Real question is what year is the Chevy because both brands have just gotten cheaper and less reliable as the years go. Both brands older models are extremely reliable
I was going to say sort of the same thing, I've owned or worked on them all at some point and in all honesty I dislike all vehicle brands, theirs always a list of flaws I don't care who built it, I do happen to drive a chevy but that's just because it was a steal at the time and everyone needs a truck
Cheeky bastard! ! it's tough to boycott China. my TV, my phone, parts of my car, thousands of tiny parts in the construction of my house and millions of tiny parts I use to do my job...are all made I China. don't even bother to step inside a walmart....90% of everything in there is made on china.
lol they are still made in America. Ford has always made the best stock off road vehicle suspension as well. Ford the last domestic Vehicle. Americans drive fords.
No, no they haven't, they have always made junk and they have 2 plants in mexico. The trucks are ASSEMBLED in the US not built in the US. Ford is junk, always has been and always will be. You get what you pay for and ford is the cheapest.
Johnny Rocket do your self a favor take the Ford Rouge Plant tour and then tell me how foreign made the trucks are the transmission are made in Livonia Michigan and Sharonville Ohio if you have never been to a American vehicle manufacturing plant and a Japanese manufacturing plant in America how would you know about how much is made in the US and over seas the Mexican plants are there for over flow like a line goes down
Ford and Chevy are both great they both have their legendary designs and they both have their lemons I drive a 5.3L ‘14 silverado 1500 great truck but I turn my head every time I see a ford too
I have to agree, personally, I would take a Chevy Silverado or a Toyota Tundra over a Ford Raptor or F-150 any day. But Fords still do get my attention every day.
My 4.9L 1988 F250 big block straight 6 787K miles no rebuilds, betcha the Dodge and Chevy straight 6 engines taken care of the same way last equally long, but man that 300 cid big block 6 pulls everything I've ever tried tug of war with
My favorite proof story is the one my dad told me. His family is a very successful sand and gravel company and they tried every make of vehicle there was until they landed on Ford's. Gmc went average of 22k miles, Toyota went 30k miles, Dodge went 18k miles and Ford went 60k miles. They ran a fleet of 50 vehicles at a time with standard manufacturer maintenance intervals. There are still 5 Ford's from the first test group in 1999 that are still running and have over 300k miles on the original drivetrain (light duty f250 with 5.4L).
Trevor Roth My father has a Tacoma, its not bad but seriously, if your getting a truck, get a real American truck. Its where the US auto market shines best nowadays.
+Trevor Roth I bought my Tacoma. now I have gm motor and transmission. ford axles. atlas transfer case. and as much American fiberglass as I can get on it. Toyota quality is a myth
4.9... Windsor 302 is a 4.9.... The Chevy 305 is the 5.0..... Swear to God, Ford drivers are the 5'9 dudes who insist they're 6 foot, of the automotive world.
300k miles or 482k non cave man unit cars are not uncommon in Australia at all, we have multiple 2wd sedans and wagons that are nearly all still reliable as at that many kms
Quick Silver Chevrolet stands for cracks heads, every values rattles, oil leaks, engine ticks. That’s a fact, and actually that joke was originally a Chevy joke:)
Personally, I like both and my family has been driving both for years. The thing is that you have to remember that Chevrolet, even after he had his own motor car company, made racing parts for Ford Model Ts. Even the founder of Chevy respected the other brand and probably raced one a few times in his life.
My grandfather owned nothing but Fords his entire life. One reason was because during the Great Depression, he was a mechanic and owned a service garage. He would see new cars like Plymouth's come in and have their engine block sleeved. Whereas Ford would scrap the block (melt back down) if the block got messed up during manufacturing, other companies would simply bore out the mistake and then sleeve it and put it in the new car. I don't believe Chevy (GM) sleeved blocks though, but apparently Chrysler did.
+TheSoloAsylum I've only owned 1 Dodge, but not for a reason. I bought a 1998 Durango 5.9L 4x4, and that thing was an absolute TANK. When I sold it, it had 266K miles on it, and I had only started getting the standard issue trans problems around 264K. It still drove just fine, it was just picky about where it shifted out of 1st gear, after that it was fine though. Honestly, couldn't have asked for a better vehicle, it never left me stranded, it pulled anything that I wanted it to, and it would embarrass guys off the line - it was quick! I know there are some people out there that get lemons and that my story isn't too common, but that was probably one of the best vehicles I ever owned.
Phantom197 chevy only had that problem because people didn't like them and then all the revalls of the shitty makes, the trucks didn't have many problems, ford has so many problems, the batteries die faster, the axel isn't as good, and chevy and gm have the extra strength so they can pull themselves outta the. mud when you need them to, they come with that, but the ford requires you to buy it as an extra just so you have that capability, ford has had so many problems over the years, their trucks are unbalanced with strength, flexability, and durability, so over all they're 75% as good as chevy, also the ford trucks have a harder time hauling because the frame isn't as strong, people say ford has more power but it doesn't, if the frame and axels can't match the capabilities of the engine strength, then don't even look at it, a good truck is judged by it's ability of efficiencie, durability, and strength, chevy lives up to that, that's why they do recalls and be honest about it, ford doesn't always do that, that's why chevy has so many recalls because they want people to get what they pay for, so they get back and give what the people deserve, not what they have being shoved in their faces by the commercials, also chevy has had a lot of trouble with stuff over the years, but that's cause it's a younger company, but it's still kickin ford's ass by far, another thing is that even when you have a strong and well working axel, that doesn't mean the rest of the truck is good, that just shows that they only put effort into specific parts, not all of them
+D Pow Yup I'm a Chevy/GM and now Toyota man and especially when it comes down to diesel trucks I love my Duramax I dragged a 24' enclosed cargo trailer from the east end of the Canadian Prairie to the west end at the end of June loaded down with the contents of our house and just like a GM designed and built locomotive (EMD now owned by Cat) she rolled a little coal, hunkered down and still managed to do 65 mph or 110km/hr. And my other Chevy truck a 1/4 ton with 215,000km on the odometer did a stand up job in the summer of 2012 when it hauled our camping gear and a 1200 pound tent trailer through the mountains of British Columbia including the Coquihalla hwy and the Crowsnest hwy. And in the fall despite it's small stature it also helped transport several members of our Fire Department to the front lines of a wildfire. 'Like a Rock'!
I once opened the door of a Silverado... The next day my entire neighborhood burned down and Satan himself hotwired and stole the truck. As he drove away he yelled to me "you should have bought a truck that was built tough enough to stop me!" The next day I bought an F Series, and it's built tough. True story.
i work on ford, chevy trucks and dodge everyday from 1500 to 5500 or 150 to 550 they all have downside but i will still pick chevy/gmc its easy to maintain, unlike ford their engineer are drunk sometimes but they have a great trucks
+ebu touy Im from a family of auto technicians and that is also our consensus! The Fords rust, break, and wear out faster and , they tend to be much more time consuming to fix when they do need a repair. I've seen countless examples of customers needing seemingly simple repairs that cost them hundreds or thousands of dollars!! I'm convinced their engineers were all drunk when they designed Fords trucks. Every shop in our area makes a living fixing broken Fords and the shop owners/techs mostly drive GM or Dodge. People like fords because they are cheaper to buy... and, it shows in the build quality!
+v5u7sulh2 I know of a F-250 diesel that got the particle filter jammed. The turbo broke as a consequence. To change the turbo, the entire cab frame had to be lifted from the chassis. Lukily it was covered by the warranty but it took 2 months.
+v5u7sulh2 its not just their trucks that the engineers were drunk for. replacing the water pump in my mother in law's focus wagon required lowering the engine out the car to get it to clear the frame... the garage wanted $500+ to do it, it's a $60 part! to put that in perspective the whole car cost $1100!!! I wonder why *rolls eyes*
+v5u7sulh2 even if you find the grace of God to start your Chevy good luck keeping the key in the ignition. Also do more research. Inferior trucks like my Dodge and my dads Chevy trucks ARE cheaper.
Ford did take money from the government just not from the TARP like the the other 2 did. Instead they got there bailout money from Ford Credit borrowed $15.9 billion dollars from the TAFT as opposed to GMC, GM’s financing arm which borrowed $13.9 billion. These numbers make the perception that Ford was the only Detroit-based company that didn’t need a federal handout during the economic crash completely false.
They're both good, in their own ways. Reliability all comes down to not just how well they were built but also how well you take care of it as an owner. \
My Family has had a cattle ranch in mexico for a little under 100 yrs. In the middle of no where and the roads are really harsh. They only use ford vehicles because the chevy axles would always brake on them. something about the fords having a solid front axle or something. I went down there to visit(in a 08 F150) this summer and out of 100 Ford trucks there was maybe 2 chevys and 1 dodge. Also at my work ( oilfield ) 8 out of 10 trucks are ford. They tried using dodge since they where so cheap but after the first round went back to ford.
My dad rented trucks to oilfield companys back in the 70's he told me the Ford's would last three times longer than chevs and Chev lasted twice as long as the dodge. Problem with the dodge was not the drive train but the truck around it would fall apart in the abusive oilfield. Needless to say they only kept a couple dodge and Chevy trucks around for guys who didn't know any better.
All you guys talking about the government bail out for Chevy need to realize that Ford DID take money from the government. Not Chevy's fault though honestly, their trucks are so reliable that no one needs to buy a "new model" cause their 20 year old Chevy still runs and drives just fine while Fords have to be replaced about as often as your toothbrush.
Aaron Hamilton I must say Chevy made literally an amazing truck, my neighbor has pretty close daily drove his 1980 ish chev I don’t know all the specs of his truck he keeps to himself for the most part but he’s plowed snow pretty every year I’ve ever lived next to him 16 years I think we also salt our roads too thing hasn’t even rusted out yet! But most chevs these days aren’t chevs ain’t like they used to be chev made a AMAZING truck until the 90s and it’s been downhill since
@@keeganfoster1792 I gotta disagree somewhat I think Chevy really changed for the worse around 2006. All their OBS and NBS trucks are every bit of a half million mile truck. My 97 Tahoe had 310,000 and drove like the day it came off the lot.
owned 3 fords, 3 chevys, never got stranded in chevy. sold them for good money, explorer (wifes)blew up 120thow,f-250 cost me 8500 bfore 100thow, sold it for next 2 nothin.ford ranger last longeststill alot of smaller probs, never buy a ford again
kingfish slayer , If I were you and thankfully I'm not, I would spend some money on learning to spell and make use of punctuation. It may at least give the appearance that your not a complete bafoon .
Matthew Gooden no problem . I would have to agree with you about the Chevrolet's sitting in the driveway while the fords did all the work. I guess Ford 150's becoming the #1 selling vehicle of all time having sold over 26,000,000 and counting is because they arent as good as Chevrolet lol ( Original VW bug was #1 for over 40 years with 20,000,000 sold ) In fact Ford trucks have been out selling and staying on the road longer then GMC, Chevrolet and Dodge trucks for over 90 years straight. ( actual fact not opinion) And that is a fact that is easily verifiable with just a bit of time spent online doing some simple reading . Chevy's and Dodges from the early 1900s to the 1940s are very rare but Millions of Model Ts and Model A Ford cars and trucks are still running and driveable . Lots of Chevrolet engines have been stuck into those early Fords not because Chevrolet Small Blocks are better or more abundant then Ford Small Blocks. The Chevy croud just cant find old Chevrolet cars to Hot Rod because Along with early Dodge vehicles most rusted away or were scrapped 75 years ago. There are Ford that are over 100 years old still running with the original running gear that hasnt been rebuilt . I build Hot Rods and custom Cars, Trucks and other vehicles. And Chevrolet vehicles got very popular because GM put a 4 barrel on almost everything back in the day . While most Fords had 2 barrels unless a GT etc. Chevy's were faster then most Fords because of this fact. But very very few SBC vehicles performed as well as a Ford with a factory 4 barrel . Early 289 Mustangs with a 4 barrel were quicker, Handled much better then similarly equiped Chevrolet. And surveys that were taken by independent automobile publication's openly confirmed without any doubt that 1 in 3 Chevy owners was just as dumb as the other 2 ;)
@Nicholas Russell My grandfather was driving his 89 dakota one time through an intersection with the sun directly next to the traffic light... He thought he was clear, turns out he wasn't... slammed into a newer Mitsubishi eclipse head on, it shoved the engine straight through the firewall and broke the eclipse drivers leg.. The dodge however.. It just bent the bumper, and my 80 some odd year old grandfather walked away with no injury. So I ended up buying an 88 Dakota, had an autozone master cylinder in it needless to say. IT FAILED going down a steep hill, in front of me was a box truck with a solid steel rear lift gate.. He slammed on his brakes and I slammed into his rear lift gate 30mph to 0mph.. Again, it moved my bumper out of adjustment, I just simply un-bolted it and adjusted it back you can't even tell anything happened lol. They DO NOT make trucks like that anymore, wich is why I still daily drive it with 1/2 a million miles on the clock. Its stronger in every aspect than a modern colorado or ranger equivalent. I agree the old Fords are tanks as well.
My dad grew up in his dads junk yard and his job during some tough economic times during the war was to cut cars in two with a broad ax. This needed to be done as they could not haul them whole to the scrap yard and they were required to scrap most for the steel to go into the war effort. They could not afford to use oxy/acetylene until they got down to just the frame rails. He has always been completely non brand loyal with Ford and Chevy but maintains still today that he could cut 2 Fords or 3 Chevrolets in a days time.
haha love the story Cody, Im still a Chevy guy at heart always will be(even though my daily driver is a Chrysler, lol) , but I have a sense of humor so I still loved the video :)
I have heard you tell this story many times before and I love it everytime. I'm personally a Chevy man but my father is Ford till the end. I have to admit his F350 just goes and goes....
Used to be a die hard Chevy guy...started off with a S10, then had a 1500, then 2500. You couldn't put me in another Chevy if I won the damn thing. I basically was NAPA's finest customer till I bought a brand new 2011 F250 diesel. Best pickup I've ever driven. It has everything anyone would need. Comfort, class, efficiency, and boatloads of power. Plus they look great.
@@YankeeDoodle2 😂 they are easier and cheaper to build. The only ford motor that will not make more power than a chevy is 5.4 vs 5.3. Any other ford motor will make just as much if not more power when built
@@xXxFroztyy Thats the dumbest comment I've seen in a while. I was just at the Good Guys car show last weekend and plenty of Ford powerplants in old Ford's. Chevys are completely overrated.
Why don't you attach bicycle pedals a seat and a pair of wheels to your axle and ride it? It's not just the axles that make a truck. Ford has a pretty bad quality control and is made of low quality steel. I'm a mechanic and I just hate working on them fords. I have a bunch of friends that call me in the middle of the night because the Ford they are driving doesn't start, runs rough or has a leaking brake caliper. I'll never drive a Ford even if I get one for free. It rides rough, there is no protection when it rolls over and the frame that they say is tough bends so you can't even open the tailgate.
I like your story, my grandfather during ww2 worked on jeeps, when he came home he worked 35 years for GM, by dad followed him and worked 28 years. My family has ONLY EVER drove Chevy cars and trucks, never even thought about getting something else.
As a Ford guy respect to your family for being loyal to your brand. My family is the same way. It's family's like ours that have made the 2 brands who they are. It goes back generations
+Steve M I'm not sure i'm ready to whack that hive. While I'm at it I"ll talk about how terrible 1911's are and throw in some Bible verses that prove it.
+Wranglerstar i have a bible verse to prove its the best hand gun ... Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war........ is it taken out of context for my purposes ......maybe ...LOL
+David James I'd say thats Nearly correct, I love the Square body and I would choose it over any other truck, But the New Ram trucks (2015-2016) are really amazing, They go further than any other company.
+YaBoiScoots the ecoboost i think is great for anybody that needs a do it all truck, someone who can only really buy one vehicle but needs to tow and doesnt want to get horrendous gas mileage
***** hmm haven't heard that but if its true i agree. I actually never thought about reliability in that way but then again look at diesels, although thats another subject entirely isnt it?
+David James I can't. I've had a 1971 F-100 300cu/in , 1980 F350 460cu/in, 1988 F250 4.9l, 1990 F250 7.3l, 1994 F250 5.8l, 2000 F150 7700 5.4l, and 2000 F250 7.3l. Every one of them I bought when they were just about worn out. If I had my pick of any of them brand new, I wouldn't hesitate on getting the 2000 F250 7.3l. It's just nicer. It has 215K on it and still going strong. A 1980 with 215K is an extreme exception. Most of any brand crapped out between 100 and 150k, if you were lucky. many went to the junkyard with under 100K
Thats a true but misleading statement . You know ALL FORD TRUCKS ARE F-SERIES . Thats pick-ups , stake trucks , dump trucks , tractor-trailer trucks , ambulances , every Truck , except Vans . (They're E-series) Ford guys think they're bragging about pick-ups
Technically not true because gm splits sales between Silverado and Sierra and there have been multiple years where Sierra and Silverado sales FAR exceeded f series sales
+Tenspeed TheBikeHanger yes Toyota trucks are awesome. So awesome the price is to high. Resale is to high. If you can even find used ones. I can't afford one. So I drive a gmc. I love it btw.
Tenspeed TheBikeHanger") I agree with that but for the sake of the Ford vs. Chevy, I have always been a Chevy guy. Corvette over Thunderbird, Bel Air over Galaxie, Camaro over Mustang, Chevelle over Grand Torino. I do agree that Ford trucks were built with better materials for a time but I have always preferred the look of the Chevy and they were plenty tough. Toyota took some time to come out with a "full-size" pick up but the HiLux series was a great truck.
LOL. I agree- do a "which caliber is best?" video next. As for trucks, I've worked for Ford, Chevy and Ram dealers selling trucks, and I've spoken to the mechanics who fix them. I have my own preference, but I will say a couple of things: 1. They all work really good. 2. They all are long lasting and reliable. 3. The fierce competition for buyers is really good for the consumer. Take a look at what you would pay for a new truck if you bought one today. Then go and look at cars for the same price. I think you will be amazed at how much you get for your dollar when you buy a truck.
What a bunch of bull... Why don't you see a lot of ford swaps?? because Ford makes bad and unreliable engines. Facts are facts, Cheap to build, it appears you are pretty much stuck with you head up where the sun doesn't shine. The problem with Ford engines is that they just have not produced the horsepower and torque for real racing applications. The only engine that has made the grade is not available as an option except in the Mustang and yet both the Camaro and Challenger out horsepower it. Lets see why it might be cheaper to build... First off it doesn't take a lot to in crease horsepower or torgue, whereas Fords require some major rework just to get a few extra horses. Second, SBC & BBC blocks have been tested time after time as strong and long lasting, Ford can not make that claim. I have owned 2 Chevy trucks, 3 Dodge Trucks, and 2 Ford trucks. The first Ford I had spent more time in the dealer's shop than on the road, 2 351 engines and one transmission later it was gone. 2nd Ford did not last as long as the first. Working in construction I average between 90k to 120k miles a year. No Ford has lasted over a year and a half. I've taken a beating on Fords and i will never have another POS Ford again.
The Angry Fish Guy Actually they did. Almost $6 Billion in bailout funds. The belief they didn’t is ridiculous. Oh and they haven’t paid it back either.
Henry Ford took out bankruptcy twice when his company was young. So the American public kept him going without their knowledge. Look it up!!! If you are capable.
Howabouthetruth I've worked on one of those Toyota rear diffs. before. They are quite a bit alike inside. I wouldn't know about the new Ford trucks with the weird spark plugs that you say break apart when you try to take them out because don't like the newer vehicles much at all. Much of the new stuff is design to be a royal pain to work on. Honestly, I wouldn't own anything that doesn't us a good old distributor with a cap and rotor. I prefer the old Fords, Chevys, and Dodges that had a NP435 tranny and Dana axles in them. Hmmm, isn't that interesting Ford, Chevy, and Dodge sourced some of the same parts in their vehicles back then. Considering that, I think the rivalry between the Ford and Chevy guys is a bit childish. (I like'em both) Another thing I'm not impressed with is the number of newer trucks I've heard about where a ball joint snapped under normal driving conditions resulting in the wheel folding up into the wheel well. That's just plain dangerous. I've notice too with the trucks built sometime in the 90's onward that the 1/2 ton trucks seem to have a lighter suspension in them as well. (Trying to get them to ride like a car) A 1/2 ton truck built in 2000 can't handle near the weight that a truck built in 1980 could haul. I've hauled 3,000 lbs. in my old 79' F150 and my neighbor's 85' Chevy many times comfortably, but I doubt a 2015 truck of a comparable model could do the same.
+Chip Wright The ball joints wear out because many factory parts have no lube port and never get re-greased. The mechanics don't even look at them during maintenance and most drivers don't know enough to either. Once the rubber boot tears you get water inside and lose your lubrication, at the same time dirt gets in and wears the surfaces. Eventually the truck drives so bad you take it in and pay big money to replace the parts or it fails while driving. As for the suspension the older trucks mostly had leaf spring rear suspension which was a lot more durable than coils or coil over shock designs that are in use now, but they had a much rougher ride so the companies switch to suit all the people who use their pickup as a daily driver.
That's exactly right about the ball joints. Even of they have a lube port on them they often get neglected. I think there might be one more factor though. I think that on the newer vehicles there is the possibility that they are making the ball joints either lighter duty or with brittle steel. The reason I say that is because I know two people that have had a front wheel cave up into the wheel well after the ball part of the ball joint cracked in half. The first one was my boss's 2000 F150 as he was rolling up to the gas pump at a filling station. The second was another coworker in a similar year Toyota Tundra driving through a gated community at around 20mph. I can understand a worn one separating in half, but the steel part should never crack in half unless of course you're driving like a maniac. As for the rear suspension on trucks, I can't recall seeing a truck that didn't have leaf springs on the rear unless it was heavily customized. I'll have to take a look at some new ones. I know the newer ones use less leaves to get them to ride more like a car. If a person wanted to stiffen up the suspension it's not too bad to add an extra leaf or two I guess.
I live in a small town in Mississippi literally everyone here either drives ford or Chevy I think there both really good trucks I have some friends with chevys and some with fords I've seen both of them be put through pure hell in work or just being stupid racing them on a black top roads. Bottom line is that both are good solid trucks I personally think ford has a better interior and looks and feels more expensive but sometimes it's hard to beat the original big block Chevy.
The guy probably didn't go to the GM dealer because none of their trucks had broken down yet so there weren't any axles lying around lol :) Just joking. Every guy has his own opinions!
I have done construction. Everyone wanted an f150 bcs of how reliable they are. I know the insurance companies charge less for owning an f150 for its reliability. But all f150, sylverados ad ram re good trucks.
I had a Ford and didn't baby it, but I didn't abuse it either. I took good care of it and did all of the maintenance on it, but it had several annoyances for me that have driven me away from Ford and made me choose Dodge instead. The Ford was a lot harder to work on and much more expensive in maintenance. I understand that overall they are more reliable, but seeing that I can fix that kind of stuff myself and save a few bucks for cold beer, it doesn't seem worth it to me to spend that much more time and money on a vehicle when I can buy a cheaper one and make it better without spending more than I would have on my Ford. Personally, the old Fords are better than the new ones and I think the consumer market is catching on.
Yup. On Northern Vancouver Island where there is still active logging, the majority of the trucks used by logging contractors are Fords. You see the odd Chevy or Ram used by surveyors or timber cruisers. But they don't carry as much gear as the loggers do. My '78 Ford F350 dually 4X4, is still in original condition, except for a new rad and u joints. My buddy's newer Ram always needs a wheel alignment when he uses the corduroy roads we have in the hills and mountains here.
You remind me of my Dad. Hard working, living the country life doing everything old fashioned. Wow more power to you Wranglerstar! I'll take a old school Ford f150. 1940s.
All jokes aside I have had the best luck with Jeep, old dodges and Chevy. I am sure that many will agree the old dodge slant 6, the jeep inline engines was awesome. I will be honest I despise Ford with a passion, after working on cars for as long as I have ford is the ones that make them the most complicated and difficult to work on.
Thank God we have free market with multiple brands competing, that makes them all better for us, only the domestic truck are 400 hp plus diesels! What a great lifestyle we have here!
70s fords were good, but the new trucks are junk, frames, engines etc, i dont know how anyone could buy a ford, have the entire frame turn to dust, while spitting out spark plugs, and replacing cam phasers and oil pumps and timing chains etc and go buy another ford to replace the junk one they have, I dont get it
Ford had some great designs and some shit. I guess the location of the parts that frequently break between 1997 and 2007 were a bitch to reach. I cannot fault Ford suspension and gear parts the steel will take a beating. However at the end of the day, nothing is idiot proof.
I was fixing my buddies F150. His relief springs snapped and it was only a 07. when we got the new relief springs it had a big sticker on it that said, "Made in Mexico". so I looked at him, with a sarcastic look and said, "American Made huh?"
2003 Silverado 4.8 654,692 miles no issues, Ford truck I bought last year 35,596- waterpump failure, ac compressor failure, transmission limp mode, cooling fan failed, and the big one, headgasket..
+Sam Wagner you know I don't care as much as the newer Chevys. But I like the older Chevys better because you can find all the parts you want and it's a a lot easier to work on. The only fords I like are the old f100s. But you know you have the Chevy guys and the ford guys and we all have our opinions
+XxD4RK T0XICxX that "fact" was proven by one of the retarded Chevy commercials by dropping rocks in shit from 6 feet into the back of the trucks. Who does that without a liner? Plus ford really didn't do any worse it had two holes the size of a quarter and Chevy got dented to shit. A waste of both trucks.
What do you mean by break down? In tears becuase a shitty Chevy chucked a rod the first 1500 you put on it? Oh well you have fun. My Toaster is more durable than a Chevy.
OK, so gm has bad axles. everyone can tell this, but still I'm glad with the slight chance of a broken axle than the definit problem of everything with a ford.
+Sam Wagner ford motor company has seen so many recalls in the past it's not funny Ford Focus is the first to come to mind or did we forget the engines were dropping out of the cradles going down the road. F-150,250,350 excursion ect dash fires list can go on trust me have 3 family members that work for ford as mechanics
Sam Wagner first off, i don't by domestics anymore, the big 3 have all had their fair share of issues pertaining to hiding shit from the public, the Pinto ring a bell? i remember back in the 70's the big 3 were importing small Japanese pickups and re-badging them as their own, i bet that a lot of Americans who were buying these pickups back in the 70's had no clue they were buying a Japanese truck, i know the F-150 got a 5 star crash rating this year, is that the case every year? does it have airbags that protect your legs in a crash?
Sam Wagner last time i looked it did not have airbags to protect your legs, only the Tundra has those i believe, does the F-150 get the best crash every year?
Really? Anything bigger than a 10.25" is still a full floater, as opposed to a semi floating c clip retained piece of crap like Chevy dodge and Toyota use.
Go drive that Ford crap if you think its so great. I couldn't care less. The 8.8 Ford axle is garbage. If you don't want to believe it, buy one and find out for yourself.
Are you high? The ford 8.8 is a great axle for a light duty truck/4x4. If you throw on some braces between the axle tubes and housing you will have almost zero issues under 300hp. This is also one of the only strong small 5 lug axles with a factory LSD. There super duty axles are also great. People use them in custom off roaders all the time due to their heft and disk brakes. Fords independent suspension such as the mustang irs is also great for a car application or custom rear end swap. Fords is also one of the only companies that offer a high pinion axle for custom axle swaps. This all from a chevy fan.
Axles are heat treated and are made to withstand torque not shockload or for some felontard to hit with a hammer..no gm axles in the junk pile theyre still in the trucks haulin heavy loads and hot bitches
jdr ok thats because the silverado was introduced in the late 90s and the f150 was introduced in 1948 so yeah it's been around a very long time much longer than the silverado so it's bound to have more recalls in its history
Austin B no originally silverado was just a trim package for the c/k trucks so if u include that then yes 1975 is when the were introduced so yeah I did my research I'm talking about when they became their own separate line when the c/k trucks were discontinued and still regardless 1948 comes almost 3 decades before 1975 so the f150 has still been around longer
I laughed! It's funny that some many people took this video so seriously. Personally, I'm not a Ford fan. Call it luck, or lack thereof, but every time I was stuck on the side of the road, I had been driving a Ford. Found On Road Dead was what I drove...or walked away from to find a pay phone...yeah, those tiny buildings with corded phones in them.
I own a 1963 f-250 piece of shit looking work truck not a parked in the garage and wash on Sunday truck. A stump pulling, load hauling work truck, I've owned for 27 years. The 223 ci inline 6 is one of fords worst engines. Mine turned over 500.000 miles in November 2009, and it broke down a lot, but there was always something i could do to get me home. It never left me stranded, even in July 1996 when it threw a rod, and i had to drive it 230 miles on 5 cylinders. The hole in the block was below the water jacket and the rod cap was on the crank, the wrist pin failed.I replaced the rod and .40 over piston and kept the old rod bearing. It lasted till July 2016 when i replaced it with a brand new engine that sat in a barn for 50 years in Salem Oregon. I still have the old motor to rebuild one more time, even though the hole I repaired in 1996 opened back up and needs re-welded.
My grand dad was a ford guy until he got a big nice rv and the transmission's kept going out. He went theough 3 transmissions (2 different trucks) and finally said screw it and bought an 07 duramax 3500 and has had it since with no issues. Only time he had to fix it was to replace a back fender because a buck ran into the side of his truck going down 306 north of san antonio. Seeing this ill always buy a chevy.
I work in the tire business. I had to put a spare tire away on a Silverado and the cable and pulley were acting already. The truck was only 3 year old!! Real nice GM!
Troy tennison I was exaggerating at 5 miles, but quit kidding around you don't need to exaggerate too, its only funny the first time. I'll give you a couple zeros, meanig 2.
Every 2 miles then in your trailer park vehicle. I drive between 3 states and in the 20+ years see more chevys on the side of road than anything. Newer ones too, everything else is 10+ years old. Buy American or any other brands (if you're smart enough) but the trailer park 3 (Chevy, gmc, and Cadillac) and not support the trailer parks. Get an education beyond the 3rd grade! chevy...find new trailers.
I work in a transmission shop and all most all the truck transmission being repaired are GM I'm not bashing them but the fact remains GM should have corrected this 20 years ago when this problem first began.
lol you make many false accusations and what the fuck is a mining company going to use a pickup for they use real machinery not half tone pickups you goon like all they would use a truck for is driving around and moving generaters an little shit you could do with a ford ranger if need be
I do want another Chevy(C2500 HD), the one I have is right at 18 years old and over 200,000 miles and is awesome. Original pads even and I'm not even sure how that's possible. Getting another one or GMC next time, so is my Ford buddy after his experience with his and knowing mine, as well as letting him borrow it for hauling loads.
Lets talk about how shitty the tritan motors are,or the 6.0 powerstroke.ford blows.i'll stick with a chevy, vortec and duramax are way more reliable thats a fact.
strange? as the strongest axle in a factory pick-up truck is the chevy 14 bolt. in factory trim it is stronger than a dana 80. and parts are available everywhere. do it having been on the market for so long with no changes.
Maybe you should have gone with a less controversial topic, like Democrat vs Republican or Christianity vs Islam...just a thought. LOL.

My dirty max. 300000 + runs like a top. If you change oils and take a lil care they will all go along time
Real question is what year is the Chevy because both brands have just gotten cheaper and less reliable as the years go. Both brands older models are extremely reliable
from a mechanics standpoint. all trucks have pro's and con's. I like all three. Chevy, Ford, and dodge trucks.
brian6265 they should get together and make one good truck
daniel verhelst Fummison, look it up
As a mechanic you must really hate Toyota because they don't bring you any business like the other three do.
I was going to say sort of the same thing, I've owned or worked on them all at some point and in all honesty I dislike all vehicle brands, theirs always a list of flaws I don't care who built it, I do happen to drive a chevy but that's just because it was a steal at the time and everyone needs a truck
brian6265 what about Toyota?
that was back when the axles were made in America
Johnny Rocket do your self a favor take the Ford Rouge Plant tour and then tell me how foreign made the trucks are the transmission are made in Livonia Michigan and Sharonville Ohio if you have never been to a American vehicle manufacturing plant and a Japanese manufacturing plant in America how would you know about how much is made in the US and over seas the Mexican plants are there for over flow like a line goes down
The Tundra has the same percentage of American made parts as the F-150
Ford and Chevy are both great they both have their legendary designs and they both have their lemons
I drive a 5.3L ‘14 silverado 1500 great truck but I turn my head every time I see a ford too
I have to agree, personally, I would take a Chevy Silverado or a Toyota Tundra over a Ford Raptor or F-150 any day. But Fords still do get my attention every day.
My 4.9L 1988 F250 big block straight 6 787K miles no rebuilds, betcha the Dodge and Chevy straight 6 engines taken care of the same way last equally long, but man that 300 cid big block 6 pulls everything I've ever tried tug of war with
Xtermin8r187 B but Chevy just copies Ford now after bashing them on their frame

tbone3366 must’ve been a beast!
Lets just agree that if you want a pickup truck, you better buy American
Trevor Roth My father has a Tacoma, its not bad but seriously, if your getting a truck, get a real American truck. Its where the US auto market shines best nowadays.
millions of people should and need to be deported also
+Trevor Roth
I bought my Tacoma. now I have gm motor and transmission. ford axles. atlas transfer case. and as much American fiberglass as I can get on it. Toyota quality is a myth
Brad Pike Japanese quality may have been true in the 1980s and 1990s but its a marketing myth today, plus lots of their cars are boring imo.
Brad Pike The Tundra is mostly, but so is the F-150 which I can vouch for
My 96' Ford truck has almost 300K on it. Sure it may have an occasional electrical issue, but almost 300K on a 5.0 aint bad...
Thats not bad at all that is in the league of most Toyotas that age and long surpassing all Chevys and newer Fords
Those years.. The fords where bulletproof! V6 V8 and PSD they had a great run!
I had a 92 with same mileage all I replaced was a starter
Got a 1978 ford with about 600,000 miles it's been my daily driver for years and still is
I like how I see 9th gen 350s rolling down the street with 300,000 plus miles
FUSIONESS 24 most importantly built to last unlike other companies
You know that Chevy says 95% of chevy are still on the road today because the other 5% made it home
Stolen from 101 ford facts. Ford even made shoes to walk home after their cars break down

@@SamuraiAtlas If u cant dodge it ram it lol no im jking chevys the best
I don't believe Chevy (GM) sleeved blocks though, but apparently Chrysler did.
your grandfather was awesome
Thank you! He was an old farmer when I was a kid, but he told me about the engine blocks and I remembered it for some reason.
You're welcome
Dodge owners should always carry a good pair of walking shoes...
+TheSoloAsylum and ford owners should always invest in the heated tailgate package
+ImZingL Of couse, it's only courteous to give the Chevy owners a place to thaw their hands before they attach the tow rope.

Lets stack up the facts. F150, best selling vehicle in America since 1981. Chevy, a few government bailouts.
Brad Pike But the shitty old walmart shirt has been reliable, fast, and generally badass. Who wears an adidas shirt? chevy guys thats who.
Phantom197 statistics sourced from the back of a cereal box...
diego chavez huh?
Phantom197 chevy only had that problem because people didn't like them and then all the revalls of the shitty makes, the trucks didn't have many problems, ford has so many problems, the batteries die faster, the axel isn't as good, and chevy and gm have the extra strength so they can pull themselves outta the. mud when you need them to, they come with that, but the ford requires you to buy it as an extra just so you have that capability, ford has had so many problems over the years, their trucks are unbalanced with strength, flexability, and durability, so over all they're 75% as good as chevy, also the ford trucks have a harder time hauling because the frame isn't as strong, people say ford has more power but it doesn't, if the frame and axels can't match the capabilities of the engine strength, then don't even look at it, a good truck is judged by it's ability of efficiencie, durability, and strength, chevy lives up to that, that's why they do recalls and be honest about it, ford doesn't always do that, that's why chevy has so many recalls because they want people to get what they pay for, so they get back and give what the people deserve, not what they have being shoved in their faces by the commercials, also chevy has had a lot of trouble with stuff over the years, but that's cause it's a younger company, but it's still kickin ford's ass by far, another thing is that even when you have a strong and well working axel, that doesn't mean the rest of the truck is good, that just shows that they only put effort into specific parts, not all of them
"The shitty old walmart shirt has been reliable, fast, and generally badass." This is how you can tell a Ford fan. Never knowing what quality is like.
I love ya Wranglerstar, but I'm die hard Chevy. You shall never convert me!
+D Pow I understand. The whole thing is a bit tongue and cheek,
+D Pow Yup I'm a Chevy/GM and now Toyota man and especially when it comes down to diesel trucks I love my Duramax I dragged a 24' enclosed cargo trailer from the east end of the Canadian Prairie to the west end at the end of June loaded down with the contents of our house and just like a GM designed and built locomotive (EMD now owned by Cat) she rolled a little coal, hunkered down and still managed to do 65 mph or 110km/hr.
+bert26a Nice story by the way, semi-truck axles can also make good pry bars and heavy punches for pushing out excavator bucket pins.
+D Pow Its ok we can't make you be right :)
+ebu touy 1st step of repairing a superduty = pull the cab off.
I love it, because it's so true.

Ford holds up better, because of their suspension and Drivetrain. Back in 07, they started using triple u-joints which better support the truck
FORD TRUCKS ARE USED EXTENSIVELY IN FLEET VEHICLES.. SO THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING
And surveys that were taken by independent automobile publication's openly confirmed without any doubt that 1 in 3 Chevy owners was just as dumb as the other 2 ;)
Oh yeah like those reliable power strokes diesel's or the tritons that blew spark plugs out the head ? You're a joker......
Now ford is making aluminum trucks that wont hold up.
Chevy also...
I agree the old Fords are tanks as well.
good story, well told. reminds me of stories my grandpa told from his days of cutting wood up near Bremerton. he swung an axe up into his 70s.

I've always had better luck with chevy then with ford. All the fords I've had experience have ended up being junk

+Steve M I'm not sure i'm ready to whack that hive. While I'm at it I"ll talk about how terrible 1911's are and throw in some Bible verses that prove it.
+Wranglerstar That's why Moses wasn't allowed into the promised land, he had a 1911 and God is a Glock fan.
+Steve M 9mm is not the best, that is why they made the .45!! LOL

The real, absolute facts are Chevy is the best!
Can somebody agree that no great trucks have been built since the 80's?
+David James I'd say thats Nearly correct, I love the Square body and I would choose it over any other truck, But the New Ram trucks (2015-2016) are really amazing, They go further than any other company.
+YaBoiScoots the ecoboost i think is great for anybody that needs a do it all truck, someone who can only really buy one vehicle but needs to tow and doesnt want to get horrendous gas mileage
***** hmm haven't heard that but if its true i agree. I actually never thought about reliability in that way but then again look at diesels, although thats another subject entirely isnt it?
94-98 ford 7.3?

Thomas Fletcher ambulances are E series bud
Technically not true because gm splits sales between Silverado and Sierra and there have been multiple years where Sierra and Silverado sales FAR exceeded f series sales

+mdbigman the first step in getting help is to admit that you have a problem; you're on the right path. we're here to support you.
+Tenspeed TheBikeHanger yes Toyota trucks are awesome. So awesome the price is to high. Resale is to high. If you can even find used ones. I can't afford one. So I drive a gmc. I love it btw.
+mdbigman its all good he admitted that only ford parts are good when their off the vehicle
Aaron Fletcher LOL Yes indeed! I had no need to convert my 3/4 ton Chevy into "splitting wedges"! It always ran!
It's neat but I hate it. I want rolly windows steel wheels and a single cab.
they all have there flaws its all how you treat them, me i've tended to have better luck with chevys
I’ve had chevys and fords and dodges, ive has the most luck with fords and chevys
Chevy engines most popular swap for all racing applications just saying
Not because the are the best but because they are the cheapest to build, Wal-Mart is also the cheapest,
wes harris is hot💟💞👠👚👛👜👝👡👒📿💄💍💍
i
What a bunch of bull...
I've taken a beating on Fords and i will never have another POS Ford again.
when did you own the fords?
90% of Ford trucks are still on the road today. The other 10% actually made it home...
And FORD didn't take the bail out...
The Angry Fish Guy Actually they did. Almost $6 Billion in bailout funds. The belief they didn’t is ridiculous.
Oh and they haven’t paid it back either.
they did, but even if they didn't what makes them any better of a quality truck? NOTHING
Henry Ford took out bankruptcy twice when his company was young. So the American public kept him going without their knowledge. Look it up!!! If you are capable.
It wasn't bailout money. It was a grant... there's a difference kids.
@@comradeeverclear4063 do some reading. Where you got this news from is fake.
Even the diehard Chevy guys will admit that Ford did good by the 9in. diff. and the Mustang II suspension :)
(I like'em both)
Another thing I'm not impressed with is the number of newer trucks I've heard about where a ball joint snapped under normal driving conditions resulting in the wheel folding up into the wheel well.
That is right Cody go Ford.
Great anecdote!
I've heard that Toyota Tundra axles are actually made from recycled soda pop cans.

I have done construction. Everyone wanted an f150 bcs of how reliable they are. I know the insurance companies charge less for owning an f150 for its reliability. But all f150, sylverados ad ram re good trucks.
We're you just chopping wood and thought, well I got this video camera, might as well talk about trucks😂
Today they all seem to be losing on the long term quality front.
I'll take a old school Ford f150. 1940s.
I love Fords, I made allot of money off of them when I was a mechanic. that's why I drive a Chevy.
Thats what happens when they outsell all other brands. There are more on the road.
MY FERD IS BEST FERD
Ford ftw
oh this is hilarious. ford steel lolololol i almost died laughing . especially since now they are aluminum
I was fixing my buddies F150. His relief springs snapped and it was only a 07. when we got the new relief springs it had a big sticker on it that said, "Made in Mexico". so I looked at him, with a sarcastic look and said, "American Made huh?"

+Sam Wagner you know that the newer fords have weaker beds and weaker body's than a Chevy with the high strength steal
+Sam Wagner you know I don't care as much as the newer Chevys. But I like the older Chevys better because you can find all the parts you want and it's a a lot easier to work on. +XxD4RK T0XICxX all we own is gm and I am not saying it has happened to us, but I've seen 2 times at truck pulls
Sam Wagner The F-150 has been the most recalled vehicle in history
Chevy rusts to fast and every time you turn around your Chevy needs parts. I like Ford.
Bill gsmit true Chevy's do rust fast this is a fact
Well times change buddy. Ford axles now are garbage and yes I speak from the unfortunate experience of owning one.
Red Horse you call the 8.8 garbage, yet you give no actual proof of it being garbage.
It's garbage. Don't waste my time with that cheerleader routine. I got to experience these axles first hand. They're junk.
Axles are heat treated and are made to withstand torque not shockload or for some felontard to hit with a hammer..no gm axles in the junk pile theyre still in the trucks haulin heavy loads and hot bitches
No disrespect but there all made to mess up idc what brand it is
Ford F series holds the all time record as the most recalled vehicle in US history. Look it up!
gm has more recalls look it up!! the silverados have the most recalls
Tim Sharpe Silverados have less recalls then the f series lol funny part is its true lol
jdr ok thats because the silverado was introduced in the late 90s and the f150 was introduced in 1948 so yeah it's been around a very long time much longer than the silverado so it's bound to have more recalls in its history
Joshua Smith late 90s are you kidding me they were introduced in 1975 with the c\k. Do your research
Ford makes better axles, GM makes better motors. Chrysler makes better lawn ornaments. XD

GMC got a mechanic coming along with another recall and bailout.
And I was always in a Chevy when I was stranded on a highway . Stop making stories up
My grand dad was a ford guy until he got a big nice rv and the transmission's kept going out.

Get an education beyond the 3rd grade! chevy...find new trailers.
