MONSTER-ON! got mine today and it's an amazing turntable ,a bit heavy to transport, if you are a club dj ,but you can jump on the turntable and it doesn't affect the stylus , it is fantastic! and the sound! a clear fantastic sound ,great design modern. cons ,no cover dust ,need to get for $20 one on ebay and its made on fabric material ,not hard plastic. Great review Kny!! Greetings from Argentina
NIce review. I see that it has both phono and line outputs. Question: when it is set to phono output, do you know if it's a straight signal right from the cartridge, or does it still have to go through the electronics (capacitors, etc.). Thanks for posting.
I might have to admit, a "S" tonearm is more superior to looks and scratching. It has a cool curvish look and it lines up better that a str8 tonearm. I also want one of these because it has a reverse toggle. How many decks have reverse buttons? Vestax and numark have one but stanton is the real deal. It just spreads quality. If you like listening for backwards messiges in songs, this is the perfect turntable. I love TANTON! it powns!!!!
I just picked up a TTX and I love it, but it feels like a toy in some respects. This turntable looks gorgeous and well engineered. The tonearm base looks really well designed, which is the weakest part of the TTX compared to 1200s.
Hey Freddy Mnemonic, I am a certified Panasonic Tech who now runs my own pro audio shop.Just to get you up to speed, Wow and flutter does not make a difference when djing and skratching when adjusting the pitch control (you are constantly moving the record/platter with your hands). the drive is FG servo designed just like a 1200 ,same magnet design direct drive .Any good dj can adjust easily from 1200 to these and they are more than good enough. Mines are like a decade old and I have 6 of them. My 1200s are in rentals-don't need them anymore.
i'm glad someone else agrees with me. i have 1200s(as u can see by my vids) but they have been long outdated and there have been better turntables than those for years.
No Im telling you they are solid sick! The pitch controll is insane!! With 3 pitch settings along with the pitch controll, there has never been a turntable with as many speeds and pitches..
that piece of paper trick works amazingly the feel of Pioneer cdjs seriously no joke. and if u put to much it locks up and actually loops a piece of that vinyl that I drop the needle on
ive just picked up a pair of str8 150s cheep...the guy before me had them for around 3 years and still the motors, buttons and tone arms are as solid as the day they were new :) ive owned 1210s and these ARE better imo but ive only owned them for like 4 days lol i loved my techs dont get me wrong but the 150s are a step ahead so far in every way and that torq....WOW :)
Theres nothing wrong about this wonderful Wheel of Steel it's built like a tank about 20 shows and 10 parties and always comes through never once have I regretted rocking on this turntable! The pitch is smooth like butter you can drop it down and do Dj Screw joints RIP my friend! Take you worst platter hugging record put it on the STR-8 and see if you can stop the platter. I have been a Dj the past 30 years and I made the switch without out a thought trust me! All I have is my balls and my word
Thats a question I cant answer sorry. Maybe you can help me. What is the difference between phono and line? With any table and mixer i have had: when hook up through line it is very quiet and does not seem to do anything good??
I have a question about the pitch control. It has 6 dots on each side I think, if you count the plus-mark and the minus. But how much in % is one dot at pitch of 8?
OK, have you tried the top of the Shure Stylus on this, it will more than likely prevent most skips on your turntable, for a more reasonable price than ortofon stylus and cartridge!
@vdjpepper There is a small space where the tone arm goes into the table and swivels. It is roughly a 3mm gap that you wants to wedge a small piece of paper into to put a sort of tension on the arm. When you are looking at your ST TT you should figure it out quickly, it will be obvious where you want to wedge the paper.
No!!! The MK2 is a piece of junk. It's super light and is not anything like the build quality of this one. Also the tone arm weights on the MK2 are too light and you can't properly balance your cartridges. You made the right choice!
@@jasonhardy142 I'm telling you, the MK7 is junk too, nothing like the original Technics. You chose a great table. The only others I would recommend along side of the Stantons are Reloop 7000/8000, Pioneer PLX 1000, or audio technica lp 1240. They are all made out of the same internals at the same factory along with the Stanton 150. Basically all the same tables... I couldn't believe how shitty the Technic MK7 was made. Such a shame...
@@FaderFlosser Thanks for the heads up, I'm just waiting on delivery so I can play my old vinyl collection. Another thing I was only able to get the straight arm version so I am hoping it plays well🙂
@@jasonhardy142 yep, straight arm is better for scratching and those tables are made for Djing but will play your vinyl just the same. Enjoy your new table! Now get another one and a mixer and get into Djing! Lol
Straight tone arm and s tone arm depends on people's preference but with s tone arm it also depends hope you position your stylus and height. But with str8 it's much easier
im super late on this video lol i picked up a set from a tweeker for the cheap but i was reading some of the comments and see alot of bickering and all i can say is that a skilled dj can make damn near any table work.
Could some long term Stanton ST150 owners please comment as impartially as possible on how they have found their buttons & tone arms to be working after a few years (not months) of use. I have seen Technics owners who have also bought Stanton's, write that the Technics have lasted more than 10 years without any problems but the Stanton's buttons need to be pushed extra firmly after a couple of years & also there are problems with the gimbal becoming loose on the tone arms. Thanks.
I have the Stanton Str8-150 & if you adjust the arm and weight correctly you won't need that paper. I have tested mine by slapping the hell out of my desk and never skips, I literally have to punch the table continuously to make it skip.
Hello sir does Stanton st 150 needs to be lube spindle or needs to be oiled any parts, I have it more than three years play it everyday two hours, still working fine , please let me know thanks
Yes the tone arm has a flaw easily fixed by a tiny piece of paper. These tables are half the price of Techs so if your a serious Dj that does not have 2 grand to spend on a pair its a good option.
@djreadyred I just think people are afraid of their name cause its not a 1200. I think that most people would love them if they were able to see, feel and try. I could never go to a 1200 after getting used to a 4.5 kg torque motor vs 1.7kg. Im glad you see the light!
I have heard countless people say that you need to do the same thing with the paper on the STR8 - 150's aswell if that's the case then it has nothing to do with the anti-skate i'm not sure if it's a fault by stanton or there just ment to be like that i own the STR8 - 150's i don't do scratching so the tone arms are no problem for me.
I saw a video on here of a guy who had the Audio Technica 1240’s (another Super OEM deck) & to use his Dicers he just popped the extra start/stop buttons with a knife. 👌
The 1240 comes with a second start stop, but also has a nipple to put the spacer, dunno why they would've wanted to remove the button on it, butcher it much.
If you can get Technics SL1200 (1210 for in europe) cheap, then go for them. Otherwise, get a super-oem turntable. Any of them, really, chose the one that looks the best to you since they're 99% technicly identical. Mixers are difficult, I think the Eccler Nuo 2.0 is a great one, it's fully analoge too so you don't loose the vinyl audio quality. Pioneer DJM 250 have filters built in, but they are digital.
Got these on DJ ReadyReds word. 1200s are now in storage. The paper trick in the tone arm makes the S arms act like they are literally welded to the record! These tables are actually tanks in disguise and just as heavy. I got heavy hands and under the most abusive scratching and juggling these tables are next to impossible to make skip. Move over Technic there is a new kong in town and to think I paid just 700 for the pair brand new!!!!!!
Brake can be adjusted on the technics as well.... the start option is useless....Yes the blue lights are nice and the fact that you can use any audio cables you want and the ground switch is awesome and the line switch as well is awesome..... these weigh 3 times more than technics, but the "performance" is not like a technics... even the drive inside the super OEM tables is not created the same as the technics table....
I can't help but imagine that the "piece of paper trick" would be defeating having correct anti-skate set. Each to their own, but I would expect that to cause some excessive wear similar to that of too much anti-skate.
I have my SL1200 for about 15 years, but now I want to buy new turntables to do live shows with a hiphopcrew. I will use them a lot for scratching and juggling and I don't know if I should go for de ST 150 or for the str8 tonearm. I never had big problems with the technics S-tonearm, but I have no experience at all with straight tonearms... Over here the Stantons with a straight tonearm are about 70$ cheaper. What should i do?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but making these motors run in reverse should be just a reversal of power flow and not something that requires extra moving parts.
@DjAshleyParr That's a good thing not a bad thing, no knock on the Technics they're champs but the ONLY thing Technics can say they have over them is time. I own a set of both, there's nothing Technics that can dot hat this doesn't do better & the only obstacle they have to beat is the test of time.

Thanks for the upload. I understood everything since I had may heart set on getting that same turntable, but what I don't get is the piece of paper you mentioned near the end. Can you talk about that more?
technics is just like gibson guitars, its all in the name. people know the name so they think its the indusry standard. same with fender guitars, so they double or triple the price, i wish mkore people used st150's
Thats funny when you say "not performance".... You can ask any audiophile or Pro Dj and they will tell you technics are NUMBER ONE.... ile give you FACTS to back that up... The WOW and FLUTTER on Technics turntables are second to none!!! (if you dont know what that is then you shouldnt be responding to this). Yes this table has tons of torque however too much torque is annoying when your are cutting up flares and double clicks, nobody uses reverse... only techno djs use 50+ pitch...
ayo knyfestryke81 a better torque does Not Make you a better dj, a better crossfader/innofader does not make your cuts better, If stanton tts are tech-killers, how come 80% of the turntablist spin on techs?

as long as you use a spherical stylus on the Str8's the record wear should be minimal at worst

I think the thing that makes it feel like a toy is the overuse of soft touch plastic. I would prefer it if it were all metal. Plastic just isn't very durable. I appreciate that Technics and super OEM decks are all metal up top.
This thing has a steel plate top and heavy rubber base. No plastic. The last thing this table feels like is a toy. It's 43 pounds...
