      Agreed!
      Girls and women are statistically more likely to be victims than straight men,
      but boys and men need protecting and care, and abuse/harassment of men is very underreported.
      Bad things
      (including *trigger warning*
      Domestic violence, abuse, molestation and rape) can and do happen to them-- plus, no one deserves repeated, unwanted sexual advances! I hate when people treat men (and even young teenage boys) as if something is wrong with them if they arent thrilled by any advance at all from any woman. Gross, man.

She said yes and that he'd gone in the toilet so I should leave now. I sprinted through a park and doubled back behind a hedge, managed to lose him. Don't know if the girl at the bar was named Angela but she saved my ar$e that day!

    I don't know why woman-on-man harassment/assault aren't talked about more; they're just as much an issue, if not more of an issue, than the stereotypical man-on-woman harassment/assault.
    Instead, men expect to be belittled or have their problems ignored, which is far from healthy for either them or for society.

    • @ggdail
      @ggdail 5 ปีที่แล้ว +177

      As a former bartender I can confirm. When I guy harrassed a woman, they'd usually get the hint when you intervened or in the rare occasion, bouncer could step in & respond accordingly.
      When it was the other way around, the women who start acting insane & then try to act like they were the victim. They would almost always need to be restrained & arrested.

      I mean, it's a stretch to say man-on-woman harassment is less of an issue because it literally is more common and widespread than woman-on-man. Though male victims face different issues and are less talked about (which should change), all assault and harassment is bad and I don't see the point in arguing who has it worse (as these replies have started to do).

    I’m surprised by the amount of men that used the safe word. Not because men can’t feel vulnerable and unsafe around their dates but because it’s uncommon for men to express that discomfort and fear.
    Good to hear that some are brave enough to ask for help.

    • @kylethekidable
      @kylethekidable 4 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      Mainly because men, overall, aren't taken seriously when it happens. For example, I'm a bouncer. Any time we see a guy lay a ginger on a girl in an unwanted way he's gone and the managers practically expect us to jump him on the way out. Meanwhile, I've been groped and fondled against my wishes more times than I can count only to see people, staff included laughing hysterically at my predicament. Then when the girl doesn't get the hint and I bounce her, they act like I'm an asshole and it's all in good fun. That's why the bouncers in the one story took it so seriously and why I do as well, because we know better than most how demoralizing it is as a man to not be backed up in instances like this because "you're a man, you should love the woman's attention".

I'm gay, the dude im with knows the same safeword or safedrink... I mean, i dont really drink so i prolly wouldnt be going on a date or anything at a bar, but still, if i did i would be screwed if things go south xD.. Especially cuz my taste is dudes that are a good bit bigger than me.. If he finds out im tryna bounce, and hes all drunk and shiz, it could either be fine or really bad

  • @AbiR-fw7xg
    @AbiR-fw7xg 5 ปีที่แล้ว +115

    If I owned a bar I would tell the bouncers at the door to whisper the safe drink of that night (different for men and women) to them that way it constantly changes and no one can get a opposite gender friend/someone they met at the bar, to tell them a code from the bathroom signs.

    • @Nu_Wen
      @Nu_Wen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Or put an electric sign that you can put into both bathrooms to replace the posters. Then you can just change what the sign says each night and no one else will be able to mess with it or change it

    • @lemeres2478
      @lemeres2478 5 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    • @PoodleParti
      @PoodleParti 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Those places are so noisy I'm sure you can just say, "can I have a safe word drink?" and your "friend" won't catch on. Or just tell your friend to f off.

    • @kylethekidable
      @kylethekidable 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The problem with that is, if you have the type of friend who would tell you what the safe word drink is by going into the bathroom and finding out, they'd also tell you what words the bouncer whispered on the way in. Not to mention that drunk people will have trouble remembering new phrases with every visit. From a realistic bar workers standpoint, people get paranoid when anything happens other than showing your ID and getting drinks. A poster in the bathrooms looks like a nice no obtrusive safety measure, whispering new secret phrases every night will have half your patrons think this is a rape bar and you're trying to clean it up.

      @Yuki This is one of the most disgusting reactions to sexual abuse I’ve ever seen.
      Are you proud of yourself right now? I hope you are, because I’m going to remove that for you. You, who act like only women can suffer and be hurt. You, who dismiss another person’s suffering because “we have it so much worse.” You wanna know why women never got helped a century ago? You wanna know the real reason? Because it had very little to do with sex. Nobody wanted to care about it. They had their own problems. They all “had it worse.” Their response to a cry for help was to ignore it and say “I have enough to worry about, don’t expect me to help you.” The same exact attitude you’ve just revealed in your words. So congratulations! You’re part of the problem!
      I hope you are ashamed of yourself. Your heart spits out hatred like the sea spits out foam, and now everyone who has read and will ever read your comments will see that. Millions of people who scroll through comment sections will remember your hateful, vile remarks, and you will never be able to erase that. NEVER! The internet remembers. That mark is upon you forever! You have no cloak to hide your hypocrisy, you garbage human being.
      I hope you’re still at least capable of feeling shame. Then perhaps you’ll be able to learn from this experience to question your own cruel biases. If not, well, it no longer matters. Now the whole world knows who you are. And that record will exist forever. So congratulations. Are you proud now?

Some years later my daughter (6 feet tall, 300 + pounds), saw a man hitting a woman and ran him right over. The police had already been called, and they arrived to find her ON him. They arrested the guy but warned her that she should not have intervened. As soon as his female friend reached into her bag he looked STRAIGHT at the bartender and mouthed help me, she's crazy in between screams. The whole bar was staring and because of all the attention, so she went outside to ring an ambulance for him. He jumped to his feet immediately, and took off towards the bathrooms, at which point the Bartender followed him and told him the police were already on the way, and to lie on the floor of the office and keep pretending to be in pain (office was in earshot of the bar if you screamed in there). The police notified the ambulance service that if they received a call from X bar to respond only if they could spare an ambulance for a show of force and the situation as it was reported to the police.

    There was this 26 year old dude hitting on me when I was 16 in one of my PSEO classes at college. He asked for my social media and at the time I didn’t really know how to say no so I gave it to him (I know how to deal with that situation now, thank god). He would always instigate conversation and I would always try to keep it friendly but he just kept saying suggestive and inappropriate things. At one point he asked what my friend and I were being for Halloween and I innocently told him we were being hippes, and he responded with “that’s hot”. At that point I told him to stop and he apologized but literally within the next 20 minutes he made another comment like that. This went on for about a week because I just didn’t know how to deal with it without pissing him off.
    He was in my class, so he would also kind of follow me out of class and talk to me. I usually walked to the building right across from the one where our class was, but I tried to get him to stop one time and walked further towards the library. He kept walking with me. When I got there I said I had to use the bathroom and find my friend (lies) and he left saying that the had to actually go to the gym, which was in the opposite direction of the building our class was in. So he went extremely out of his way to follow me.
    I was friends with a few other guys and a girl in that class and they kind of caught on and walked with me everywhere after I told them that I was kinda freaked out. Literally three dudes a girl never left my side until the creepy guy was out of sight, every day. Eventually I blocked him on social media and he stopped trying to talk to me.
    He actually apologized when he caught me alone waiting for my ride home one day. I stayed leaning against the opposite wall and meticulously avoided saying “it’s okay” or “it’s fine” by saying things like “just don’t do it anymore” or “thank you for apologizing”. But the entire time he was speaking he was very obviously checking me out. He left after the apology was over and never spoke to me again.
    Another time, I got a guy to stop hitting on me by saying that my best friend (who was sitting right next to me at the time and had a boyfriend) was my girlfriend. This fucking queen literally kissed my cheek and put her arm over my shoulder and just said “sorry dude.” The guy left and didn’t bother me again. I fucking love my best friend.

    How do they know it is a safe word drink?:

    • @michaelsgotguts
      @michaelsgotguts 5 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      You mean the staff or the person pretending to order it? How it works is there's a poster in the bathroom that says the safeword and to order it if you feel unsafe, and the staff are trained to specifically remember what the safeword means.

      Tana Collier bit it is easier if there is a constancy that way the person seeking help would not have to go to the bathroom in order to know the safe word drink because it could potentially look sus if the person went to the restroom then immediately or after a while ordered a drink

    not a bar, but a laundromat. I was doing my laundry and was nearly finished, when this guy started freaking out on a lady who had politely removed his clothes from the washing machine so she could do her own laundry (if the laundromat is busy you need to make sure you're on the ball in getting your stuff switched over, because people have lives that don't revolve around you). He kept going on about how rude she was, and it was a violation of privacy, etc.
    Even though my laundry was done, I remained in the laundromat for almost an hour until he finished and left. I figured the presence of another guy might keep this weirdo from going too far. I just sat there watching the guy, waiting for him to get violent, trying to make eye contact with the lady to let her know she had backup if needed, but she just kept her head down, sometimes muttering quiet apologies to the guy. he finally left, and as soon as I saw his car pull out, I got up and left. Lady never even knew I had stayed for her.

    This isn’t a drink story but it’s a story from school where I needed help
    I’m the mom friend of my group and I’m very protective, nothing bad has really happened to my friends but some stuff has happened to me.
    Once in gym class, we were playing batmitten, I’m not good in gym, so I would get glared at but I was used to that, two of my close friends were in that class with me, so we stayed together and made sure everyone was okay.
    One day, I was doing worse then usual cause my mental health was already swarming in my head, I was forced to be with a girl that was mean to everyone, so she couldn’t keep her mouth shut about how I was playing the game, now, I’m openly pansexual, so I’ve had to deal with many homophobic remarks, but she pushed the line, I hadn’t noticed, but when we were against her friends, she walked up to the net and started whispering to them, my two friends were bystanders, and one just happens to be good with hearing when somethings wrong, so, she heard the girl say some really mean stuff, when that round was over she told me, and I snapped and broke down crying, my friends hugged me, I couldn’t stop crying, some people that I didn’t even know walked up and asked if I was okay as my best friend explained to them what happened and to leave me alone, for the rest of gym, I didn’t do anything except stand there and cry, my teammate and the bitch that made me snap, didn’t care, except a lot of people we were against did and even stopped in the middle of the match to step on me, but I brushed them off. After class we told the teacher, we then left the class and my friend that had the rest of the classes in the day with me, had to help me from crying for the rest of the day.

    I really like how this also shows that men also have problems with sexual harassment. I am so glad the people took it seriously when a guy was having a problem. Unfortunately there are some instances where men feed the problem and say that they should like it. Men don't always want that kind of attention just like women. Consent is key on both sides. I really appreciate their stories being shared. I really also love how well all the staff in this handled things very well and were really nice.

    I didn't get the chance to ask for help. I was dancing holding my drink, arms over my head in a crowd. Suddenly a guy dumps a drink on me. He apologizes, but pulls me to the bar next to a bouncer. He grabbed my drink and handed it to the bouncer saying this other guy put a pill in it. The bouncer motions another bouncer and they detain the guy. My drink was tested and popped for roofies. This stranger ruined my top but probably saved me from something bad.
