Thank you for doing the pellet reviews. Everyone does presentations on guns but not pellets. Thank you.....

Great review. I bought some Crows to try them in the R10se (sub 12), erm...rubbish. I used 10 through the magazine, then melted the remainder and turned them into fishing weights. It's the only thing they are fit for.

I have the Hatsan Flashpup .177 & have shot all the same H&N pellets as you in this video. And I had mostly the exact same results! Baracuda hunter 10.49g being the most accurate & a solid energy transfer! Great for hunting! Only difference I had was the Crow Magnum’s 8.80g were my 2nd in accuracy & slightly better in results than the Baracuda Hunter Extreme’s 9.57g! The Rabbit Magnum ll 15.74g slugs I have are tied for 2nd in accuracy but are Heavy!! At 15 to 30yrds pack a huge punch ! I personally would only use these for hunting at maximum distance of 30yrds. I think the difference in this slug & the one in your video is no hollow point! These are just domed! I pleasantly enjoyed your video review! It was nice to keep it to the point & none of the extra babbling on! It was quite the breath of fresh air, compared to most of the other videos! Not once did I have to skip through any part! So thank you once again;)!

Very satisfied with both accuracy and the devastating terminal performance of the Terminators out to 30 metres, on the local rabbit population. Shooting .177 sub 12 fpe. Thanks for your review.

Hi Mike, that is great news, must be my guns that are very sensitive - just like the owner. lol. I prefer expansion slightly above pure accuracy, I need to know that the shot will be a humane kill, with greater expansion even a shot not 100% correctly placed will still result in a humane kill.

Cool vid. I did the same exercise using my Hammerli 850 and it hated the Crow Magnums and loved the Hunter Extremes (same hole at 30m). It would have been great to include the .177 Hades with this lot. Cheers

Morning I use Bisley magnum pellets in my Rotex RM8, and looking at the shapes and weights, it looks like Bisley and H&M are made in the same factory, so for short range ratting I'm using Bisley pest control, like the H&M crows, and yes at 30m it's like a shotgun, but below 20m they're a tack driver, quiet and deadly, so give them a go at shorter ranges 😁

I bought a tin of Crow Magnums in .22 and tried them through 2 of my sub 12 fpe rifles in UK.
To be honest I didnt finish the tin, your grouping was spot on IMHO. The other point I would say is dont use Hollow points in Sub 12 you wont get the expansion. Again IMHO. Thanks for the great review.

A pellet designed for hunting is something I would consider for ratting, but a humane shot is paramount so needs to be reliably accurate. Of the ones you had on test only the Barracuda Hunter Extreme (cross head design) have been tested in my rifle but didn't group well, now I might try the Barracuda Hunter (hollow point). The main reason for using any of these over a round head would be for greater expansion. In my sub 12ft/lb gun expansion in the pellets I have tried seems minimal, I feel the reliable accuracy of a round head design the best. Although not entirely unexpected, the suitability of the 13.5grn slugs for sub 12ft/lbs was a disappointment. I really enjoyed your testing of the .177 ammo.

I really enjoy your videos. The crow magnums shoot great out of both of my .22 at 25 yards. They start opening up at 50 yards. fps between 650-850 works great. The expansion is obscene. The sound it makes when it hits a squirrel is as loud as the gun going off.

I see you like that sound also. All of my 22 pcps shoot them at least 940-975 fps and they hit hard and good. My 177 (flash and Kral pit bull) shoots them @ 900-915 fps and they work well.

@@anthonygillespie4523 That is fast for a pellet, In .177 I don't like too high a speed, destabilizes the pellet... but I have been proved wrong a few times on this, barrel dependence.

@@AimSmall As SG says "my gun" will do this, I can't speak for or on the behalf of others guns. I'm just saying what mine do, and I'm getting good results. Some guns/pellets shoot better at lower FPS some don't. I tune them to shoot heavy pellets (9,6-10.34 grains) at higher FPS and they seem to shoot more steady than the avg 7-8.5 grains. It really depends on distance and what each gun likes at that distance. I go by this, power/speed isn't worth a dam if you can't hit what you are shooting at !!!

Hi Aim, firstly fantastic videos, exactly what you need to help sort out the chaff! I note that you didnt test the H&N Silver Point and I presume that it wasnt available at the time of testing. Are you able to update with the testing of new H&N pellets? And generally speaking because some rifles have sweet spots with particular pellets, what are your thoughts on the which is the best brand and name of pellet in the range?

Another good vid , but it would be nice to show accuracy out from 35 -60 yards

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have no info on a 10gr slug, all I know is the absolute difficulty making one as it is very stubby and not enough lead to make contact with the barrel, thus loss of air efficiency and not good for stabilizing, the longer the slug the better the BC. I asked H&N about this and even suggested a tin slug as it will give more body surface and weigh lighter... but at 8x the price I don't think anybody will buy them.

take a look at the twist and barrel diameter of each gun and pellets too ,shoot from a steady rest ,i think canting is to see at 8.33 min ,

a 177 with more speed should use slugs and the fast twist
