-9-13 i see you have uploaded a video........ I was so happy to see your face. I did subscribe after all. Like all other subs say you are my hair angel and a blessing to me.Its alot of youtubers i like but they arent as easy quick i wana say to getting to the point.YOU ARE so thanks soooo much God bless u.
Clearly a very moisturizing recipe. Injust made it and it's really a good thick consistency and it really.moisturizes my dry hair. Thank you for sharing
Is the gelatin water-soluble?Will it easily wash out with water only? Not sure if it will cause build up. I know it sounds like a stupid question but I'm still asking. That's how you learn! If anyone knows please chime in. tia
How long is the shelf life of your flax seed gel mixture in if I keep it in the fridge? And if I use it to make a leave-in conditioner, how long is the shelf life if I keep it in the fridge?
I'm definitely going to try the gelatin one. I was wondering what would cause flaxseed gel to dry out hair and make it crunchy? I've made 3 different batches of flaxseed (with different ingredients), and every time my hair ends up drier than it's ever been with anything else. It literally feels like straw, and I have to condition several times before my hair feels like it has any moisture in it? What would cause this? The ingredients I've used are the flaxseed gel, grape seed oil, castor oil, vitamin E oil, water infused with rosemary, and once I put a pinch of Epsom salt but because of the dryness I never did it again. I also made a batch of just flaxseed. All of them resulted in straw
on the water only washing method, the fsg strips the natural sebum. Maybe because there is a barrier between the hair cream and gel, since she uses the LOC method, does not dry out the hair???I don't know, just reaching out some type of reasoning. I used to use fsg and it would feel great...it sometimes made my hair feel a little dry but not all the time. I tried it with the MHM method but added marshmallow root; Rachel cpr's recipe
Try the loc/ lco/lo or lc method before you style with the gel it gives a barrier and moistere and the gell locks it un even more. And then when its dry and formed a cast scrunche it with an oil on your hands to break the cast and oil any frizz or flyaways or 0refent flakinga. Goid luck
Hi there I love your videos! Question...I use a lot of curl defining creams (I'm about a 4 b/c type), I've made flax seed gel before but never for curl definition, can it be used for that as I'd like to step away from 'packaged products' for a while. Thanks for your reply.
Actually growing your hair to a certain length depends on how good you take care of your hair and on your hair texture. Because I was able to grow my hair to waist length in 5 years from shoulder length.
I think genetics plays the biggest role also.. I my self have type 4 hair but my hair grows about an inch a month were I have a caucasion friend whos hair takes alot longer to grow than mine so genetics is key as far as growth speed but a good regimine is key for lenth retention alot of us grow hair alot faster than we think its just hard for some people to retain that lenth especially afro textured hair.. Like i can shave my hair completely bald and with in 6-7 months itll be 6 inches again which was very annoying when I would keep my hair short because I use to spend sooo much money in that barber every other week getting it cut again.. Trust me fast hair growth can be a curse if you like to keep your hair short it aint nothing special.. 😔
I'm so happy I came across your you tube channel, very detailed and informative Thank you so much!!!. I noticed you placed the finished flaxseed gel in the fridge, is supposed to be kept stored in the fridge or can it be kept at room temperature?
Also, I have seen in other videos that gelatin is for protein treatment so won’t I have a protein overload if I should use the gelatin as a regular hair gel
Are those aromatherapy essential oils? Just wondering if there are special kinds of essential oil just for hair or can you just use aromatherapy essential oil that are used for massages and things like that?
can you use any other herbs in order to make the herbal hot oil treatment for the flaxseed gel? I'm having trouble getting the horsetail and chamomile cost allot here?
Have you ever done a comparison between okra gel and flaxseed to see which worked better for natural hair? I've used okra gel in the past and while the slip was amazing, I wasn't sure about the healthy hair benefits.
And more thing, how long does these two recipes last? I've seen people use crushed Vitamin C tablets or tea tree oil to preserve the gel...is this necessary?
May ask what's the ph of the flaxseed gel? And can I use fenugreek seeds instead of chamomile? Also some people use the gel as a mask they apply it after shampooing their hair including scalp and then rinse it and style as usual, is it okay to do so?
Allaysia Wilson, from my experience you can simply use more flaxseed and the longer it boil the thicker it gets. Soaking the seeds overnight before boiling is great.
You're welcome .... Concerning your length, I suggest you revisit every step of your regimen including how u handle your hair and what your eating. Rebuild your whole regimen with what you have learned for my videos and stick with it for 6 months. After six months see if you notice a change with your hair.
After the flaxseeds and water soak for some time, the water will become thick and gel like. So, yes add everything into the herbal water.
Same as okra?
I’m not gonna lie it took me THREE 👆🏿👆🏿👆🏿 times to make this and I finally got it right and GIRL!!!! This stuff is AWESOME!!!! Thanks for sharing!
I agree with you.
More detailed information/instructions would be needed . Because this is awesome recipe.

Wow! The application bottle is such a great idea! I'm doing this next time I make gel👍🏾
thank you for taking your time to come up with these great alternatives for styling our hair instead of using harsh store bought items. thank you again
Thanks for sharing. I had never heard about soaking the seeds overnight before boiling.
Your flaxseed gel is the bomb for my very low porosity hair. Thank you!! Much love and respect!
Your straining method is quite brilliant!
GREAT IDEAS.. THANK U!
I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE STRAINER FOR THE FLAX GEL.
What is the shelf life for your FSG?

Wow, I love your technique of straining your flaxseeds. This is way better than my mashing technique, lol, so I will definitely try this in the future.
Will these hair gels ever be for sale on your website?
Thank you as always for the product knowledge. I feel this is helping natural women feel empowered to take better steps in caring for their hair....love to you...
You do a very good job with all your videos, great quality and very informative. Thanks ! :)
Just want to make sure i didnt miss it... are u adding just the soaked seeds into the herbal water or the seeds and the water they soaked in? Thanks
She commented a little earlier at the seats in the water they were soaking in

Can you add more gelatin to the 2nd recipe for a stronger hold?
I think I will try this again thanks to you! I'd like to add a natural preservative to the mix any suggestions?

Looks like a great 👍🏽 recipe to try
Thanks. I've been reading other hair growth remedies and they use lots of vitamins which I'm not ready to start using because I'm lazy.
Wow i never knew we could do this so easily at home, ill try to cook up some facial gels with your gelatin method :)
This is the best idea yet for staring flaxseed gel.How long does it keep in the fridge for Thank-you

It don't matter how long you take to grow ur hair, grow it!! Your here for helpful tips not a length race...
thank you for sharing your diy
So what else did you add to the flaxseed gel at the end?
I never heard that either. However I am going to try it just so I don't burn my hands any longer..

This is so insightful! Are there any other herbs you can recommend for this?
You are my hair angle and a blessing :-)
It took me four years to get it from ear length to waist. I cut it few times in those years too.
How did u achieve this length?
Can't wait to try them...thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the great information
how do you make the herbal hot oil treatment? I would like to make some at home as well ^^
Actually growing your hair to a certain length depends on how good you take care of your hair and on your hair texture. Because I was able to grow my hair to waist length in 5 years from shoulder length.
Jazzmyn Williams Everyone’s hair grows at a different pace depending on your background, but yes I do agree you have to take care of your hair.

Can i use chia seeds instead?....and can i use other herbs apart from that?
Yes, you can definitely be as creative as you want with natural DIY ingredients
Can I add a preservative to this and keep it outside the fridge?
Could I use the herbal infused water as a herbal hair rinse.
Love it! I wish you sold this! Because I'm tooo lazy lol
What about using a sieve as opposed to the applicator bottle?
I'm so happy I came across your you tube channel, very detailed and informative Thank you so much!!!. I noticed you placed the finished flaxseed gel in the fridge, is supposed to be kept stored in the fridge or can it be kept at room temperature?

Are those aromatherapy essential oils? Just wondering if there are special kinds of essential oil just for hair or can you just use aromatherapy essential oil that are used for massages and things like that?
Fabby M ensure they can be used in hair. I use lavender oil or tea tree oil or peppermint as my main essential oils for hair
What is the substance or cream in the bottom of the bowl when you are getting ready to squeeze the gel from the applicator bottle?
I live in Ghana and I will want to know if it’s good to add glycerin to my recipe due to the hot weather conditions here. Thank you
Thanks for sharing!
Can i use water as a base or any other herb like fenugreek?
You can definitely fenugreek. The best thing about DIYs is that you can be as creative as you like
@@GreenBeauty thanks Greanbeauty. You are the best👍🏾❤️
Thank you

Colanah it has benefits for the body and hair
According to the dictionary one can pronounce the word herb with or without the h. Everybody wins.
I like the way she pronounces it :)
Herbybody wins🥒
And why people tripping???! She can say herb however she wants….
These words are so small to see the recipe
Woww.. Does the gelatin gel contain sugar?
Can I use oats gel as a substitute.
can this recipe for the strong gel give a strong hold?
Would I be able to add the gelatin recipe to ur leave in recipe for more hold?
How long does the flaxseed gel last before it goes bad
She said in her video ....6 weeks with refrigeration and 4weeks without
LUVLYLDYPEACHEZS you only have a little over a month to use all of it?
True... I use it like EcoStyler. Goes fast.. Also I have had last longer then a month and still uses it. It's natural so I figured its OK.
Have anyone ever used Xanthan gum gel?
INTJxx KS curl mix (check them out) uses them all the time they say it's a natural product that helps preserve shelf life
Can this gel be used for styling
I live in very cold and humid north of Germany (days without rain are rare), would doing this flax seed gel WITHOUT glycerin help to fight frizz?
Flax seed gel (with or without glycerin), in general, should be helpful for reducing frizz more so due to the weight it creates on your hair.
The only way to truly know is to try it b/c everyone's hair responds differntly.
Excellent question! I live in Florida and glycerin is my enemy! 😂
And more thing, how long does these two recipes last? I've seen people use crushed Vitamin C tablets or tea tree oil to preserve the gel...is this necessary?

I'm not sure what the ph of flaxseeds but fenugreek is very alkaline.
@@mymiracle79 , then why bother to reply if you don't know the answer to either of the questions?🤨
Lol thank you so much :-*
Does gel need to be within the 4-6 ph level as well since it is water based? Thank you
Wait I thought gelatin adds a lot of protein to hair? Or is it based on the dilution :o
Do you use vitamins for hair growth?
Please what does glycerin do to the gel?
I dont think it takes 7 years to grow waist length hair..that seems way too long
It takes 4-5 yrs
Stephania Santos lol it takes me YEARS just to grow past shoulder length
Stephania Santos that's what I thought too.
Stephania Santos Yeah, I think she's talking about shrinkage. To see your hair actually falling down to your waist it does take that amount of time.
kinda made me look hope for a second. my hair is approximately bra strap length and I was hoping for waist length hair by the next 2 years.
Name of herb please
@greenbeauty! Where are you? It’s been forever. I hope you will be back soon and your products too!!❤
if I DO NOT HAVE GLYCERIN is there something else I can us?
Thank you so much for your wonderful tips. I'm a new subbie. ^_^.
How long will it last on shelf before spoiling?
Does it have to be refrigerated or can it stay room temp
What can you add to flaxseed gel to get a stronger hold?
NaturalCurls4Life, if you still looking for an answer, you can strengthen the hold using marshmallow root. 👌
Elizabeth Roblyn what can I use in flaxseed gel for a thicker consistency like similar to the ones I see in stores
Allaysia Wilson, from my experience you can simply use more flaxseed and the longer it boil the thicker it gets. Soaking the seeds overnight before boiling is great.
Elizabeth Roblyn thank you 😊
Can you use ground flaxseeds??
Where do you buy your flaxseeds? And is there another alternative to the flaxseeds.
I have seen people use okra and aloe as alternative gel
I wish I had time to make this!! Will you be selling it in your store?
Any other option for herbs for tue Flax seed gel? I dont think i can find it in India...
