- Thomas More was executed on Tower Hill on July 6th 1535. His faughter Margaret retrieved his head from the pike Thames. She put it in a casket, keeping it with her until she herself died in 1577.
Margaret was buried in St Dunstan's church in Canterbury England in her husband's family vault, as requested her father's head was lad next to her. In 1597 the Roper vault was enlarged and rebuilt- the casket containing Thomas More's head was moved and placed behind an iron grill in the new vault where it lies to this day behind a locked door. Thomas More was canonized by the Roman Catholic Church in
1935. He is the patron saint of statesmen and politicians.

Thomas More is my 17 great grandfather... Thank you for sharing
My absolute pleasure! Thank you!
WOW!!! Your ancestor is quite literally a saint. That’s amazing
Fun fact, if every generation has 3 children, a 17th great grandfather would have 130,000,000 descendants.
Now, of course every generation didn’t have 3 children that would’ve survived to child rearing age, but it just shows how crazy those numbers go up.
You did not reveal your Name
This is how he treated his friends. God forbid you be his enemy.
It blows my mind how cruel and unjust H8 was.
When he was done with you and you weren’t doing what he wanted. He was done.
He was canonized by the Catholic Church in 1935 and in 2002, Pope John Paul II named him patron saint of rulers, politicians and lawyers.
Saint Thomas More is remembered every year on June 22.
Mentioned in the description of the video. 💚
St. Thomas More, a great man and saint
H8 must have really been miserable in his life. I feel sorry for all of his victims.
Henry VIII was a monster! Worst king we ever had - responsible for the deaths of 70,000.
Worst has pretty stiff competition 😉😉
@@EvelynEdwards OK, he was one of the worst but I still hold a special dislike for him!
@@JohnDoe-px4ko absolutely one of the worst. I’m with you 😉😉😉💚
I've read these books of royalties but Evelyn's narration adds more information.❤ Thank you Evelyn. Pls keep it up.
Thhhhhaaaaaank you friend! Appreciate you!
Hello hope you are well. This one is awesome! Cheers!
Thank you friend! Hope you are well too!
How many heads were placeed on pikes on London bridge?
Too too many.
Fascinating, I never knew that and live just outside Canterbury and have walked past the church hundreds of times. I will make a point to visit it next time I’m there. Thank you.
Yes!!! Do!!! A small church but worth the visit!
Thank you again. I feel like I was there.
🥰🥰🥰🥰
I am French, and I paid a visit to Canterbury, specially in memory of Sir Thomas More. I was so impressed at watching the movie of his life. Rest in Peace! 6:01 .❤💙

Hennry v111 was a jerk.
Times 10!
Excellent job Evelyn!
Thank you so much friend! 💚
I notice expensive ball camera on the church, such is the time we live in,
There are security cameras in most of the medieval churches. They have items of value inside.
A saint for all seasons.
St Thomas More pray for us!
Ooh that Henry VIII! He makes me angry with his wickedness and cruelty. 😢 Great video. Thank you Evelyn 👑🏰🏰♥️
💚💚💚💚 Henry did not like anyone who didn’t agree with him.
@@EvelynEdwards it makes it hard to understand how he had a “best friend” let alone any friends with how wicked he was. Sheesh! 😂
For those of us who can not subscribe could you please provide a list of book recommendations? Perhaps in a video? So interested in learning all of the history you share. Thank you for all you do!❤️
Of course! I’ll post a list on my stories in the next few days!
Thank you! 😊@@EvelynEdwards
Like little bits of history like as presented here. Still learning. My mothers side goes back to Robert De Bourge, half brother of WT Conquerer. Thanks for the short vids.

St Thomas Moore is also the patron saint of lawyers. Thank you for this informative post.
So glad you enjoyed it!
Another interesting story! Thanks for your research ❤

H8 😒 thank you for the video ❤
Thank you

Interesting!!

I am surprised they found a church to house the remains of such a brutal and sadistic torturer.
Henry was horrible here, but the Catholic Church was just as bad, if not worse on multiple occasions. Dying over disagreements over something for which there is no evidence of existence seems like one of the most pointless deaths one could have. You would think if God existed and wanted to be worshipped in a certain way, he would have selected a more clear way of communicating those wishes than a book written by numerous different men over centuries prone to multiple different ways of interpretation and disagreement, brimming with inaccuracies on the functioning of our universe.
Thank you for sharing this. Ive always thought this story was sad and his death pointless. Religion has caused so much misery over the years. The sooner we leave it behind, the sooner humanity can realize its true potential.
