pro tip - remove only 1 upper bolt and leave the other bolt loosened in place when removing the shock. it helps when reinstalling and the post will just slide out from the one side.
Looking good. Most companies use those brake-line drop brackets. If you don’t have to bend the hard lines, they’ll be fine. I’m kinda funny about bending brake lines, though - the $100 for longer soft lines seems like the better route. I also never realized y’all had a Facebook page until you referenced it here. I’ll have to check it out. Happy Jeeping!
I know what you mean. Same goes for the front. Just didn't like having to stretch down the factory hard lines at all. So far I have let them be. Also didn't like the fact that the front required brackets for the sway bar links. Would have been better to just include two new end links so I might be replacing those soon as well. So glad you found us on Facebook we try to post their more often. As editing the videos takes a bit of time and can be delayed you know.
BubbasGarageTv I agree on the end links. AEV’s use of brackets rather than new parts is the root of a lot of the animosity thrown their way. It might be different if they weren’t offered st a premium price.
I have the brake extension lines on my JKUR now for almost 2yrs with no problems. It has been flexed out many times off road with no signs of a problem. I was thinking of the stainless line swap too but these are going strong so I keep pushing it off.
SWEET, If you dont mind me asking which extension did you go with. I haven't ordered mine yet but need to do it asap. I so should have done the extensions before this current trip.
Right on brother. Thanks a bunch for your help, truly means a lot. Keep me posted on your e-brake cable. I was very surprised to see the same ware on Bobbies Jeep. Kinda sketchy for sure.
I checked our JK. We have a 2.5” Teraflex lift. The rubber sleeve around the e-brake cable is indented a small amount but no abrasions on it or on the cables. Will continue to keep and eye on it.
@@mikehoffman3690 Not too bad, kinda scary thought. Guess the figured by the time it's an issue we would have sold our Jeeps hahaha. How are you liking that lift?
The lift and GenRight fenders allow us to run35” tires with no issues. I am a fan of TeraFlex. We have their 2.5” lift with Fox 2.0 shocks, Tera44 front axles, front and rear Dif covers, and Adjustable upper and lower rear control arms. The Jeep runs better than new.
I wish there was a voiceover guy with that music "In a time, where lift kits feel like they can only be installed in big shops. Comes a guy from SE TX named Bubba who installs the AEV in his own garage!"
Hey hey hey brother. Glad to hear from you. Yeah seems like I only have time to get one video edited in a week. Sure wish I had more time :( Hope you are doing well.
Yall make it look easy. Almost made me want to try it almost lol. I'm just gona keep an eye out for the next episode. Also have yall done an episode on how to remove the hard top. I have to do it to get the soft top out .it came from the factory with it installed and it's never been used and it's a 2012 model. .
Hey Brother. Honestly it wasn't as bad as I expected that's for sure. Only wished I had some better tools. Actually we have never done a video on the hard top removal at all. Ill add that to the list for sure and keep you posted :) Honestly the hardest part is once you have it all disconnected is getting it off the Jeep. Having some help is a huge plus :)
@@BubbasgarageTv Any tools in particular you wish you had besides the ratchet and wrench set? I'm planning an AEV lift install and need to acquire the necessary tools.
Honestly out side of what we used the racheting wrenches would have been hand other wise things went well. Hope this helps. Which kit are you going to be installing the 2.5 or the 3.5?
Great video! Thanks for taking the effort to put it together. I'm in the same boat as you: '17 JKU Sport, planning on same lift w/control arm brackets. You have one great advantage: your shop foreman(woman). Dude, if she weren't there to keep you on track it'd be all over, man. Done. Fini. Game over. Pfffffft..... You better hope she keeps you around! But seriously, what I most enjoyed was watching the way you two work together. Cudos, guys. Okay, enough moralizing. Coupla' Q's. Are you running 33's or 35's? and do you like your KO2's? (I will be installing them on mine as well). Are you running the stock gearing (3.21) or does the Winter have 3.73's Did you use the ProCal mod to adjust your settings? if so, are you happy with how it works? Also, thanks everyone for other comments, they will be helpful when I take my turn installing this kit (minus a foreman ... holy $%&@, actual instructions? ALL BY MYSELF??? hope there's lots and lots of pictures = P ) . And now, on to the front.
Hey thanks a bunch. Its sure is great having a wife that loves Jeeps too. :) - Currently we are still running 33" KO2's We will be swapping them out in the near future for 33's - Stock gearing the winter edition came with 3.73's, Dont think I would ever be happy with 3.21's especially when towing you know. - Haven't had a need for the ProCal just yet but see it possible in the near future ;) Sure hope to do the update discussion really soon on how this kit has held up. All in all really solid kit love it.
Hi Michael. I have to say so far im really happy with the ride quality. I hope to get the front portion of the install completed and upload for next week. We did elect to install the geometry correction brackets as well. Ill provide a more updated review ones I have some more miles on it but so far really happy.
Really great Episode 💖 Everything looks so easy, but I'm happy when I found some things in a Driving School Car...that makes my teacher not really happy :)
I got a question about the installing the aev 2.5 dual sport lift. The instructions said to use a Jack and Jack stands, so what I have are 2 power built 3 ton bottle jack/stand and 2 3 ton Jack stands. Would that work?
I think that should work. Safety is key. Do what ever you can to make dang sure that if something failed that rig does not fall on you or anyone else you know.
@@BubbasgarageTv I agree that safety is the main key. I put spare tires under the frame next to the jackstands with 2 4x4 post blocks each side to keep the jeep up if the jackstands fail. I check the "lifts" with the wheels on to be sure that nothing slips. Thats one of the main safety key when most do not have a 2 post lift.
I haven't be able to work on the lift kit yet because when I started loosening the lug nuts on the rear wheels, I had trouble with 2 lug nuts that stayed firm. Took superhuman strength trying to loosen it and it twisted the lug nuts. Took alot of drilling, chiseling, dremel/die grinding on those nuts and found that somebody who owned that jeep before I bought it glued the lugs to the studs with silver automotive epoxy because the studs were stripped. Now I have to replace all the wheel studs and lug nuts on 4 wheels and get steel wheels because that work damaged the factory aluminum wheel on my 2007 jeep jk Sahara 2 dr. 😖
@@ianvanilar7153 OH MY GOODNESS!! Gosh sorry to hear that. I guess on a positive note. It will all be new and one less thing to worry about later right.
Did you use the brake line brackets from Summit on the front and rear? Also, when you lifted the rear did you use the rear differential to lift? By the way, I find your videos most informative. Thanks !
Thanks so much for your kind words. Hope they help. We did end up installing the Summit brackets in this video here: th-cam.com/video/51sDsaKlm5o/w-d-xo.html We only installed the front ones. When lifting we did use the rear dif. Our jack has a rubber bad on it the help keep from damaging anything. Hope this helps.
