Not that he's not good enough, he is probably the best option in his 'in form' status.
However, dude is old, he's fought in the test trenches for years. He's called retirement and we should respect that.
We have dozens of players whom are not given enough exposure.
Our 'answer' to future test players is more test/first class series opportunity for our younger talents.
I'm sure the talent, and audience would enjoy a test series in Aus vs any of Zim/Ire/Afg, none are in the WTC, it's a 'free' test (or first-class/ODI) competitive series on the world stage.....

Dont understand why Australia are hesitant to groom a young opener ,yes may they be they don't have a perfect replacement,but they need to try someone young and groom as usman khawaja is also old now and atmost would Play another 1yr and above , maximum till 2026feb march
It’s mainly because grooming a young opener against India could be really tough. If it was any other team (maybe other than England) there wouldn’t be so much hesitation

They have to definitely look at Josh Inglis but not as an opener, Mitch Marsh as the all-rounder to replace Cam Green

It's simple facts - we don't have a opener who is scoring runs and have average over 45 . They need Atleast 1-2 more years. Meanwhile you have Khawaja and Warner .

They need to give an experienced opener a chance to cement their place in the team so when Usman retires (probably in less than 12-18 months) they can then gamble on younger long term prospect.
Having experience in an opening combination is a must.

Oye relax mate. How does this make any sense to you when you know that there's no opener who is scoring at even 40 average forget about late 45's or 50's in shield. Would you rather loose BGT and ashes at home due to poor opening combination or have Khawaja and Warner get you BGT and ashes and then they will leave room for youngsters to come while they get better in domestic cricket. You know that Bancroft or Harris or anyone other than Warner has """ 0""" chance against bumrah, shami and co. Think twice before what your asking for.
@@Writer759I would say based on Warner's last 2 or 3 years of Test match cricket that he wouldn't do much against the quality of the Indian attack either! Unless they produce absolute roads this summer and the ball hardly swings. But if that's the case whoever they pick has a decent chance of going alright! :)

Atleast u can loose for couple of months wirh excuse of 2 new openers but by then you have won another ashes and BGT finally.
