Just started a few days ago after not playing since launch, don't understand adaptive gear so thanks this helped but I plan to not even use Adaptive Gear after learning what it does and useless at end game anyway. The game is super easy while leveling and im leveling too fast for content anyway. Also I like seeing my character's gear change as I level through quest rewards/flashpoints etc as I go from planet to planet like it's progressing instead of just the same outfit. So yeah I just ignore outfits/adaptive gear exists and just play the game. Not had any issues soloing group content either. Might look into it again later especially cosmetics.
Oh thanks for this video, I'm new to this game an I've purchased an outfit and was surprised how low the rating was. Had no idea about this character sheet
Just learned that if you pull mods out of gear you have to put it in the same gear..pull mods from chest piece you have to put it in chest piece (this could be just vendor gear i've bought but I think its all gear with mods). Also using the outfit to change the look verse pulling mods out will save you over 5k credit for each mod.
For almost my entire playthrough of SWTOR I never used the cosmetic slot and manually updated my modifiable armour as I went. Eventually a change came to the way that outfit buffs worked. Originally I could take the armour mod off an outfit and mod it to something else, as the outfit buff came with the armour mod. Now it's on the clothes themselves so I can't do that any more, meaning that if I want a buff from an outfit I actually have to wear the outfit in my equipment slots and put how I want to look in the cosmetics slots. I was gutted when that change came. I did my playthrough as a series and I only made the armour changes at the 233rd video out of (at the time of writing) 240 (don't trust the episode numbers. I used greek letters for some of them). Hopefully the new folks will do it the way Swtorista describes from the start of the game. It'll save them some headaches in the long run.
I think the idea was to make it easier for new players - tracking your mods and continuously upgrading them is way harder than just equipping what you pick up.
Hello I recently got back into SWTOR and have been interested in doing all of the content it has to offer including operations but I have been hesitant to do so without a guild what is the best way for me to find a good reliable guild
one way to find a good guild is to go to your conquest tab, and see which guilds are leading the lists. These will be the most active guilds, and have the highest skilled players, and are playing the highest content a lot. Once you have found a guild you think is top end, then do a /who and see if any members are online, and ask them if they would be interested in you joining their guild. Most guilds are always recruiting, pretty good chance you will get in.
Been watching a lot of your videos, since I have returned to the game after a 4 year break. I had a question revolving around the current character I am trying to finish my class story with. I am currently running a Jedi Sage who has Synthweaving. That skill gives me access to augments. I was curious if you had a video explaining how those work, or if those are even viable in the current era of game play. Should I even be bothering with augmenting armor or weapons while leveling? Thanks for your time, and I look forward to seeing your next video.
Hey welcome after such a long break! So as you level, it is not worth it to augment, though they are technically available. At endgame, augments can give you up to a whole piece of gear's worth of extra stats. So they are very worth it if you are tying to get the strongest gear in the game. I don't have a video but here is some more info I wrote swtorista.com/articles/how-to-gear-up-at-level-75/#Augments
dont know if you'll see this comment so long after you posted the video, but, im new to the game, only 4 days in as a bounty hunter and im wondering how to get that jetpack thing u have in the end of the video. thx! love your videos. cheers
aaaaaaand now I hate myself. 🥲 I’ve been grinding nearly this whole month, finished story and am about halfway through SoR, and I learn this now. 🙏 Grateful tho, I can kick ass in my good armour while still looking ✨fabulous✨!
My only question is: I have noticed that unmodifiable gear for leveling seems to be stronger (i.e. better stats) than modifiable gear with the best mods available. Am I the only one who noticed that?
No that is true. I have recently modified a tactical set and turns out it is worse than the top tier armor i got from ops statwise. It is honestly such a shame and a bit ridiculous
Yep! You may find static gear that's better. Which sucks for your weapon because you may need to choose between a modifiable weapon you like and a static one with higher stats...
i returned to swtor after a 4 year break, i totaly forgot how to get my stats right wit hthose mods, gets one shotted on a level 70 mob while im level 70.. .greeat
I KNOW this video is 2 years old but you can now change the look of your lightsaber by adding it to the new outfitter tab and paying a small cost for it using in game currency, based on your level,as you can for any armour piece
Why does every armor piece i see is “requires adaptive armor.” Does that mean? Because I want to buy this armor but it doesn’t have the stats and it said requires adaptive armor.
I just bought the infamous mercenary armour. I want to upgrade it since it’s only at level 8. But I don’t know what do to. I’m new to the game and have no idea how to get the things that she is using at 2:30 . At first I figured that I could use my old armor and take pieces from that and put those in to the new armor but that doesn’t seem to work. Please help me
I know this late but you can upgrade from the vendors in republic fleet or the empire fleet in the supplies area they show different lvl’s for each vendors hope this helps
what happens if you dont wanna use the outfit designer anymore and just wanna display what on your currently equiped character without dealing with the outfit tabs n stuff?
Im embarrassed to say I still dont understand. I could augment from day 1 but still cant see how to use mods and enhancements. When I right click on gear it goes onto my character, and if I right click on that it goes into my inventory. That Field Modification screen doesn't open up for me.
What I do not understand is how the green arrows work. My first thought was that a green arrow on gear in my inventory meant it was an upgrade, so I should always equip it. Then I ran into the armor with the green arrow having a lower item level and worse stats than the one without an arrow. The one without an arrow raised my item score and many stats a good amount higher than equipping the ones with the green arrow in my inventory. I am very confused how to decide what an upgrade is as a new low-level player. If anyone sees this and can help I would be thankful!

Seriously, why aren't weapons an option in the outfit designer yet??
Apparently it's a technical limitation
I'd not be surprised if, code-wise, they were a different sub-class of the "Wearable" subclass of the "Item" class or something like that.
If they have to make new armor with and without hoods...it's a definite coding issue.
