James panicking for a solid 7 minutes during his time was the biggest shocker of this episode.

Agree...he sounded like a normal. He needed to grow a chef's pair.
I think James Panicking is a direct result of Barry going rogue, which he has a tendency to do. The ideal thing to do was completely disregard what Barry did, but I can understand why it happened. When the first person comes up with a clear idea and starts to execute his idea then the second person comes in and does his own thing instead of what is put in front of him, the entire thing is derailed from the beginning. Barry and Jaime derailing these videos is why we love them. It causes chaos for the chefs.
The group was dropping the ball left and right!
I think I got most aggravated when almost everyone was like “Oh! This is supposed to be like a curd” and then NEVER MADE IT INTO A FREAKING CURD

That's kind of the problem with open ended stuff. You think you have left things open for people but you end up confusing people more. You need the perfect balance of railroading and freestyling otherwise you end up with this car crash

It's the reason why I hate this series.. and yet I can't avert my eyes from this absolute dumpster fire.
Mike gets so much sh*t and yet in almost every Pass It On he's like nearly the most competent and helpful which is crazy. The dude doesn't get enough respect.
He's great at figuring out what was going on and saving it.
Well out of the normals anyway. But then again his competition is Barry and Jamie, so the bar isn't that high.

His problem is not that he can't turn the hob ON but to turn it OFF XD
Pass it on challenge: everyone gets 5 min but they get 2 rounds
I think that would be a lot of fun, depending on where in the process every person gets put into the queue again, seeing how much of a mess has been made from where they left off.
juslab or 8mins each and the one who’s rates themselves the furthest out from the last “pass off” goes twice. I think everyone going twice would cover up all the timing and hunting.

This was like watching a group project where every member expects someone else to pick up their slack
I think the problem was that you had two leaders. Ben went one direction, Barry went another, and the rest of the team were stuck trying to figure out which way to go. Mike was able to bring them back together, but it was too late at that point.
Barry's plan of action, 100% of the time: I can see what they've set up, and now I"m going to do what ever the fuck I want to do.
The only way a dish can be a success is if Barry goes first because there’s 40 minutes after him to save what he’s started 😂😂 if he goes anywhere else he spends his time thinking about what he’s going to do, looks at everything that’s been started, ignores it all and does exactly what he thought of whilst sitting down 😂😂

That is one hell of a mood
One slightly complicated idea for it: Cook with the ingredients you have.
Each member can only cook with the ingredients that are provided from earlier members that cooked. At the end of each cooktime they can add a set amount of ingredients. The person going last can choose their ingrediants at the beginning to start the process.
Possible number of ingredients: 5,4,3,2,1
And all ingredients must be used if ou prefer the extra challenge.
This should represent a bit of lookig in the fridge and needing to decide what you can do with what you have.

Barry is that one drunk friend that darts off on their own adventure, expecting or hoping you catch him. He gets panicked and darts off his own tangents and I love it
Idea: pass it on, tinned food edition. They have to make a gourmet meal using only tinned food

wow...Mike completely and utterly saved this whole thing. This was a beautiful disaster video that somehow came out looking great...even though it was one dimensional and maybe not overly delicious.

@@catewright1575 Really, all Ben actually did was roll out a premade pastry, crack some eggs, & puree a mango. Mike had to trim the casing, decide on a final dish, assemble everything, & even made it look nice.
@@SeraphimCramer mike had to do all that bc everyone after ben didn't do a lot to contribute to the dish. Don't get me wrong, i love mike. But he spooned up the mixture ben started and jamie wisked, the thing jamie made to pair with ben's, and cut up a lot of fruit. He definitely made a presentable final dish, but i wouldn't say that if ben were in his place he couldn't do a better job.
@@catewright1575 Obviously Ben probably would've done a far better job in Mike's place, but the way things panned out, Mike ended up contributing more to the dish than either Ben or James.
Theme idea: Only the first person knows the theme. The rest have to figure it out based on the dish and clues left behind.
Also I died at the Cloud Egg in the intro.
Well...this maybe a fail, but James having a "Jamie-moment" was a dessert in itself. 😋😋😋

I love the new intro to the Pass it On segment. And I generally prefer tradition. The sorted team are great people to watch and learn to enjoy food even more. But also, hats off for all the hard work done behind the scene. Editing, visuals, staging, audio and so much more. Sorted is such a professional yet crazily fun and informative format. The whole team never rest on their laurels. SORTEDfood is the best there is, even compared to videos by famous magazines or celebrity chefs.

I had absolutely no memory of this episode when rewatching it just now and that's probably because it's the most infuriating of any of them. The idea was so good and everybody just goes 'what the hell is going on, I'm just gonna do something new for someone else to figure it out'! 😂

Also known as, where Ben has a starting concept, Barry makes his own thing that doesn't even end up on the plate, James panics hard, Jamie adds something that somehow ends up in the dish and Mike is left to figure out and work out the final dish out of an utter mess
I know you basically just narrated the whole video but I honestly feel that this is how every pass it on goes no matter the order. James can't function anywhere else other than in first, Barry always does his own thing, Jamie always panics but manages to make something work even if it's very little, Ben level headed I feel can function in any position and Mike is the life saver.
I know they're all friends and they joke around but I personally feel like James is the biggest peacock of them all. I actually cringed when he criticized Ben's effort compared to his own.

I thought about this - I feel his reactions are genuine, he doesn't know the theme or order. Someone from the team is telling them and the voiceover is then added later.
@@atuma That is what they do, one of the older ones you can catch the end of one of the women telling them the order.
But, Mike does plan what the videos are, so I wouldn't be surprised if he does know in advance. Same way James recipe labs everything but has to act surprised when he joins in judging

I don’t know what they have changed, but I feel like we are getting more real reactions, even if they have to beep them, or it makes them all look sarcastic. Felt like that has been missing for a while, but lately it’s back.
I like the real reactions, too. It bothers me when they say deliberately hurtful things though. More than once, I've heard someone comment on Mike's weight--which is ridiculous! He looks great on camera, and that's not easy for *anyone* to pull off. Besides, none of us is as young and lean as we used to be.
It's much more fun when they tease each other about what's happening in the moment. I like seeing them as childhood friends who just got taller.
I think Mike deserves a 10 for rescuing that and bringing together so much absolute confusion into something actually pretty and edible....well done on another very entertaining vid guys!

@@donb7519 everyone ignored it except Mike, but then again he was the one that had to make sure something actually ended up on a plate. Ben and Mike both deserved the higher scores they gave themselves as their the only reason a dish even came out of the kitchen.
If Barry isn't careful, he's going to get the "Jamie music" playing over his contributions in the future 🤦

Maybe he deserves the derpy music for failing despite putting in his best, but Barrys random add-ons regardless of what´s in the kitchen are so much more harmful to the process. I think you guys should do a pass it on called: What's in my fridge? Where each person picks one ingredient in secret, that only they know what it is. All before the challenge starts and every chosen item MUST be included in the dish.
I cannot wait to see how James saying "I am Jamie Spafford" will be reused down the line.

This is literally his m.o. ...he's not that great a chef in my opinion. He might think he's top shit in comparison to the likes of Jamie and Barry, but really... Not so much.
@@jjr26x14 omg yes this is the first time I've ever seen someone have an opinion similar to mine. I'm not a huge fan of commenting negative things but i have to get this out in the open. I've always felt James was the most pretentious peacock for no reason. He always panics and his ideas are cool but personally I've always felt Ben's were much more useful. Hell Mike over the course of the show has visibly grown and actually become better. I'm proud of him
@@imperviousdonut Imo James shines when he works behind the scenes and has time to think about what works and what he wants to do. In these scenarios especially when he's in the middle and has to pick up where ppl left off and continue it towards a dish and under time pressure, I don't think he does as well because this doesn't happen in a normal kitchen, sure you have to work with other chefs but you can at least communicate and ask where they were going and what they were thinking when they made certain parts of the dish, in this you just have to know what they were thinking and that's relatively difficult when they don't have the same knowledge as you. He also doesn't seem to think very well out the box when playing with the normals' ideas, I think a cheesecake tart is a relatively weird thing in 'traditional' cooking which is what he's been educated in.
Mike always dose some of the best stuff with what he's been dealt with! He deserves some extra points.
Mike is so English because he does not give himself enough credit.
