Honestly true. More often than not the edited pictures and stuff made after the story is released (namely thinking stuff like games and web shows like Marble Hornets) end up being /a lot/ scarier than the stories themselves lol.

It's kinda crazy to me that the people who wrote these stories were simultaneously young and naive enough to have zero understanding of how the real world works, but also old and messed-up enough to be dreaming up stolen kidneys, self harm, cannibalism and murder. Then again, I was a very sheltered child so that's probably why it seems so inconceivable to me
I got in trouble when I was around 8 or 9 for writing a short story about a dragon who killed a knight and strung his innards up in the trees throughout the forest that it lived in. My dad was not a fan.. 😅

Sadly various types of breaks can make people freakishly strong. My grandma had violent outbursts due to dementia and required 4 male orderlies to neutralize her lest she hurt somebody, or herself, despite being quite a small feeble lady. We're tall strong primates. Our subconscious stops us from deploying full strength in usual situations to prevent injury (muscle and ligament tearing). But remove that blockage and humans are quite frightening.

I used to be addicted to creepypasta wattpad fanfics when i was like 10 or 11. I read those things like they were fucking oxygen and lost so many nights of sleep staying up watching creepypasta videos

this was literally what me and my friend did in middle school!! we planned to collaborate on some huge novella series and become self-publishing authors by re-imagining all the crappy creepypastas-but obviously that was just a fun little dream we had as kids.

The the main characters choice in sonic.exe one is the equivalent to seeing fresh blood splattered all over a door, but you want to go in and get your coat. These can be scary but the choices are just no human would make no matter how outlandish these are.

im so disappointed that you didn't mention that when jeff is discharged from the hospital, he's given THE CLOTHES HE CAME IN by the staff. you know, the clothes that were covered in alcohol and bleach and blood and also set on fire. hospital must have an amazing laundromat.

Yeah when I was younger a friend introduced me to Creepypastas by showing me Ted the Caver, regarded as the first Creepypasta, and boy does it still hold up. Like it was the first, is still absolutely chilling, provided the perfect formula and then every following creepypasta just ignored it and went straight down to cringe town

Ted the caver was one of if not the oldest creepy pastas. It was a story written about a caver to encrypt the fear of claustrophobia in the writing and it was splendid…
Oh yeah, Ted the Caver and Candle Cove seem to be the most notable creepypastas that not only hold up, but also fully take advantage of their format. Ben Drowned also holds up pretty well graphically, even though the original story's pretty standard.

Apparently he did it so realistically to prank his family, who were keeping an eye on his blog from the start in a sincerely concerned, "why tf would you ever climb into the earth's butthole for fun" kind of way. At least that's what I recall from the interview with the author.
As someone that was in the same sphere of creepypasta fangirl fandom as the stabbers, that event straight up changed my brain chemistry. I couldn’t touch creepypasta for years afterwards because of how strong the second hand embarrassment I felt was (my mom knew I liked creepypasta). Now seeing TH-camrs talk about how trash old creepypasta actually is makes me happy because yeah it’s true, but it also feels like visiting an old friend. I did get back into creepypasta a bit around 2018 but everyone and their mother were writing rulespastas which got really tired and caused me to lose interest again.

I was 13 when it happened, and my mom asked me about it to make sure that I didn’t believe they were real, too, and I was like “Yes mom, I know they’re fictional.” It was around this time that I started gaining enough awareness to realize that a lot of the more popular Creepypastas weren’t very good, so my enjoyment of them was already on its way out the door.
I HATE those damn rules stories. I go on the no sleep reddit at work sometimes and sure the first Strange list of rules was interesting, but now every other story is about rules it's so boring.

They may be bad, but they’re what we grew up with and also the og pastas, especially how sonic.exe has one of the most popular and iconic music. ( also I like how people actually remake some of these like sonic.exe and I think siren head making games with stories that are actually a lot better.
I used to think these stories were pure poetry, now i read them and realize how sorely mistaken i was.

I remember being so scared of Jeff the Killer that I didn't sleep for three days and hallucinated him in my room, having nightmares for two years, and ever since, my brother just sents me a picture of him every once and a while. This incident also happened with smile dog. I was nine at the Jeff incident and ten at the smile dog incident. The brain rot was real
Okey the stories are bad but when i tell you i started praying after i saw the Eyeless Jack photo. There's a prayer in my language to seek protection and force jinns to leave you alone and that just POURED out of my mouth and i covered my phone screen. Its not even that deep but thats a dang creepy photo, i had to be sure😭

Honestly, this is the first time Ive ever seen creepypastas, and they're actually amusing. Like poor writing, confusing plot holes, but they have a kind of poorly written charm to them. As a writer, I want to revamp these.

Eyeless Jack could've been so much worse, tho. I mean, yeah, he stole Mitch's kidney, but he was kind enough to use anesthesia ( or else he would've woken up) and stitch him back up afterward. That's honestly more than the doctor did!
In some versions of Eyeless Jack, he just cuts the victims open, no anesthesia.
The og story doesn’t give many details, so it’s debatable as to whether he uses anaesthetic or just has like supernatural powers that stop his victims feeling the pain

I’ll be honest. If I was into writing horror this is the kind of stuff I would expect from myself(maybe not as bad as the last one) and I fully accept my cringe. I love writing but I cannot say I’m good at it. I can barely have a coherent thought, much less make a coherent story.
