I bought the 880 in 2023. Added a Tasco Air 3-9 ×40 AO scope. H&N Field Target Trophy pellets 8.64gr. / 4.52 head size, its pellet on pellet at 15 yards. 10 pumps. For $60.00 gun it's crazy accurate.

Lots of really good information here, presented in a scientific, data driven manner. Subscribed, and ordered some Beemans. I really like 880's, and continue to work on improving them. If you see this (I know the video is 5 years old), do you have a recommendation of books on the 880, to include the history of production and design? I have the Cass Hough book, and he goes into the decision to hold off on high powered air rifles, even though Daisy had the R&D in place, but he doesn't tell about where they made them, and basic changes made over the years.

Very nice video, keep up the good work. yes, so many very bad videos on the 880 with folks pumping the gun up very fast and not letting the chamber fill with air ! Keep your educational videos on the 880 coming !!

I agree. I like to put a few drops of pellgun oil on the little sponge and when I pump take my time and hear that air sucking into the pump tube and feeling the slight resistance as I pump. That way I know it's getting full air.

I find the Crosman Copper Magnum Pellets to be very accurate & hard hitting through my 880 :)

It's nice that you pointed out barrel stabilization with that front sight. I think that is overlooked alot when people break down the 880's for seal replacement, or part replacement. My front sight was very loose on my 880 and I ended up JB welding it in place for stability. I didn't JB Weld the barrel to the sight, just to the shroud. Best of my memory the Beeman hallows was impressive in that gun too. I like the detailed data as always you give. Are you a fan of the Beeman pointed as you are the hollow points? Speaking of local airgun competition, me and an old friend of mine used to plink together. ..I had a Daisy 880, he had a Remington air master 77 (2100 clone) along with other airguns we shot together. . That was fun.

As a note to your comment, I shoot Beeman pointed all the time in my 880 and they shoot very, very well. I'm constantly shooting small tin cans and ? at about 25 yds, a very good little medium weight 8.53gr pellet. The lead is very soft, so it should make a good hunting pellet for things like Rats, HOSP, Starlings, etc.

beeman pointed i will have to try more, i do know pointed can be fussy about speed just as wad cutters, but with the 880 i can see at what speed may work out them, glad you mentioned pointed and i have several brands of pointed pellets to get a battle going

@@libra7624 that's a battle I'd look foward to seeing. I know in my Daisy 822 the old Daisy Quick Silver pointed does really well. I'm not a big fan of the newer Daisy pointed in .177, or .22 cal.

@@josephschmoberg6778 if I remember correctly I liked them too in my Daisy 880 at closer ranges. Beeman pointed is a fairly heavy pellet and like the hollows, it's very reasonable priced.

I've got a 953 which I've been very impressed with. I'm struggling to find a reason to purchase the 880. But I'll find one eventually.

Beeman pellets are coated, but I was never able to find with what… does it gum up the rifling or keep it slick?

    • @libra7624

Graphite is used to coat some types of pellets

    • @libra7624

Graphite powder makes bore black but doesnt stick to it, most dirty barrels are graphite and not so lead as much
