  • Today's project on the wood lathe is another project in the woodturning that sells series. As craft fair season is upon us many may be looking for a quick easy project that is a great impulse buy and stock item. This is also a great beginner woodturning project to practice tool control, shaping, and turning large flat areas. This project that sells starts with a 2.75-inch square by 20-inch-long piece of walnut or any wood of your choosing and finishes as a beautiful and fully functional 18-inch rolling pin. The rolling pin was sanded to 240 grit, burnished with 0000 steel wool and finished with a food safe finish that can be found at the link below in the description. It’s mesmerizing watching the wood fly and the shapes being created and trying to guess what it is! I like the colour of that wood too.

    Thanks for helping a begginner like myself seeing that this can be done. Though I admit going to practice on a few cheap pieces of wood first, I would hate to ruin the good stuff. BTW, nice display at the end.

    Beautiful. I love how you use all the different tools to get to the final product. Is your template available?

    • @WegeWoodWorks
      @WegeWoodWorks  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! I do not have an available template but the rolling area of the pin is 13 inches and the pin itself is 18 inches overall length. Handles are each 2.5inches

    Does anyone know what rpm he was using for this?

    • @WegeWoodWorks
      @WegeWoodWorks  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If I recall correctly I was somewhere in the range of 2250-2350. Other than turning down the nubs on the ends of handles and then I'm usually much slower in the 1000-1200rpm range
