He is a man on death row about to walk the final mile to his death .. He killed a man and now its his turn .. you have it right ...The opening sentence of the song says about the priest that is walking with him to his Death sentence

A little Bee Gees Trivia Time, In an interview, Barry was being asked about their song writing process. He said that one of them would come up with an idea, and they would sit and work with it. Barry started laughing and said he remembered with, "Ive Got To Get A Message To You", that Robin came to the studio very excited and said, I have an idea. A guy kills another guy, and he is on death row, about to be executed. "It's a LOVE song." lol!

I do not know when you put out this video, but you ask for the "meaning" of the song, well here is what Barry Gibb said about it:................A classic song from The Bee Gees on their fifth studio album, . The song is about a man on death row who has murdered his wife’s lover. About to be executed, he wants the prison chaplain to pass a final message on to his wife.
It is an apparently grim tale, but until one listens closely to its lyrics, the song is delightfully upbeat. Barry Gibb later explained why, and spoke of its formation:
"It was like acting, you see, we said, let’s pretend that somebody, his life is on the line, somebody’s going to the chair. What would be going through their mind? Let’s not make it doom and gloom but sort of an appeal to the person he loves. Because right now that’s all he cares about. Regardless of whether he’s done a bad thing, he is a human being, and he’s sending out this last message. There’s someone out there whom he loves. It’s a torch song, but within a very sort of theatrical sense. Not sort of abstract, but definitely somebody in a very bad situation whose life is going to end. What would they be saying, you know? This is it: ‘Gotta get a message to you, hold on’."

Thanks, Doc - Robin is the lead.. my favorite.. but then Barry -- OMG -- that costume is like a "matador" lol - I guess 1968 cannot expect much from the videos... right? (yes, seems like he is sending a last-minute message.. before he gets to his execution... )

It says right in the opening there was a preacher saying walk with me one more mile, the walk to death row is called the last mile and if you are Christian there will be a preacher there

@@emilyflotilla931 ok thanks for the update, the song is about a man going on deathroll for killing someone,I thought that Robin , Barry Gibb literally killed a man, cause that would be bad, and maybe most people would not love ,or like them very much , maybe this song wouldn't be played on the radios, I'm glad that they didn't actually shed a man's blood, what was I thinking 🤔🤔🤔🤔 how could they do that , they're too Nice 🙂🙂🙂 ,too cute,too kind,too generous etc etc to do that horrible thing to a fellow human being
