Hey man, great video. I just ordered mine and can't wait to play with it. A quick question, what is the purpose of API Vision plugin and some Hitsville EQ before your Console 1 insert?
Thanks for the breakdown! Convinced me to take the plunge. BTW, wondering if you would do a video deep dive explaining Luna's latest integration with SoundID? I've been at it for awhile and still have trouble understanding when to use it, how to use it, which of their plugins I have and if they can run reliably with a daisy chain of Apollos? I've purchased everything and got one free with my gen 2 X 6 but I still get a prompt for downloading a trial. As I type this I'm realizing this probably isn't your bag! But here's to hope.
Hi, thanks so much for watching. I’m so pleased that you found the video helpful! That’s a very interesting suggestion, at the moment if I’m using 3rd party plug-in, like soothe 2, or an amp simulation, then I will place the console one insert where I think it will be most useful in the chain. I do however, like to use the tape and swimming within Luna. so I don’t tend to use the tape or drive that much in console one. You can re-order the console one channel strip very easily, but that’s a really interesting idea to be able to insert a third-party plug-in mid chain. I’m not even sure if it would be technically possible to do, but it’s a fantastic idea! Thanks again so much for watching, and have a great week! 😊 👍 Matt
By now I think I watched all the videos on YT showcasing the console 1. But I have to check my bank account after every one to remind me that it would not be a sound financial decision 😂
@@KunchangLeeMusic that’s a really good question - and not an easy one to answer! Both are incredibly units, outstanding build quality and a joy to work on. I think it really depends on what you would like it to do and what plugins you want to use. For myself, I’m very happy with the UA plugin’s which I started collecting over 10 years ago! The other big thing for me is the consistent layout of the console 1. As you know I bought all three SSL Units, but the only practical downside to the 360 link plugin, was that I forgot where I had mapped certain parameters - so it was very stop / start mixing sometimes if that makes sense? The Console 1 MK3 has been so well thought out. In terms of using it as a standalone piece of hardware - it really does remind me of working on a large format console, but with the flexibility of quickly loading whatever plugin you thing will do the job best. I love 2 different options for shape / eq and compression, and AB compression is so easy. However, there are no programmable soft keys or transport with the console 1. But, from what I’ve seen to date about the Condole 1 MK3 Fader integration, I think as a duo - this would be a whole new level for me. There’s no right answer, but for me personally, if I was buying today… Softube Console 1 MK3. I hope that helps and thanks so much for watching. Have a great weekend! Matt
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, I do really appreciate it & totally get that this isn’t for everyone. As you can tell I love this and if you haven’t tried it and get a chance, do. It is in the higher price points for control surfaces, but having bought and used: - Presonus Faderport 8 & Fader Port MK2 - Steven Slate Audio Raven x2 - Avid Artist Mix x2 - SSL UF8, UC1 & UF1 - Softube Console 1 MK2 & Fader MK2 I’m quite comfortable saying that this has been the most tactile, well made and well thought out control surface to date. I bought the unit and wasn’t asked to make the video by Softube - I just love it! Anyway, have a great weekend man and all the best with your music 👍 Matt

Very useful video, thanks. Where do unsupported 3rd party plugins fit into the workflow? Can you still put then in the middle of a plugin chain?
