This is my very late Stanton ST-150 Vinyl Turntable unboxing and Review video. This is basically one of the best turntables on the market and there's lots of reasons why. Also check out the full written review in the DJbooth.net blog site at the top link. Be sure to check back for daily DJ and Production equipment updates and follow me on twitter!
My Str8s are 18 months old now, and they still work like new. They have never left the house, and they are always covered with coffin top when not in use.
Care for your stuff, and it will care for you. ;)
All products have lemons, but overall I could not be happier. These decks were an excellent purchase.
+pingamalinga i have had my str8-150's since 2006 :) still like new, you got a lot of life left in them yet :) god choice
@kevin, I'm aware you can buy covers, but I just said mine are in a coffin.
It's so beautiful that I have tears in my eyes, especially when you pressed "Start"-that thing spins so smoothly!
I feel the same, mate!! And I just bought a used one, it's on shipping rn. Can't waitttt!!
Glad to see you're still spinning vinyl! Nothing beats the sound of vinyl. I still get goose bumps when I hear the dust crackles when spinning a brand new vinyl :) I'm still rocking my 15 year old Technics 1210's....professional top end turntables are built to last forever! So glad to see you review an analogue direct drive top end turntable. PLEASE PEOPLE KEEP VINYL ALIVE :) Great review dude!
P.S Your review on the Denon DN-MC 6000 made me go out and buy one :) And I love djbooth.net website
hey Kareem. great review as usual. i'm torn between the st150 and the Technics MKII. there are some clear advantages with the st150 (internal grounding, detachable RCA cables), cheaper now that the MKIIs are discontinued. what are your thoughts (assuming you have used both). thanks again
What's interesting is that you had the turntable with the headshell and cartrige in the box. In the other two unboxing videos I saw they were not included...
It came with the cartridges for a limited time but it will say it on the box if they are included... They even came with trackmaster V3 at one point if I am not mistaken...
@@RealDJblaze Oh, okay. Thanks
love this review... thanks!!..
any idea on the quality of the internal pre amp... do you think its good enough for sampling or would u recommend buying a separate phono pre....
Hey DJbooth ,great video! Not a DJ but I just bought this turntable for a few good reasons ,however having trouble aligning the cartridge/stylus ,it's distorting and was wondering if yourself or anyone else might tell me the approximate right settings for the tone arm Height/weight and anti-skate. I did manage to ruduce some distortion. Needle is Groovemaster V3! Any help would be grateful ,Thank You! Cheers!
hey kareem...I had this deck since it first came out around 2003 with the Old logo. Its still solid & works like new. But what is recommended to clean the rubberized coating? it gets grimy & sticky after a long while.
I used Adhesive remover citrus and he said remove it carefully
great vid are they heavy?
Hey Blaze, I'm a bboy with a lot of interest in Djing.. I have done a lot of research and starting to understand more and more and still saving up for equipment.. But I'm still confused about some things.. Does it matter what kind of mixer you use with any turntable?? Like this deck, what kind of mixer would you recommend for a deck of this caliber??
Audio Technica 1240 or Stanton ST150? I'm torn. Both are Super OEM. Which one would you trust for longevity? Will be stationary just for skratching.
Howmuch is the STANTON, and does it come with a needle ?
They used to come with a needle and cartridge, but they don't really sell them any longer...
Would you say that the cartridges that come with this turntable are good to start off with? Using a rane 57 mixer along with 2 of these on order. Just curious if these turntable are legit for live gigging right away or to wait for the M44-7
Could you post a link to the page where you ordered your Str8150/st150s from. I can't find it on their site? thanks!
Hola,
Thank you for the quick reply back...!!! I'll be using my M44-7 needles from my old Technics, As far as tightened up the screws that hold the arm in place...? That i'm not sure where that is on the unit.. I've seen some videos on youtube of people messing with a screw on the arm... What's the chances of ya making a quick video on the setting in which you have it set to for scratching...? As all your video our on the point and very detailed..."thumbs up"
Thanks
with regards to the tone arm, how big of a deal is the straight tone arm in terms of vinyl damage? From what I understand, straight tonearms tend to wear out vinyl a bit more than S shaped. For use with SSL, do you recommend the St 150 or STR8 150 for someone who isn't a turntablist but plays hip hop and likes to definitely do a bit of scratching
Do you still recommend the mk2 st150’s? I saw in your top 5 vid that you said you liked the mk1 ‘s because they isolate better but I’m not able to find any of the mk1 for sale. You think the mk2’s would still be good?
They are good, but I just like the original units a bit better.
Hey Kareem which would you recommend the str8 150s, relax 7000, or the pioneer plc 1000. i love scratching and I'm looking for durability. Thank you your videos are great.
I still like the Stanton ST-150's the best because they have that rubber bottom coating and they feel the most sturdy and durable. All the others have all plastic build on the bottom halves. They are also the heaviest out of all the Super OEM turntables.
***** I have the t.92. What do you think of that one?
blake kersey T.92 are a good beginner turntable but not as good or strong as one of these or any other superoem turntable...
Question I'm looking at the rp 7000 and the str8 150 straight tone arm. My question is for scratching which is the better option or they pretty much identical just different name brand. I've been djing for years at parties and at the club. But I been dealing with pioneer controllers. I want something different. Thanks for the feed back thanks for the video on this.
Hey julien i have a question im thinking to get a pair of these turntables...i just want to know if the work perfect, same or better than the technics or should i go for technics 1200 ?
Just picked up a Stranton STR8-100 for $150 fully serviced here in Los Angeles today. I'm really liking this turntable it's built solid and has lots of features for playing with the pitch. I would like to upgrade the stylus/needle what would be a quality brand for this turntable. I heard I can pick something up at Guitar Center. I have a Shure on my vintage Philips 212 sounds nice.
Yes, go for shure M44-7 and you will like the sound very much...
Thank You

hey blaze, wana ask something. Would u know the voltage of the Stanton ST-150/STR8-150. Is it 110-240v or it changes according to the seller of the country? is the voltage stated anywhere on the stanton 150 that ur using? Planing to buy one on ebay, but where i live, we use 230-240v.
Tried finding more info on the net, but no help =(
Is this a good turntable for home listening? I know it would be best to replace the cartridge with one that has a lighter tracking force, but is everything else about it good if you just want to use it to listen to albums?
Hola,
What the setting that you have set for scratching on these turntables...? And i hear allot about them skipping if ya don't do the paper trick....? Any advise would be very helpful on getting them setup...
Thanks
Hey.. Im new to turntables and I wanted to ask.. got a Stanton 150 (680Hp) can you use any cartridge with a turntable or does it just depend on the USE (DJ/Recording/Scratching?)
Thank you.... I found the screws again thank you for all the info you've helped me with.. keep up the good work and keep those product review video coming..."thumbs Up'
Ive got a set of these, had since 2005, they are like tanks, they will last forever
Nice! I am still rocking mine too. I just added some magnetic skins from 12inchskinz.com to keep them fresh.
can you do a review or this now after having it for a while, show it in use, tell what needles you use, etc... give us an idea if it's a long term investment as good as a 1200 or 1210..... please do a follow up and show yourself using the Stantons...
does the stanton STR8-150 have highest torque or does all the Super OEM turntables have the same amount of torque?
are the MK1's still worth getting now? ive got a good deal on these
Yes, for sure! These are my favorite turntables and I like them even better than the new versions that have different construction.
Hey Kareem. I just got a STR8 150 and I'm having difficulty setting it up for scratching, I've set the height to 3.5, weight 3.5 (plus weight on headshell). Apparently these models don't have anti skipping, the control for this is blank also. Do you have any advice? Everytime I scratch or backspin the needle skips!
***** Thanks Kareem! I will try them out with different settings and see what works best. My control vinyl is also very slightly warped so that could be part of the issue.
***** Ok thanks. I saw a video on here showing how to reshape warped records. Do you know any good methods? It's a Serato control vinyl, brand new as well, could have warped in storage.
***** Ok thanks man! Keep up the great videos!
Few years late but does this turntable need a preamp to sample records?
Nope, this has a pre amp built in... Just need to plug it into some speakers or any mixing board...
@@RealDJblaze Thanks man!
hey how do you get your digital music onto your turntables because i currently have 2 of them and i cannot figure out how to get the digital music onto them.
cool thanks
is there something i can buy thats relatively cheap to get my music onto my turntables so I'm not spending another 800$ XD
Thank u so much. and i have a pioneer Djm 350 mixer and 2 speakers would that Traktor Audio 6 work with both of those.
Thank you, I bought the ST-150 because the look, I love the plastic dust cover on the AT-LP1240 tho... something nice that the Stanton should include in their TT I guess...
Hi!
I need your help guys!
I currently own a Stanton ST 150 and want to exchange it with another platter, at least as good, but closer to the feeling of Technics. The Stanton has a much stronger torque than the Technics. I usually play on Technics at clubs and the first few minutes are strange because i must to get used to the sensitivity of the Technics.
So, the reloop rp 7000 will fit to my needs ? Thanks in advanced!
Any opinion is welcome :).
Yes, The RP-7000 MK2's torque is adjustable so you can dial in its response to your preference. You can get it to act like a 1200 in terms of torque...
I know it's personal preference but between the stanton str8.150 or tech 1200m2k which would you recommend?
i prefer both...
DJbooth DJ's I'm new to turntables. I've went from the Numark ns7 to the ns7ii. but now I want to be able to add turntables to my list. I'm leaning towards the str8s. what are your thoughts?
These are the best turntables you can buy in my opinion. Go for it.
DJbooth DJ's thanks and keep up the great reviews. it was your review that help we decide on buying the Mixars Duo.
man i love this turntable im planing on buying a pair
That's probably the BEST turntable EVER created...
It is, 10 years later and still flawless...
Do you think the mk2 are worth buying?
Not really... I'd personally go with the RP-7000mk2 at this point... Maybe even the Mixars LTA.
@@RealDJblaze thanks for reaching out to me. How about the t.92?
Which turntable would u recommend to buy for a first timer to this, mainly just for listening to records at home?
*****
Why not get this same turntable for just spinning records and the occasional scratching and call it a day? That's my plan. I really like what I see in the Stanton ST150. Also, is it best to keep the stock needle or upgrade to an Ortofon or something else for basic listening? What would you recommend for a good mixer as well?
Awesome. Thanks for the quick reply.
lobecosc same thing I did. I got the t92 from guitar Center but didn't even know it was mainly a dj table. It does great and I'm not a dj at all.
blake kersey
That's good to know.
In comparison to technics, which do you preffer?
which turntable is better Audiotechnica
Lp 1240 or These in performance
+Khalid Favors They are the same in performance...
Oh ok cause i just dont get why stanton cost$$$$$ more than the ATs
I figured since you must listen to many turntables and must listen to record often. Would these be considered a great record player
+LetsGo Son Yes, I would consider this a GREAT record player
What would you want to upgrade? This thing is a beast...
kareem, which turntable is best, audiotechnica, or stanton?
I have 2 Stanton turntables and the mixer but dont know how to hook it up to a computer or what program I need can you help me outtttt
Stanton ST-150 or Audio-Technica AT-LP1240? Thanks!
Would you need a phono preamp to record into a computer.
Can you do an unboxing on the Numark Ns7fx
can you play music on this from a lap top or pc?
Which turntable is better numark ttx usb or st150/str150 hmu
switch the output to line on the turntable and you'll be able to connect into a receiver's line input.
are numark ttx's better or these?
In americanmusical d o t com they have some nice Polycarbonate dust covers for the 1200's but they are designed for the 1200's IDK the dimensions of the 1200, but if the ST150 has the same dimensions the dust cover will fit just right, will be awesome!
Oh yeah how much do they cost$ i wanna pair
Stanton ST-150/STR8-150 Professional Vinyl DJ Turntable Unboxing & Review Video
technics 1200 or stanton str8 150 ?
***** if u had to choose bro ?
Anyone else searched for " Stanton ST.150 review " and saw the thumbnail and thought "Oh, a black guy! He must know his shit, let's watch That review!" ?
Thanks! You save me from buying a preamp.
They are the same... Pick the one the looks you like best.
How in the world do get all this stuff? Lol
1200's ON STEROIDS! ! ! i GOTTA cop these time to pack up the m3d's & unpack the STR8's,, out w/ the old in w/ the new! ! !
I can't believe on the 150 m2 that they took away all the features. reason why I bought a str8 150(old model)
Yeah, and they made them like 10lbs lighter each! I don't like that part much... I do like the new brushed aluminum all-black color... but You can always skin the old ones like I did...
DJbooth DJ's I'm upgrading from t.92s. I can't wait to feel the difference in the 150s to the 92s
DJbooth DJ's the str8 is a beast. only problem I have is aligning a m44-7 on a straight tone arm. how did you align yours?
I just put it on straight and even just as if it were S-tonearm setup. It works well.
DJbooth DJ's dope! thank you. I have s arm t.92 to i don't even have to mess with it
same thing but new its had to find technics now for a good price because they died in like the 90's
It's built like a tank!
Mine are still 100% functional and perfect to this day! That's 8 years in with zero issues...
@@RealDJblaze I am a metalhead with tons of metal and rock LPs I collected when I was a teenager in 80s. I spent weeks and weeks to look for a new turntable and came across your video here in youtube. I found your video as very informative with great amount detail and decided to get the same model, Stanton ST-150. At last, I found one from eBay and got it last month. I really enjoy every moment when I listen to music with this monster or Technics 1200 killer a.k.a Stanton St-150. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and reviewing this great product.
Can way to buy me a pair of those staton 150 str8 turntable I want to buy them cus they remind me of the vestax pdx 2000 but vestax those are made of plastic the pdx 2000 n the pdx a2s vestax 90s style witch I still got them but the a2s is made out of wood but the bottom still working like a champ out of the vestax pdx 2000 I don't like the power button n they are very fragile both turntable but i still like them cus the motor is strong from the pdx 2000 the a2s vestax the motor is different but is good for scratching mix turntablist that straight arm I like from the staton n is made out of metal that DJ Q bert's been using lately I still got my technics 6 pair n my vestax they still working all this years I got them but is made out of plastic cheap just the arm n motor is good anyway I would like to buy a pair of this stanton I never use it I don't mind buy a pair 😁😂😆😆
I love all the Vestax and Technics 1200 decks as well. The STR8-150 and regular 150 are my favorite turntables of all time. Mine are still strong and almost brand new after all these years. No issues at all... Keep checking ebay as you'll probably find a set for a good price. You may have to buy them one at a time. Good luck!
No dust cover? Too bad.
Technics own .
Can´t really see if they have that fu... up blue or if they are all black wich I hope
thanks
So bad... I was ready to place my order in case they fit... Thanks anyways!
no no no not 40 pounds only 20 pounds
These are definitely more than 20 pounds...
@@RealDJblaze no just around 20 pounds or 10.5kg www.stantondj.com/stanton-turntables/st150.html
Do you have to use a preamp on the stanton st150? Thanks for your reply I wasn't clear in the first post.
I have a quick ? st 150s or str8 150s or are both just as good?
They both are the same only difference I believe is the tone arm the ST150 comes with the "S" shaped tone arm just like the one in this video and the STR8-150 has the Straight tone arm. If you like to have options with tone arms I would go with the Numark TTXusb turntables since u can switch between the 2 plus the torque is insane. I just purchased a pair and did not regret my choice I hope this helped. Dj Johnny Knox 13yrs on the 1's and 2's.
