No wonder people took E in a Friday night in this era
If I’m absolutely honest I’d rather watch mammals pulling a cart around in circles for eternity than prime time this weekend
If you look in the newspaper archive, you can see what else was on that night; A Bit of Fry and Laurie on BBC2, and on Channel 4, Cheers and Roseanne and Clive Anderson's chat show. Actually not a bad night.
Aside from Surprise Surprise (which was obviously deplorable dogshite) that's a better line up than now.
Shame Roseanne ended up as a hard right conspiracy theorist lunatic. Show was alright tho.
Friday nights in 1990. It was the Hacienda or this.
This shite then for me.
“Through his praces” how’d he not pick that up
She does say "paces." Her voice just cracks slightly in the middle.
Ha ha. I mind watching it at the time and thinking how shite it was.
This is peak culture mate
There's no going back.
Just think if they'd have had TH-cam back then. We could have been paying to watch people watching TV.
Jim’ll fix it for grown ups
Well we're watching the exact same thing, with the addition of a middle aged Scotsman being a bit annoyed and confused about it, so are we really any better?
I was a kid when it was aired and I felt completely alone and confused why anyone would like Black and the crap programs and singing she did. This is cathartic.
@intelligenceofacertainkind I understand what you get out of it then. I'm less certain what I get out of it as someone who's not even from the UK and who's entire knowledge of Cilla is that Limmy hates her (I thought I knew that she made that song 'Downtown' but I just looked it up and that was Petula Clark).
Edit: Nice username btw.
My level of cynicism
I think the show peaked at Lollipop Pat,
This is something else!🥱
