OMG...This! Dated a guy like this. Among other things, he sized everyone up. If we were out eating & he noticed some guy who seemed very successful or financially sound, he would say "he's probably a drug dealer or ball player, etc." If someone had a great sense of humor, or style, or intelligence in a particular area, he would become visibly intimidated and behave awkward. As much of a catch as he seemed, his deep-seated insecurity repelled me to the point of nausea at times. A narcissist will N.E.V.E.R. accept accountability or responsibility when they mess up (because of course they are special, so everyone else is messed up). Narcissists would rather drink paint than be criticized, and they have trouble engaging in anything that is not focused on them. OMG...This! Dated a guy like this. Among other things, he sized everyone up. If we were out eating & he noticed some guy who seemed very successful or financially sound, he would say "he's probably a drug dealer or ball player, etc." If someone had a great sense of humor, or style, or intelligence in a particular area, he would become visibly intimidated and behave awkward. As much of a catch as he seemed, his deep-seated insecurity repelled me to the point of nausea at times. It became exhausting just being around him, and I wondered if people assumed I shared his character trait since I was his girlfriend. Tarnished by association? Hell no. Sad thing was this guy had so much else going for him and could be destined for personal greatness. I tried to overlook it and be patient because I truly wanted to help him realize his own value.
