Another awesome video. Your advice is sound about only doing one learning thing at a time. I'm juggling a couple, including TCM and a cert (I chose Network +) with college. It's cool though, I'm a kid in a candy store with it all.
Well if you enjoy it then by all means :)
Hay bro I am a Nigerian too still don't know how and where to start.
I feel blessed watching this video. I'm from Nigeria, I developed an interest to pick-up Cyber security as a career BUT got frightened initially over the whole process. With your 3steps guide into this path, I'm optimistic I can do it. Thank you so very much
You can do it! God bless!
don't hack me brrro
Hey Victor how is it going? X
Nigerian prince 😭😂
Well done oo
Dedication, Discipline. Focus on one thing at a time
1. On line courses :
~ Udemy
~ Try Hack Me
~ TCM Security
2. Certifications :
✓ CompTIA Security+
✓ GCIH ( do ONLY if you're in a role that pays for it !!!! )
✓ Cisco CCNA
3 . Set up your Lab
• Kali Linux
😊
Question:
Should I focus on AWS cloud classes too besides what you have summarized? Thanks
You’re very well spoken and get your point across in a way I can understand. I really hope your channel blows up 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 get to the millions bro
I appreciate that!
Great video mate. Some good tips. I've used most different training providers over the years but I've actually not touched the TCM stuff outside of TH-cam, I'll need to give it a look. I'd be interested to see a tour of that sick setup behind you. Your production quality is super high!
Maybe I'll do a video of my setup, thank you! 🤔
TCM is great! Highly recommended!
Great video! Thank you for the insights. I am currently going the traditional way but the idea is to follow the route you have highlighted afterwards because CS is a vast area that one needs to keep reading up, practicing and learning. Thanks
Glad it was helpful! Keep it up!
Hi, grate thing you are dong with your video's, I have been speculating on starting cyber security but overload of information made me helpless on where to start from but with your videos I get to have a vision. Thank you and please keep pouring in your knowledge we need it.😊
Appreciate it and glad I can continue to help :)
Very well explained, appreciate you sharing the steps to setting up Kali Linux as well.👊🏾
Glad it was helpful!
Really Useful! Thanks a ton!
No problem!

My pleasure!
@@CyberTom please am literally trying to find a course to start my cybersecurity journey and I came across this great video, thanks for that.
Buh now am having difficulty choosing the right one on Udemy as there’re many of them. Could you please recommend the right ones for me 🙏 to avoid waste of time and money. I would appreciate if you can help . Thanks
I’m an absolute beginner with no cyber security experience at all
Thank you.
You're welcome!
As always, you provide a wealth of knowledge. I hope those interested in cybersecurity take your advice. Great content!!!!
Thank you so much glad I can help :)
Hey @CyberTom, what jobs do you recommand for entry level in cybersec? I heard SOC analyst is a good starting point. I got my comptianet+ and sec+, google cert and blue team lvl 1.
Been in IT for 5years. I don't want to work nights tho, what is your opinion? Thanks!
A security analyst or security specialist is a great place to start in my opinion!
GREAT VIDEO! New sub!
I figured UDEMY would be on the list. I took my CCNA from them as well. You gave me a great launching point!
THANK YOU!
Welcome aboard!
AWESOME VIDEO MAN
Thanks for the visit :)
Thanks for the inspiration I need to learn cyber security as a career job
You got it!
I love your videos bro I just started watching them as I'm interested in cyber security.
Sadly I have zero experience in the tech or IT industry. I'm 29 and I'd love to get into the cyber security world but I'm slightly pessimistic as i don't know anything about it. Would you say it's possible to land an entry level position within 2 years for me, given i seriously commit to it, i study hard and get some kind of qualifications? Thanks, keep up the good work
I would say yes if you spend those years getting an associates and an A+ cert!
I’m also in your shoe and am really interesting ready to commit into it as well
2 years? I've heard people getting bachelor's in less than a year and getting jobs
@@ambrlouise you have to be realistic mate. I don't really have any prior knowledge so I'm starting from scratch. I work full time . I just started studying the a+ books so I'll have a solid foundation but that's just the start
I'm in this state as a newbie. But, with the same intention to become a cyber security expert. I want to give it all it takes. Please, can we be friends and grow together? While we learn from well established experts like @CyberTom.
Thanks for the information. What would you recommend for someone who is basically brand new to coding in general before jumping in to cybersecurity?
I would say learn Linux and python!
Great video like always my question is that while doing a certification is it good to also learn more about the field like self researching and getting more info and knowledge about it aside from the certification and maybe learn a nd improve programming language or is it just certification and self knowledge of the field and no programming or just depend on the certification and start self researche/development later when the certification comes to an end? How is it?
One thing at a time! Always!
I’ve been using udemy for years now definitely the best .. the trick is to wait for the deals to hit . But I’ve JavaScript react python networking and now a bit of cyber security
Awesome!
Hi bro, I just discovered your channel! Is there a roadmap that you suggest to learn cibersecurity? Or maybe a video you have that talks about it? I want to learn about it but want to get stong foundations first
I do have videos but I suggest degree and security+!
I really appreciate the input, I've just purchased the CCNA course from Udemy. I've been software testing for the last 23 years and want to transition into Cybersecurity.
CCNA is a great cert!
I can attest to the point on TCM security. I think the courses payment model recently changed.
I am doing a course on their as well :)
TCM Security is my best. I'm lucky to buy some of the courses as stand alone before they started the subscription model.
Their current price is still affordable.
Agreed!
What’s your opinion on best online schools for someone working full time and on a budget? Thank you!
WGU!
Great video man. I could really use some advice on where to start. I have a Bachelors in Criminology (pretty sure that wont help) and was wondering what would be my best option for starting. Does my degree basically mean nothing to companies and should i just do courses. I am thinking about the Google cert course and saw your vid, but im now confused if that would be a waste of time. I want to break into cybersecurity but I'm overwhelmed by the options of either chasing courses or getting certs. I feel like i should try to get an IT entry job first than break into cyber after i get some experience. What would be a good place to start?
So you degree is fine, just try to get a help desk role and while you do that get the security+ and or ccna.
Do help desk positions have low requirements and are any specific courses you recommend to do the security+ or ccna certa
@@balkonee security+!
@@CyberTom are there any specific courses that can prepare me for the security+ exam
Do you use multiple computers at once to work in cybersecurity?
is using smartphone enough for the meantime to finish my cyber security course? I don't have a degree on IT or ComSci however, i know to use computer, such us installing OS and other basic stuff and terminologies etc. I haven't buy a PC or Laptop yet because i don't need them before i put my interest in cyber security.
Awesome good luck!
What are the basics i need to know before starting, maybe things like python,HTML and others
Networking!
i really love this video i just get my Security+
Awesome!
Im 44 and coming out of being a stay at home mum for the past 20 + years. Im looking to get back into work, ill be starting from scratch so i thought cyber might be a good fit for me.. i may be able to work from home/remote, i have plenty of time to study and work, and everything seems to come back to cyber so im gonna do it! just have no idea where to start! So im watching a few videos and taking tips. Thanks for putting information together for use to get going in a new career. Its very much appreciated. God bless 🙏🏾❤️
God bless you too, start with a BA in IT if you can, then network+ and security+
@CyberTom thank you so much.. I really appreciate this. God bless you 🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️
So I have no tech background and no degree but at the moment I’m taking both the google coursera cyber security course and the ISC2 1 million . Afterwards I’m going to go for Comptia A or The Security plus . Then trying to network . If I’m not in school how would I build experience ? How can I be even a consideration for recruiters
I think with those certs you will be qualified for help desk without a degree!
What is your
linkedIn profile?
I have Windows 10 which makes it difficult to open up files when my computer wants to open them through the Microsoft apps. Anyway I can go around this?
Upgrade :)

Hello Tom my name is Jay and I'm in the San Francisco Bay area my question to you is this I used to be an auto mechanic I got hurt disability for the last 34 years I can't go back to automotive anymore so I need a white color job I have been studying I have been taking Google search and things like that the question I have is I'm 50 years old born in 1971 can you tell me realistically what are my chances in getting employee or getting a career in the cyber field and if there is a certain certain field I can go into in the cyber industry please let me know tom thank you for your time I love your videos first time I've seen it and I love it man thank you very much for what you doing brother thank you
First off, you're very welcome! Secondly I think you can definitely get into this field! Look into the BA from WGU it's self paced you can get it done fast for cheap! Also get the security+!
What are your thoughts on the new Google cyber security certificate program???
I have a video on my channel a out about the cert! Check it out!
hello, what do you think about the google coursera cybersecurity and Cisco CCST?
Great beginner course!
@@CyberTom can I land a entry level job with CCST certification alone?
So i see that Linux is a big starting point, should i go through TCM as a complete beginner?
I would say learning Linux is great to know yes
this is the best video for starter like me, i will like you to help me more because i dont have no experence thank you
Great! Keep watching :)
Does anyone suggest taking coursera for cybersecurity at this time ?
Juts started it and it seems to be a good informative course for beginners
Cousera is great I've worked with them in multiple videos! Truly a good company to learn!
Hey cyber Tom. Question? Can I get a certificate or certification for cyber security entry jobs without a 2 year degree
I always suggest a degree! But get the security+ if you cant!
Cyber Tom, kindly recommend a Laptop 💻 I can buy as a beginner. Although I have a very old DELL E6400 💻 but it's very slow. Thanks 🙏
Macbook air!
Am taking ibm cyber security classes need review
would be interesting to know with someone with your knowledge what are you actually getting payed ? sorry to be nosey just interested on if the pays actually high after all of your hard work
You can expect to make 6 figures after 2-3 years in!
@@CyberTom wow thats amazing good on you im currently waiting for a call from it career switch who work with ppl who want career swap into IT and gurentee a job placement at end or if not you dont have to pay for the course!
What's the difference between networking and cybersecurity. I thought that they go hand in hand?? Please clarify.
And on udemy have you catch the sales!! The sales go on major holidays keep that in mind!
Networking is how systems communicate with each other. Security is how to secure those systems!
Hello Tom,
Awesome video.
I have completed the Cisco skillsforAll Introduction to Cybersecurity. I have a background in Law.
What do you suggest I do next?
Get a degree from WGU if you can't then go for aecurity+!
I would love to get into cybersecurity but cant afford to attend college. I have heard you can enter this field with just certifcations? I want to believe that but after looking at a lot of cybersecurity jobs. They all require bachelors or master degrees.
There are aid options! I suggest WGU!
TCM is great for Offence(pen testing) not defence (SOC)
Who would you recommend for defense?
Correct but I believe it's good to learn both!
So Is the online course preparing you mr step 2 of getting certification
Please rephrase!
can you review university of the people computet science program
Rephrase that question please
i instaled VMware worstation player but upon opening kali it asking for a username and password. Doesn't give me the option to create one
There is a standard username and password!
@@CyberTom what is it? i've been looking at other videos but no luck yet
Give me suggestion please I am in fsc And after this i join university for bs cyber security or skip university and learn from website which is more helpful for me
I recommend BS!

Hi! I offer career coaching just choose the join button on my channel and select the CISO option :)

You use DaVinci for video editing
Nope! Premiere!
I want to learn cyber security so I have a good job in the future, but I dont have money to buy courses. Do you know anywhere I can get courses free?
Cousera!
@CyberTom Thank you so much bro, keep up the good work.
Also, do you think trying to learn Cyber Security at 15yo is too early?
@@Moe_Lester67 never too early man!
@@CyberTom Good to know

Hey i just checked out Udemy and all the courses shown in this video are not discounted, they are all full price. Is there a discount code you may be aware of because the prices are ridiculous. Please respond as soon as you see this lol. Also thanks for the vid!
They go on sale very often every couple days.
Hey, I checked on udemy, and all the videos were free because I have library card
Check the black Friday sales.
At least once a month they all go on sale.
Why u didnt mention google certificate or maybe you dont know ???
I know I just don't think it's a top 3 way 😊

Not quite, over the bridge!
First self I want to apologize in advance because my thought may be quite long. I have cerebral palsy, and I have always loved computers. I am on SSDI and want to be able to sustain myself because I am looking forward to getting married and starting a family, even though late in life at the age of 47 with cerebral palsy, I can only type 11 words a minute, I thought about cyber security I can do it remotely from my home and not have to go into the office plus the schedule can be flexible with my disability I must have flexibility also at the present moment I cannot afford to pay three or $4000 for a course with no guarantee for employment. The type of seal palsy I have besides typing with my one finger. The only thing I can do for myself give someone direction and tell them what I need. I get a lot of trolls responding to this comment but I don’t care because I know someone with an honest heart will give me the right answer. Thanks for your help. Much love from Louisiana.
If you want to do security let nothing hold you back!
