  • Super excited with this one. Replaced polariser film on Casio F-91W watch with the one I stripped off an old Nokia phone. Simple LCD screen modification, but looks better than I expected!

    @ 6:15 After you peeled the film from the display, there was a point during the pre-assembly test firing that there was a segment missing from the #4 in the minutes. Was that from pulling the film too hard or was it from when you squeezed and pressed on the display? Either way, did it ever work itself out or did it get stuck like that? Also, not that it really matters because it already sucked right out of the box, but how did this process affect the backlight?
    It's a cool mod. I don't see where the others say it ruined the display by making it unreadable, from what I can tell, all it did was change it to negative, exactly like any other negative display watch. Also, one more question because I couldn't tell because of the camera angle, the lighting and my own semi-poor eyesight, but... When you were spinning the film around on the display before cutting it to fit, were you getting multiple patterns depending on how it was positioned, it was it just full on and full off?

    • @Techsas
      @Techsas  5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The missing segments happen when connection to the screen (that long rubber piece) is not aligned properly. Light is as useless as original. Depending on polariser film you can get different colors. In my case one side did normal to inverted screen and the other side introduced different colors depending on the angle.
      Thank you for the kind word!

      Cool thanks for the info. I guess now I just have to figure out what devices I want to tear apart for their polarizers. I've got tons of choices since I never throw away or otherwise rid myself of any phones, mp3 players, calculators, etc so I guess some experimentation might be in my near future. yo i juts relived my childhood with this!
    My dad used to bring me lots of this to wear, but me as a gypsy, I always opened them up! I know how every piece of that feel.
    My sister gave me a huge 250$ watch to wear to my suit. but I went for a refund it cos needed the money to fund my startup!
    So while I was waiting in the Jewelry shop, Casio came into mind... what if...? and so I ask if I can have another watch instead and the good folk said
    - We can do anything, which one you want?
    - That one! I said launching toward the watches shelves. he kindly followed me, open the glass windows and I immediately touched a superb clasic w59 that was on sale for 17 GBP had been previously 24GBP. I looked at it, and at all his brothers, around. The fake rolex, The Sport version, the Silver one.. but since I touched this one first, I grabed it from the saleman's hand and I said:
    - It''s This One!
    Programing it first time, oh maaann it really was like driving a bike. In Casio terms, GENIAL, simplisticorum, INTUITIVE.
    I got at home, and I googled this watch! It is IMMENSELY popular among geeks, moreso, Bill is wearing it and for me, as an Entrepreneur, operating from a suburban shed, is extremely inspiring and I got nothing to say no more!
    Today I said im gonna look into the hourly alarm beeping. and I thought to myself. Maan I think mine couldn't possibly have that function, maybe the one with 4 buttons .... (because im brainwashed by media and curent business that you always have to expect less that what you pay for.
    But wasn't I more wrong in disconsideting this absolute HERO watch, with TIME and close proximity environment changer... IT IS THERE WORLD! I have it too! and I think is the single most powerful weapon for productivity.
    I finetuned syncronize it to atomic clock. Missed the sync by under 01 sec, so I had to wait one more minute, waiting with my hand on the trigger to hit that exact spot +0,1 into the future, so I always 0.1 ahead! I set the daily notification and im more ready than ever!
    Thank you, Casio!

    If i touch thar little black strup with my hands, will it stip working. Because the little black strup fell out of mine while j was trying to install a light spreader. I pucked it up and put it back in and the display was scrambled. Then i tried to clean the contacts woth alcohol and now its just dead.

    Hi! Love your vids. I am having difficulty changing this watch buckle and the strap retainer, I can't seem to push the spring bar to release them, and i searched EVERY where to find if anyone did it before on this watch but no one has. Do you know how to do it? If you do a search, no one has it on TH-cam thus far.

    • @Techsas
      @Techsas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! On F91W it's actually not a spring bar it's just a... bar. It has no springs so you have to push it from outside. One end of that bar is flat and the other is pointy, push the pointy one and it should pop out. There is also and arrow on the back of the strap that shows where is the pointy end. So to take it out push in the different direction.

      It's really hard to say if F91W is original these days. I've seen many good fakes. Open it up and look at the quality of components, that will give it away.

    cool video people say adding mineral oil will make a watch water-proof is this true ?

    • @Techsas
      @Techsas  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you! Apparently yes. Since a liquid cannot be compressed simply filling the watch with liquid would make the watch resistant to any further liquid ingress to whatever depth since it already ís 100% full. Also mineral oils are only slightly conductive therefore it does not effect insides of the watch. That's a good idea for a video.
