Hey, I was just checking out the C1-mk3 and Softube VCA Comp is free till the end of March. Just thought I'd add this. Thnx for your hard work on your channel!
They do. You get 25% off mk3 if you send them your mk1 or mk2, though some contries are excluded. I love my mk2 and can absolutely see how the new Console is a huge step up and worth the money. Especially with the new Fader coming in February.
@@vynnyzepooh4933As far as I know you could do that only if you would buy the upgrade to the original software of the Mk 2 to the last version- with that I understood that you would get the same functionality minus the new tactile control surface extras, of course. But it is better to read the details on Softube website or talk to someone that bought the upgrade - I didn’t yet.
Thanks a lot for this video. What a phenomenal device. However, I got more clarity that this is not for me. I use a lot of softube plugins, and I usually mix solo instrumentals. Definitely a time saver for people who work on big sessions. I might seek out a used MKII :)
I Just hope that Soft tube do something like SSL did with the SSL 360 Link and be able to link the console 1 to any plugin, if that can happen this would be the ultimate controler for mixing!
Thanks, Barry. Can you comment (or make a video) about how you arrange your Console 1, Avid control surfaces, and keyboard from an ergonomic perspective? It looks like S1 off to the left, C1/keyboard center, and Dock on the right. Is this the permanent setup, or was this just for C1 testing? Currently I have the dock in the center, and C1 to the left, but I'm considering swapping the dock and C1.
Hey Barry! Would you recommend purchasing this in conjunction with something like a UF8, or would that create redundancy? I was about to pull the trigger on a set of UF8’s, but now seeing this review, I’m beginning to rethink..
Sadly, you’re right, I’m actually gonna make a short video for my subscribers tomorrow explaining how I totally and completely royally screwed the whole thing up. I had to spend the entire day today re-editing it from the very beginning.
I hear you, that said, a core principle of my channel is I give detailed things to consider. Not everyone likes this, but it is in their best interest.
@@BarryJohns Hi Barry. First video of yours that I've seen, thanks, definitely subscribed. I like your straight forward, practical presentation of your viewpoints. Also, I really appreciate hearing you talk about workflow and effectiveness. It's something I rarely even hear mentioned in gear reviews on TH-cam, even though it's soooo essential (well, at least for working producers/engineers). Sure it's cool with blingy things, but a deadline is a deadline. So (imo anyway) to stay productive and creative, every little optimization is hugely important. It's nice to hear that side of things being prioritized and pointed out, as you did (I know it's sort of the point of the video, but still). Great review. I think you're spot on. The new Console + Fader combo I think will be great! I'm for sure upgrading when it's released. Anyway, thanks for your opinion, I'll be following your channel. -André
Hey there! I’m debating whether not to sell my UF8 for a Softube console and fader? I’m a LUNA user. Is there anything I might regret? E.g. one possibility would be keeping the UF8 as my fader surface with the Softube.
Will anyone address the crazy price? In Europe (and afaik Softube is Swedish) this costs 985 euros (almost 1000$). For a controller?? More so: For a plugin controller?? This world doesn't make sense anymore...
@@spvcecowboy The screens are what makes it more expensive. I sarcastically said that we need screens on midi controllers in order to control what's on our computer screens. How does it not make sense?
Hi Barry thanks for all your videos. In the plugin of the MK3, can you also choose the A800 tape as preamp?I can only choose between tape A B or C thanks Gr.Ness
I have console one as well as the SSL UC1. The main issue I have with the Console One is not the functiionality but the fact that the hardware does not feel like a console at all.
Previously there was something wrong with the audio quality sounding like Barry was talking into a blanket. I think this is the third re-upload and it sounds proper now.
Wat h the video I talked about in this video where I go more into depth of how the control surface works. There is a link in the description to this video.

I love my Console 1 MKII. Perhaps Softube could do a trade-in program? Great review!

Hey there, can you help, just wondering if I can chain 2 compressors with MK2 or this feature is mk3 only?

That is pretty sweet, just like you could do since 2005 on a D-Command.
Bravo! 😁👍 (Only correct you on the stated facts! SSL, support for use with other 3part-plugins are available with latest version with SSL-360)
Yep, that just happened, I’m a big fan of SSL!
So I can control all plug-ins regardless of who they come from with the MK 3 console 1?
I have the Mach I version but I got in trouble for blowing out all the windows in my neighborhood.

thanks for the video. is it possible to control the two eqs with the mk2?
Since you enjoy wood working, have you considered making some custom outboard gear racks?
Yes
Wow !…having extra plugin mix versions per track is pretty cool, I am not sure if the pro tools app and Dock can do that?
The dock can edit plugins well, this is something else entirely
Audio is back to normal!
🤦♂️🤦♂️
Update SSL UC1 now offer ALL plugin control. Some are pre programed.
Looking forward to trying i
Ive been considering upgrading. Not sure if i want some more analog or this
🤷

No transport controls, no buy.
I think it will be in near future #3 piece...like SSL have Transport with VU, Spectrum, Measures, Image, independently...

I don't think I could sell the mk2 for more than $20 on reverb... $45 for both Console and Fader Mk2.. with stand,, lol
So I can control all plug-ins regardless of who they come from with the MK 3 console 1?
No, only ones that have been mapped for it. Softube/Universal Audio/Fabfilter as an example.
damn im here early
I got mine a week ago. SWEET rig.

Nice looking unit, if I didn’t already have the Avid dock and S3 I might consider this option.
I use mine with an Avid Dock and S1
Does this have more plugin functionality than the avid Dock?
I think so, I have an Avid Dock, it’s sitting tithe right and is just out of frame
Not quite sure why I need this to control my plugins in Protools???

Are you saying Mock, Mach, or Mark.....II / III?
I'm just teasing BTW!
Is this ssl uf8 compatible ?
Yes!
