Well since around 1% of those infected with covid kick the bucket that would be ~20 million dead. So there's a reason why countries are locking down, covid is much more deadly than H1N1. In the US ~12,000 died of H1N1 and nearly 300,000 have died of covid.
NGL, this shit kind of feels like a guerrilla Amazon ad disguised as a legitimate upload. The “echo show” sandwiched perfectly between two very common video platforms (the other two being platforms, mind you, not a device) in combo wit da clearly professional yet intentionally amateurised video just sets off all my alarm bells, unfortunately. Why is the voiceover such high quality, but when he’s sitting in a chair it sounds like a handheld device? Why have the images of covid news reports and cases etc been recorded off of a screen, while the maker clearly has the skill to cut proper video and fadeouts into it? You’d think that if someone is recording from a screen it’s because they aren’t entirely sure how to edit all of it together, but everything about this video would indicate that’s not the case. If you have the ability to splice in actual clips as well as dub well-recorded audio over the top, you wouldn’t make the conscious decision to record your screen and THEN splice it in as well, unless it was an intentional artistic choice... You know, because you were trying to sculpt a certain narrative. Even if it’s not for Amazon, this video doesn’t strike me as genuine by any measure. There are so many things slightly wrong about it that just feels like my reality is being messed with. My gut feel says it is Amazon though, and they’re trying to make echo show feel as omnipresent as Facetime and Zoom (which again I note are technologies, not devices - making the entire sentence suspect), and are doing so in combination with a strong visual of the device that would make people subconsciously think “wow that would really be neat for grandma this Christmas, especially because she’s not great with technology and we won’t be seeing each other”. If you (a general you, not specifically you, OP) don’t think I’m right, that’s fine, but remember that as we spend more time online and advertisers harvest our data at a mind boggling rate, they can accurately predict exactly what will tickle our simple little fancies just in time for a major holiday. Maybe it’s family, maybe it’s amateur videos, maybe it’s a combination of it all with a simple title “my dad sent us this!”. Either way, it’s a finely tuned machine actively mapping you out so it can nudge you towards whatever decision they want you to make. Maybe that’s okay with you, and if it is, no sweat. But it makes my skin crawl, and as part of a broader landscape we really need to start implementing some technological safeguards to guard against these sorts of things. Of course, that would require lawmakers that aren’t in someone’s pocket, or too old to comprehend it. Stay Vigilant folks!

Let me know when we get to H1N1 numbers, which are 72M infected in US and 1.9B world-wide.
Exactly. This isn't about a sickness this is about controlling the average citizen.
