Man is just that schools make it so boring i dropped out got my CDL and started trucking man i love it. Although i am considering coming back to school to finish school
I agree with some of your points, but your first point I think may be misleading. Typically we think of Cyber security as being separated into 2 categories being offsec and defensive security, when really we kind of have 3, offsec, defensive security, and compliance. Compliance would include people like your ISSM's, ISSO's, and auditors. Yes they will see new issues, but they will be compliance based and more routine. It's still a cyber security career that people can strive to do if they need something that is lower stress and has more repetition for learning. People that strive to be a CISO one day should probably have a fair amount of experience in the compliance side of the house too, so it has a ton of room for upward growth! Great job though, keep it up!
I'm about to enter my third semester. And I've been on the fence since last semester... And you have described me to the T... Thank you for helping me make the choice. I asked God for a sign and you were it. May someone else take my spot and help y'all out. 😌
Hey Cyber Tom! Thanks for the run-down! I am hesitating between Software Development and Cybersecurity atm (at the cusp of my journey now) And this for sure helped me! (I still don't know what to do as I absolutely love both fields hehe) Hope I can get a job though... Ill check your other vids for more help! Thanks again, and love your vibes man!
Wow! In high school I was heavy into html web coding now Im interested in Cyber security. I enjoy change and learning new daily. I truly appreciate this video
I have watched several of your videos and you definitely answered some questions, I might have had, good to see your transparent and balance the good with the bad! Keep up the good work!!
@@CyberTom I need counselling. I was thinking to start from CCNA then Cyber security fundamentals then certified ethical hacker. Do you have any other recommended pathways?
Thanks again for your honest insights in this video Cyber Tom! I trust that this field suits me and I look forward to learning more and more, and growing 👍
Is this a cons list? All of these sound like pros. A job that is always different always changing. A job that challenges the mind? All of this sounds like a great time.
I love this video because it makes me more confident going into Cybersecurity, would love a dynamic work environment that would place a lot of responsibility on me. I'm only concerned about whether I'd actually find chemistry in it and job prospects for an entry-level college graduate. I'm thinking of going into full-stack web development first and pursuing cybersecurity on the side as a passion and interest. Advice?
You hit all the points as to why I should start a career in Cyber Security. I am in Marketing managing people and looking for a the next move. Cyber security is in that list of moves. However, having a hard time on where to start looking and jump start my next career. Any advice?
Hi Cyber Tom, Please make a video on what is an example of a regular intellectual challenge for a cybersecurity specialist. What kind of "problems" do cybersecurity specialists solve? Thank you for making these interesting videos about Cyber security.
The one concern that I have is that I like to move a lot. I can't sit still for hours every day. Everything else matches up. What do you think? Is that still a possibility to work for me?
With the possible exception of the last point, which is case by case for me, if I didn't know better, I'd say you WERE fluffing it up. For me, those are all reasons to do it. Even the last point I feel is matter of confidence and experience more than anything.
Hi! I am a freshman in college and am trying to get an internship to build my resume. Do you have any tips for people trying to get internships with no experience?
CyberTom, im about to retire after a 30 year law emforcement career. I have a degree, but its not IT related. Could attending some online classes and a tech school be helpful?
Hey Tom , really nice video! I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your video to reach to a wider audience .
How much free time do you get? The way I always hear people describe this field makes it sound like ZERO sleep stuck in front a monitor 24 hours a day! 🤣😶
