Easy Wood Turning Lathe Projects

- The amount of turning kits out there can be daunting, and so many require special hardware or bits to use. The kits I like to turn use threaded inserts to mount hardware to a handle, or have a tang that can just be epoxied into the handle you turn. There are TONS of kits available in this fashion and they’re a great way to make some really fun and useful projects on the lathe while you build up your tool collection and skills.

I'm pretty sure you're not even talking about woodworking anymore 😂😂😂
That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Lol
@@YouCanMakeThisToo 😂
Penetrating epoxy. Making wood harder than Chinese algebra since 1998😳
🤣🤣🤣
Gold!
the amount of sexual innuendos in this
Yeah, I got a little carried away writing the script for this one.
?@@YouCanMakeThisToo b.
@@YouCanMakeThisToo When you say writing the script.... was that just drinking 3 pints of stella before doing the voice over ?
Mike Fitch yeah too many snowflakes
scott petrie snowflakes? It’s just weird...
Beautiful handles, but perhaps a bit too much butt stuff in this video 🤣🤣
I’ll take that perhaps under advisement 😁
That was close with the suggestive slip-up. Glad you caught that.
Me too, almost slid into something dangerous there.
It really got in there deep
Me: that’s what she said
Lmao
😁🤣
Great work but I had a hard time hearing your video over my wife's eyes rolling from all the double entendres. 😂
Yeah... they were a bit excessive this time. Turning just really lends itself to it.
“While you watch me play with my wood” 😬😬🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤷🏻♂️
Too late to avoid a dirty thing (5:29)...one occurred at 3:23 when you said 'while you watch me play with my wood...' and the handle was a sex toy shape...lol. Maybe poetry isn't your forte if you want to avoid dirty mind things.
You just make too many sexual innuendoes for me. I get it, it’s funny when you know someone and you’re both joking. I’m just tryin to learn to use a lathe. Once or twice would be funny but you just kept going with it.
Ima keep looking for someone to learn from ✌🏽
mate why so many useless sexual "jokes" the video was alright but cut that stuff
It was uncharacteristic for my channel. Thanks for all the feedback, I won't be repeating it.
Relax, he made a funny little video. It wasn't offensive or tasteless, just some plain chuckle inducing humour. Get off the guys back.
When i heard the first thing that sounded a bit sexual I thought "ha, a sex joke"
But when I heard the 70th one I realised this is obviously a TH-cam channel I can get behind
Wait. Did you just..? I think you did.
@@YouCanMakeThisToo I think i did
The wood working is nice, but all them low-key sexual jokes are priceless, I love it!
Glad you enjoyed it
I was like “thats what she said” on the whole video 😂
Haha yeah..
Valuable commentary
I thought same thing bro!😂🤣 that’s what she said!😜 but very interesting and informative for the rookie! I just retired and ready to jump in! “ All the way as deep in there as I can stick it! 😂😜
Lmfao.. amazing!
Nice work on all the tools, but these little “kit” packages from Rockler for a simple garden spade are pretty darn expensive. I see that Rockler provided them to you for free - nice. Personally, It’s much more economical to pick up things at Dollar Store or Harbor Freight and dismantle & then add a nice wooden handle. Harbor Freight currently has their 4-n-1 Screwdriver combo for “Free” with any other purchase.
Good tip! I should’ve mentioned that. I will say you get the moneys worth on the Rockler kits. It’s not grocery store utensil aisle quality that’s just marked up. They’re solid stainless, hefty, and very well made.
YouCanMakeThisToo - I agree, but $20.00 for a simple garden trowel kit is just too much. And $50.00 for the set of three isn’t any deal.
If you can afford to by a lathe, then it should be inexpensive, if you are interested in another habby, to build a forge
With a forge you can easily make these very study tools for a fraction of the price
Really even the cheapest gardening tools would be over prices even if they were good qaulity
The price you pay is purely for brand
Sexual conortations are slightly immature and spoil a great subject
Very fair view
Had to stop watching, too much innuendo, it’s gross
I do regret that about this video
Guys are so immature, can you just leave the weird comments out and talk about woodworking, Jesus!
I regret that about this video, I recently re-did in my regular style. This is an outlier for sure.
@@YouCanMakeThisTooI thought the delivery was great! Don’t change for keyboard Karen’s, mate😂
I don't, but this is definitely not my typical. Not my proudest work, but it pays so 🤷🏻♂🤣@@DD-jn1mp
I no nothing about wood turning, CLUELESS!But yesterday, I accidentally come across it on you tube. I was blown away with curiosity. Love this❤️👍🙏
Glad I could help!
Just bought a lathe today. Watched this video a few weeks ago and it sparked my interest. Already turned one worthwhile bowl and a few handle blanks. Incredibly fun.
Just started making 5x5 x 36 blocks with ash, cherry, maple, oak and poplar. Letting the glue set now. Going to make some colorful table legs
That’s awesome man! Have fun
Total Boat really needs to issue a 25% off coupon. We older craftsman need help from this terrible inflation.
Penetrating epoxy. Making wood harder than Chinese algebra since 2001
Legendary subliminal puns... LOL!!!
:D
Penetrating epoxy. Making wood harder than Chinese algebra since 2001
You're working wood. Explaining it is going to sound dirty no matter what you do. I appreciate the advice, at any rate.
Truth
1:57 ayooo
Where do you purchase these tools?
Check the description. Should be links.
Bro jokes in between tho 😂😂
Oh yeah
Just finished my smoke... thank you for the vid. Subscribed. 🙂
🤣🤣🤣
Needed to watch this twice, first watch was just laughing and keeping track of every pun and p*rn soundtrack. 2nd watch was paying attention to the cool wood turning
😅
I like the way you do your videos, but really didn't care for all the sexual innuendos. And for that reason I'm not going to subscribe. Maybe I'll stumble upon another one of your videos in the future and subscribe then. :-/
Thanks for the honesty. That was unusual for this particular video and I don’t see myself doing another that way. Thanks again for watching and the candid feedback, it’s very helpful
Concur. If I wanted that much, I'd watch family guy or something.
@@YouCanMakeThisToo I thought it was funny the the first couple of times, bit then it was just too much and it turned cringy. I've watched a few of your other videos and I'm going to go ahead and subscribe as this video doesn't seem to be your norm.
Thanks for giving me another chance, it isn't and won't become the norm.
Me: watching him play with his wood
Whatever floats your boat bud.
The Amount of innuendos made me check if I was still on youtube and hadn't ended up on Reddit
Fair question
I'm 13, and I don't really have the money to do any type of this stuff. Can you do some projects with just sandpaper, a saw, and some epoxy and pigment?
The amount of extra time it takes to do that doesn’t fit with how often I try to publish videos. But, I did a machine substitution series that shows how to use simple tools to do everything machines do. Watch that and whenever you see a machine, you’ll know how you could do it instead. I also did a 5 tool workshop video and explain how those tools can accomplish almost all tasks.
Listen to the audio without the video, u get a different idea😂😂
😬😬
Heya! Just saw this video. The content was great but the childish jokes didn’t make me want to subscribe. Reading the comments I saw a good deal of similar feedback and your replies suggesting this wasn’t and wouldn’t be your usual style. I’m going to subscribe and hope to pick up some tips and ideas from your videos moving forward. That tip about sanding along the grain between grits to smooth out scratches was a good one. Thanks for that! Cheers.
Thanks for taking the time to cruise the comments, and it’s true. This is an outlier. Also.. I actually gave away my lathe a year ago when I moved shops. But, I’ve got a new one coming next week! So you will be getting some more turning content soon
I hate to say it but by constantly mentioning that you don't want to make sexually suggestive comments you are doing just that. I'd say you have a problem.
I loved the video, but the way you sawed the wood in the beginning made me nervous a little. haeuheffa
Poor humor.... Once is bad enough.... To have a dozen or more just shows weakness.
I never said I was strong
Awesome video, and I could only imagine where your comments end up having a few beers!! 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Great Video, You sure know how to work your wood. 😉
Lots of experience
Great footage and nice techniques, but the incessant sexual innuendo is completely not needed and detracts from the great work you do.
Thanks. It’s an outlier video for sure. I have a new lathe coming and it’s on my list to re-do this video with different projects but in my typical style
Great demonstration and explanations. Very helpful. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Ok this is the first video I’ve seen on this channel, and I have to ask. I don’t just have a super dirty mind do I? This is intentional right?
It's both.. I made the mistake of having a bourbon while I wrote the voice over for this one, and the subject was just too ripe. It's a distinct outlier from my usual though so don't expect any others to be this forward (sorry or you're welcome, depending 🤷🏻♂️)
the innuendos are strong in this video. Great video brother.
Yeah.. I went a little over board
@@YouCanMakeThisToo it was way too funny though. Guess that is why your video's are for those over 13.
amazing video
Glad you think so!
Just getting into the woodworking game. Where can I find this lathe?
Craigslist or Facebook market place.. it's from the 50s.
My ideas will be simple. This is my first year and yet to turn anything but want a walnut bowl. I have high hopes but few tools ! Thanks !
Just give it your best and keep getting better, good luck!
Didn't learn much, but feel arroused for some reason.....
🤣🤣🤣
This is the best thing i have ever seen LOL! LOVE IT!!
Lol glad you enjoyed it
Would you mind if I used some of your footage for a video i'm making? Of course with credit!
Go for it
Where did you purchase your cutting tools?
....wow. At first, it was funny. After the 1000th time, it wasn't. Good projects though.
You’re in good company with that feeling, and I’ve taken note. Thanks for the honest feedback.
Omg the amount of puns in this video is amazing.
Haha thanks!
@@YouCanMakeThisToo anytime. Keep up the amazing videos. I watch them daily
Dirty bird.
Essayons.
I can make a video of me playing with my wood too 😉
There’s a platform for that 😁
Why not use catus stable juice
The polish technic while lathe is on is cool
Thanks man. It works well
You have been dropping sexual innuendos throughout this whole video. Woodworking is dirty but come on!! Lol
🤷♂️
I came for the lathe projects but I stayed for the inyouend-o
Haha thanks!
Interesting...I wonder, do the scotch pads actually _remove_ material?
Not really, mostly just burnishes.
Just a suggestion: More puns. Oh wait…. That’s impossible. 😂
Very cool video. Thanks!
New beginner. Watching all your videos and learning before starting. I have wood burls I want to make bowls. Ty for your videos of teaching
Thanks for watching!
I operate the tool in my hand with aplomb
I'm sure you do
What's with the cheezy sex references?
It's probably the least problematic thing you can expect from a mid 50's American man. Be thankful he's a wood turner (and quite a good one, in fairness) and not fortune 500 executive
What did you put on the block to make it stronger before you turned it?
Did you find out what is used? I also would like to know
I cume across your channel you have nice hard shaft work great job keep them coming
Haha thanks.
Informative and hilarious!
😊😊
Fnar Fnar 😉🏴🇬🇧
Can I ask how much is that lathe and its price?
I think I found it for $150
And, by the way, thank you for making mistakes, because I make a lot of mistakes! Amazing how many of my early bowls became funnels!!!!
Truth! Most of my lathe projects involved making quite a bit of "artisanal firewood" :D
that's what she said
👍🏼
Take a shot for every innuendo in this video
Don’t do this, most humans would die.
Very nice, great video!👍🏻
Thank you very much!
4:51 thats what she said
But like.. 20 more times.
"cuz right now they're a little too long... something i've never been told before"
Some truths are hard
@@YouCanMakeThisToo unlike certain types of wood
Aren't you suppose to roll up your sleeves first?
Yep
Turning wood is easier in the morning when its at maximum hardness.
🤣🤣🤣
Don't be silly....🙄😏🇬🇧
That belt sander is crazy man lol
It's so handy
No ferrules on the gardening tools? Aren't you worried about them splitting?
Nah, won’t be near enough force on them and they’re quite thick. If they do, I’ll just make new ones.
@@YouCanMakeThisToo That's good to know... Guess I've just broken too many trowels while metal detecting to trust bare wood when used for something with torque on the handle. Hope you had a Merry Christmas! =)
@@RealRuler2112 Oh yeah, if you're out metal detecting I definitely would have put a ferrule on it. These will be used by my mother-in-law in her very well worn garden and gardening pots. Very loose soil. Hope you had a great Christmas!
Woodworking humor for middle school boys.
Aptly describes
Very cool video caleb
Thanks!
Nice set of handles and tools to go with them handles great work
Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to try it myself.
