In this episode I tell you all about the gorgeous Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe in Dalmally, Scotland. I also tell you all about the Campbell clan who built this castle along with some wonderful legends and ghost stories. Kilchurn Castle is one arguably one of the most popular and widely photographed castles in Scotland.

Evelyn Edwards is a successful American actress and photographer. She has appeared on such shows as National Geographic’s Hydrogen vs. Hindenburg, Bosch, Criminal Minds, Castle, The Mentalist, Parenthood, The Thundermans, The Kicks, Marry Me, Outsourced, the Academy Award winning film Her, and the Ridley Scott Associates film Loom.
Evelyn began her career in opera. She has performed with some of the opera industry’s leading conductors and singers including: Placido Domingo, Valery Gergiev, Kent Nagano, Eva Marton, Vladimir Chernov, Goesta Winburg, and others.
She has had the privilege of working with such famed directors as Oscar winner Maximilian Schell, Julie Taymor, Gian-Carlo Del Monaco, and Lotfi Mansuri during her tenure with Los Angeles Opera. Ms. Edwards made her professional singing debut at the age of 13, operatic debut at 19, and national television commercial debut at six months.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Music degree from UCLA and a Professional Studies Diploma from Mannes College of Music. She lives with her husband in the United Kingdom, where they share their passion and love for castles and photography together.

How beautiful! My mom and I were there in 1994, and she said that she felt a ghost. I didn’t exactly feel that, but I felt a very somber mood, kind of a sadness. However, we did not feel unwelcome there. I had great reverence and respect for this place; and Loch Awe seemed very peaceful to me. Thanks for producing such a splendid video!

Evelyn, right now, I wish my mom could have seen your series. I just read your video description and the story of your journey from opera to telling the story of history the way you do. She was SUCH a huge opera fan. Her parents met through singing in the chorus of our local opera company. And she and her dad were such history buffs. They would salivate over a series like this! When we go to New York, we want to go to the Met just to feel what she felt going there for the first time after decades listening to it & watching it. Unfortunately no. Closed due to Covid. 💚🙏🏻
There are pictures online of the interior, such as it is. I visited several years ago and it is an interesting ruin. The walk through the heath and moor to get to the castle is fabulous. A bit squishy underfoot in autumn, but you really feel like you're discovering something. I didn't feel at all unwelcome when I visited, but I am a Campbell. I do think it feels sad, especially on a gray, misty day.
