Small note : Matpat's significant daily intake probably constitutes him less receptive to the effects of caffeine (like any drug stops working after a while so addicts up their dosage for the same effects).
Y'know, MatPats response, or lack thereof to this experiment is probably because his body has built a rather high tolerance for caffeine because of how much he's had over the years.
Just a note on the experiment design. It's best whenever possible for the study to be at least blind if not double blind. For example, for the lotions and soaps, put a portion of them in those generic travel bottles. Some participants are given the caffeinated product, while others are given a placebo regular soap/lotion. That way, the placebo effect can be accounted for. Otherwise, for something as vague as "feeling more energized", it's likely that the placebo effect could have an effect.

Coming from a person who not only quit drinking caffeine but also quit smoking nicotine and drinking alcohol within three months of each other and staying quit on the second two. On the other side : capsaicin Capsaicin is a vanilloid, and as a vanilloid it activates the TRPV1 (transient receptor for potential vanilloid 1) (and for clarification a vanilloid just means it has a specific makeup in its atomic build.) And these TRPV1 sensors are all along your digestion track, close to your central nervous system, since capsaicin is an oil that means it doesn't mix with water without an emulsifier, so drinking water only spreads the capsaicin around What happens is when the capsaicin touches the TRPV1 sensors it polarized them, it triggers them and that tells the body "hey, your on fire" and triggers the uncomfortable feeling.
In college, I lived off of what i called 'caffeine naps'. Down a double shot of espresso, immediately take a 30 minute nap, get up with tons of energy. When the crash happened, I'd just do it again. Very unhealthy. But very productive!
A couple years ago when I was 15 I used to drink a 4 pack of energy drinks in one sitting. And each can has 160mg of caffeine so in total I was consuming like 620mg of caffeine in one sitting plus coke mtn dew and other foods and drinks with caffeine in them.
"Amy the coffee gremlin" love this hahaha. Anyway, something else I want to comment on in general is that, I know a LOT of millennials like me who went their whole lives with undiagnosed ADHD, and, coincidentally, we were all massive caffeine addicts (my SO drank way more than 4 cups of coffee per day before getting diagnosed). Just some unrelated, additional food for thought :)
I used to drink a 2 Liter of Mountain Dew per week in high school! And I was an anb sugar fiend before then! Absolutely wrecked my caffeine tolerance as an “adult” and I don’t drink any caffeine or as much sugar.
Being caffeine intolerant, this would be a nightmare! I used a caffeinated soap ONCE, and my nervous system was NOT HAPPY for the following 2 days! I am actually gradually loosing products to the caffeination gig. All yall who benefit from caffeine, enjoy the benefits but be safe!
I'm not gonna lie, as somebody who literally grew up watching you (I'm 23 now but have been watching since I was about 12-13), I'm both really proud of you for tackling your diet coke consumption. But also, this made me feel more confident and willing to tackle my own caffeine issue since it's lead to an escalation in issues from my sensory processing disorder, and anxiety disorder, so thank you for being as genuine of a person as you are. It’s been a while, but I just realized that MatPat’s been using the BFDI mouth for a while, but never really gone theorizing about anything Object show-related. Maybe that could be another final theory?
This is why I avoid foods and drinks with large quantities of caffeine. Caffeinated soda? No thank you. Coffee or Tea? Heck no. Energy drinks? Absolutely not. Sugar is addictive enough _without_ the actual drug thank you very much.
~4:15 And here's me feeling guilty about drinking soda like 2-5 times a month! XD Admittedly, I've always been more concerned about what the sugar does to my teeth and stomach lining than anything to do with caffeine, but still!
I love hearing you all freak out over what's a normal night of sleep for me. 11 hours is very normal for me. I function well with 7, but those extra 4 hours are a nice bonus when I'm on break.

24:09 I really hope everyone knew EXACTLY where this image of Mat is from😂
Where? Im kinda dumb lol
@@Lil..with..hearts it’s ok lol, it’s from “FNAF: The Musical” where he plays the murderer and busts in with a chainsaw flamethrower(the absurdity is hilarious) and he has this crazed look in his face
Never thought caffeine would lead to this. Love you to death matpat, I’m so sad you’re leaving. I have so much nostalgia and I will miss you.😢
EVERYONE CARES MATPAT'S CONTENT IS BETTER THAN MINE I WISH HE WASNT LEAVING!

Matpat you will be missed. These style theory videos are a work of art
Yeah, I cried when I saw that “ goodbye Internet”
Title
I think a theory on the best things and healthiest ways to increase dopamine, especially for us ADHD and Autism bugs, would be excellent
YES! I would love this theory! Fellow Autism Spectrum person! And probably ADHD cuz my attention span is always “squirrel!”
15:58 i dont know either but that game x theory poster behind you is absolutely genius
21:46 - "Eye mist."
I feel like if diet coke made a makeup product matpat would eat it just to see if it tasted the same
With the years, we saw Matpat grew, he saw us grew up, we saw his mental health deteriorating (Rip Olie’s childhood) but most of all, we saw his addiction get stronger and stronger
we getting out of the caffine addiction with this one.
@CowDude2YFGAget purged
Not the way their withdrawal symptoms just sound like my everyday adhd except for the headaches and slapping early
Will matpat ever do a style theory on fursuits?
and pls matpat see this
I’m going to miss these videos with matpat 😭
@Reineedd Shut up dog water
On the other side : capsaicin
Capsaicin is a vanilloid, and as a vanilloid it activates the TRPV1 (transient receptor for potential vanilloid 1) (and for clarification a vanilloid just means it has a specific makeup in its atomic build.)
And these TRPV1 sensors are all along your digestion track, close to your central nervous system, since capsaicin is an oil that means it doesn't mix with water without an emulsifier, so drinking water only spreads the capsaicin around
What happens is when the capsaicin touches the TRPV1 sensors it polarized them, it triggers them and that tells the body "hey, your on fire" and triggers the uncomfortable feeling.
Isn't capsaicin in peppers? (also sorry about the bots, I'm currently purging them)
that report button seems very enticing right now
20:25 Matpat waterboarding himself made my day
MATPAT!! DO NOT LITTER! YOU THREW THAT DIET COKE IN THE OCEAN!
Not me drinking coffee while watching this 💀
I will miss MatPat very much, but Amy is going to be an amazing host for this channel
I love you matpat!! Thank you for everything! You saved my life your videos gave me something to look forward too when I was at my lowest. Thank you.
@ReineeddThat report button is looking real fine right now.
@@GreatValueMapleSyrup i know right? looks really clickable
Matpat build a mentality effect after drinking too much caffeine and putting it “on” and “in” Matpat’s body. He is somewhat becoming too used to it.
“Tea (Guess who drinks this)” this is peak comedy
I didnt know matpat was downing sodas like hes playing sludge life XD
Ever heard of a control? If you had put on both at different times without knowing which one was caffeinated, it would reduce placebo effect
In college, I lived off of what i called 'caffeine naps'. Down a double shot of espresso, immediately take a 30 minute nap, get up with tons of energy. When the crash happened, I'd just do it again. Very unhealthy. But very productive!
too risky for me, if I'm unable to sleep before the caffeine hits, I'll just have to stay up with a creaking body that runs on hope and caffeine.
A couple years ago when I was 15 I used to drink a 4 pack of energy drinks in one sitting. And each can has 160mg of caffeine so in total I was consuming like 620mg of caffeine in one sitting plus coke mtn dew and other foods and drinks with caffeine in them.
Tom is becoming the Joker
1:34 that’s amazing.
Considering Mythbusters did a theory on you being able to consume alcohol through your skin, this seems possible.
I'm lucky caffeine doesn't have an effect on me, I get through the day with my own energy. Also I love Amy's "rare and aggressive" shirt
I’ve made a slideshow with my friends where you can post whatever you want. However, I posted a memorial slide for MatPat retiring. We’ll miss you. 😢✊
I know that this is not food theory, but you NEED to do a video about the 5 second rule, I mean it’s crazy that you have not done it yet
I love the editors' work on Tom's application of the showerrub and lotion ❤

I'm not gonna lie, as somebody who literally grew up watching you (I'm 23 now but have been watching since I was about 12-13), I'm both really proud of you for tackling your diet coke consumption. But also, this made me feel more confident and willing to tackle my own caffeine issue since it's lead to an escalation in issues from my sensory processing disorder, and anxiety disorder, so thank you for being as genuine of a person as you are. Your presence will be missed but appreciated, you're practically the Bill Nye meets Mr Rogers of TH-cam
they talked so much about caffeine that i forgot for a moment that this was style theory
27:26 Ok completely random but I love the Spy x Family inspired picture Game x Theory ❤😂
It’s been a while, but I just realized that MatPat’s been using the BFDI mouth for a while, but never really gone theorizing about anything Object show-related. Maybe that could be another final theory?
27:39 u could always get version of tea and coke without caffeine ;) I hope those exist in USA too..
what is coke without caffeine called
@@kyokazutococa- wait what are we talking about again?
@@Lil..with..hearts are you sure that's what MM was talking about 😳
This is why I avoid foods and drinks with large quantities of caffeine. Caffeinated soda? No thank you. Coffee or Tea? Heck no. Energy drinks? Absolutely not. Sugar is addictive enough _without_ the actual drug thank you very much.

~4:15 And here's me feeling guilty about drinking soda like 2-5 times a month! XD
Admittedly, I've always been more concerned about what the sugar does to my teeth and stomach lining than anything to do with caffeine, but still!
5:50 HES KENOUGH

I love hearing you all freak out over what's a normal night of sleep for me. 11 hours is very normal for me. I function well with 7, but those extra 4 hours are a nice bonus when I'm on break.
I never buy into the products being physically energizing but I love the effect it has on my skin especially the undereyes. You can get it rather cheap too, the inkey list caffeine eye cream is amazing!
