It’s trendy to call war crimes “gigachad” behavior nowadays. Let’s not forget Eren killed a whole slew of civilians, making them the first casualties of the war.
@@AzetarisWhy start there? Why don’t we go back and acknowledge that this all started because of the Eldian empire who slaughtered and conquered the world in the first place? Bringing about a million times more casualties than anything Marley did to Paradis for 2000 years. The current conflict only began 100 years after the empires reign of terror ended, we can point fingers all day long but nothing justifies the slaughter of innocents by either side.
The reason Willy is so scared of Eren, is because he read a report from Reiner that mentioned Eren used the Founding Titan to control Mindless Titans. But unlike everyone else in the Marley government, Willy knows that only the Royal Family can use it. So in his mind, there is someone capable of using the most dangerous weapon in existence without falling under the First King's brainwashing that forces pacifism on its user. Literally the worst thing possible in his mind, as someone who agrees with Karl Fritz that Eldians deserve to die..
@@9eishitasharma501but Reiner and Willy don’t know that, hence them forcing the issue because of the potential danger Eren poses. The need for setting the whole world against paradis is spurred by this misunderstanding, which is yet another element of tragedy in this situation that nobody wants but so many characters still move forward doing terrible things they feel they must.
When it comes to the conversation between Reiner and Eren, there are several ways that you can interpret it that foreshadows a lot that happens later on in the show, especially when it comes to character motivation that I feel a lot of people easily miss out on the first watch. At the start, we see Bertolt talking about wanting to be judged, and this applies to Reiner. Reiner feels the guilt of the horrible things he's done on Paradis and once he is back home, he keeps getting rewarded for it, for being a 'hero'. His guilty conscious suffers more from it, when all he really wants is to be punished for the things he has done, things that he knows were wrong. When he sees Eren, he expects Eren to deliver that punishment onto him, but he doesn't. Instead, Eren is compassionate towards him and even shows some sympathy. Reiner, expecting Eren to deliver him some judgement, asks Eren if he is going to kill them all like he said he would, but Eren cringes at his old self and instead just gives Reiner an out almost mockingly, telling him that if he 'did it to save the world, then he didnt really have a choice'. Reiner finally has enough and tells Eren that his true motivations were selfish, where people around him see him as an honorable warrior who fought the island devils, but in reality he went so he could be a hero, so he could be admired and be with his parents. Instead of Eren getting mad and bashing him for it, Eren simply says the same thing again that they 'are the same', and this is what Eren was truly getting at. There are two ways that you can interpret this conversation, one is the literal and the obvious meaning that Eren came here across the sea just like Reiner and pals did, but the more subtle meaning is that Eren and Reiner both had their own motivations for coming here, motivations that were selfish, different from the more righteous reasons that the people around them, and yet they still went through with their plans. This is further supported when Eren says 'dont you get it?' because Reiner truly does not understand what he meant during their conversation. As you watch you'll see exactly what I mean about Eren ** ** SPOILER: Eren's motivations are also selfish, and his motivations are not entirely for his friends like he tells everyone around him. His true motivation is to obtain that freedom that he saw in Armins book, that dream he has always had as a kid.

I know you both are way ahead now but just some fun food for thought. When you mentioned how Eren said he and Reiner were the same and that he doesn’t blame him for what he did but they are still enemies that must be destroyed… it’s not very different from the end of season 3 with Bertholdt. If you remember the confusion of how calm he was and called them comrades but they must still die, this is another reflection of that. This show does parallels so well and I’m sad by how frequently Bertholdt gets overlooked and how tragic his story was. He understood everything, he saw there were no devils, there were just people, but he could do nothing to stop the bloodshed. He didn’t want to do it but he was hoping he could stop the cycle if he bloodied his hands. But he resisted from season one to the end of season three when he just accepted that nothing could be done about it. We're the same: Crossing the sea, living with the enemies and realized that not all of them are bad. Despite realizing that, we keep moving, finishing the mission and destroy our enemies.
I think the best interpretation of the “I’m just like you” scene is that they’re both pursuing selfish goals for stupid reason. Reiner breaks down and admits “no you don’t get it all of this is because I wanted to be respected and a the hero” and even after that Eren says “just like I thought. I’m just like you”
The most accurate interpretation of this is that Eren defaulted after hearing Willy say the line about wanting to live because of being born into the world, something that Eren always heard from his mom, and you can clearly see that trigger a change in his expressions. Hence him saying, "I'm just like you" to Reiner most likely is a response to that statement by Willy. Eren could've gone through with this massacre without having this confrontation with Reiner. Ultimately it's fair to assume Eren wanted a dialogue hoping it could change things and it almost did till Willy lit the fuse.
The scene where Will stands on the stage and the press takes a photo of him all at the same time reminded me of the animal titan summoning the titans - it has so much symbolism
When first watching, this part made me so mad because I was thinking that they could have a conversation. Just as Marco said "we didn't even talk this through" or something. Their mentality is actually so close from being "good", right? It felt like Armin could just convince them lol
"We're the same, Reiner." Reiner recognized, after staying in the walls, that people are just people. Eren realized, after crossing the sea, that people are just people. But Reiner still chose violence in the end, so Eren did too. lol "I keep moving forward."
When this episode came out twitter/ X was trending with declaration of war. You can just imagine how people who don't watch AOT felt when they saw that lol.

Well. A lot of things in this episodes, we already knew it. We already knew the king inside tha walls hide in the walls to stop war. Remember season 3, when Eren Kruger explained the King abandonned war to retreat on the Island. It was all thanks to his alliance with the Tyber family. And they gave seven of the nine, the others family holding the titans, to Marley, building a hero Helos, who lead them. Basically, the Great titan War ended with a lie built by the Tyber and the Royal family. But We already knew the royal family was against conflict, and wished for his people's destruction. Like Willy said, he thought Eldians sins were so grave that they had to lose and let Marley use Eldians, as atonement. Everything the Eldians on the continent, and on the Island, lived during these years, was all because of the King, who believed, inheriting memories of past titans, that Eldians were the ones who had to die for the sake of the world. They wished to shoulder the world's sins, to say it with few words. Remember the ending of season 3, one more time, when Eren discovered how to use the power of the Founding titan, that his dad stole to the royal family. By stoling this power, they wanted to undo the Vow Renoucing war, who unslaved the royal family's will to his idealogy. Because Eren was not royal blood, he is free to use the Founding Titan as he want. But to use it, he need to touch royal blood from a titan. That's why Eren could use the Fouding titan in the end of season 2, when Eren touched Dinah, who had royal blood. Basically, Eren need a titan with royal blood, and he could use the Founding titan as he want. Eren can't use it without this condition. But since the Founding Titan is no more in the hands of the royal family, the Tyber found out the danger. The Founding Titan, with the good conditions, can be used. And it's the best weapon ever made, if you can control every Eldians and titans, including the millions of Colossal titans inside the walls.
11:47 the parallel: - Just kill me! (obviously he wants to die) Another one a second later: - But I do not wish to die Also, the fact that one actually involved into war conflict directly and doesn't want it. And another one who doesn't participate in war directly but responsible for keeping it going... Disturbing.

Willy declared war and Eren signed it with their blood.
13:01 When u so deep in, your brain freezes because of the ''to be continued''
"سأستمر بالمضي قدماً حتى أبيد أعدائي كافة "
Started watching Attack on Titan with you two for my first reaction video!!! Love the channel!!! Your reactions are great and so fun to watch. It really gets interesting in this season!!! ❤
Hello from Japan. I enjoy your reaction videos. Thank you very much 👏
After Tyber's speech declaring war
Eren was like " alright let me make the first move "
We're the same:
Crossing the sea, living with the enemies and realized that not all of them are bad.
I’m just like you”
Spoilers:
Also that mirrors well with Eren's breakdown in the end.
Man this episode goes so hard man the build up the suspense the dialogues and the music everything was perfect
The second trinity start now🔥👽
Every people are freaked out when this episode was on worldwide trending on Twitter 🗿
Eren is the definition of a "quick response."
The scene where Will stands on the stage and the press takes a photo of him all at the same time reminded me of the animal titan summoning the titans - it has so much symbolism
Man, when this episode aired… It was wild. The speculations and all of the fans being so blindsided.
Not just one of the best episodes in AoT, one of the best episodes in all of anime.
I agree
Yeah, no action, no drama just pure tension building and a payoff at the end leaving the audience craving for moree
Eren waited until the declaration of war and now he'll will keep moving forward 🔥
It’s such boss move to wait till he says I declare war 😂 Challenge Accepted 👹
9:54 yeah nah as I was watching I was in awe like this shiii was crazy to find out that Eren all along had possessed this much power
This is one of the rare instances that I saw a different thumbnail (breath of fresh air, I’d say) on a popular episode like this.
I’m so hyped for Monday
This cliff hanger made me stay up late to watch the next episode for sure haha
When first watching, this part made me so mad because I was thinking that they could have a conversation. Just as Marco said "we didn't even talk this through" or something. Their mentality is actually so close from being "good", right? It felt like Armin could just convince them lol
"We're the same, Reiner."
Reiner recognized, after staying in the walls, that people are just people.
Eren realized, after crossing the sea, that people are just people.
But Reiner still chose violence in the end, so Eren did too. lol
"I keep moving forward."
Reiner: Why did you come here?
Eren: Same reason you did
Reiner: *pisses pants
This episode is super intense from the start and is one of my favourites❤️
@13:01 LoL, Kiss's reaction at the end. 😂
11:56 yeah, good question 🤣🤣
13:02 This needs to be a gif 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Someone make this a reality!

When this episode came out twitter/ X was trending with declaration of war. You can just imagine how people who don't watch AOT felt when they saw that lol.
This is where the fun begins
0:30 sweet
10:51 not like "I vaguely remember it. Anyway forget it", but like "Oh, I said that? ...Just forget that pls."
14:43 Bert was tall during training
この物語はここからが本番だからね…!!
ずっと楽しみに待ってました❤
nah, it's all downhill from here on out.
- Oh my god, that spastic seizure from Kiss at the "To Be Continued" moment was quite possibly the best AOT moment of all time. :)
The main story of Attack on Titan has begun
13:07 lol, poor pen
That pen must have felt pleasure as a masochist. lol
Reiner: I wanted to save the word
Eren: I'm the same as you
Reiner: No, actually I did it because I wanted to
Eren: ... Same
This show 🤯

Next week gonna be fire with eps 6, 7, & 8
I had to watch this episode three times when it first came out.
reiner had the chance to turn back before destroying the walls, but he pushed the rest of the group into moving forward. eren had every opportunity to not attack liberio yet he does so anyway. him telling reiner they are the same.... chills
poor Falco. it feels like I´ve waited thousands of years for this reaction🥺 !!!!
You can’t keep me hanging on a Friday. Especially at this cliffhanger. I might just get the patreon reactions damn it.
13:04 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Sending ❤ from Colombia!
One need not fear Eren when he is screaming and shouting. One must fear Eren when he is calm and quiet.
one of my favorite episodes of any show!
Definitely top 3 best episodes in my opinion
ここからもう一つの物語が始まる🎵
11:47 the parallel:
- Just kill me! (obviously he wants to die)
Another one a second later:
- But I do not wish to die
Also, the fact that one actually involved into war conflict directly and doesn't want it.
And another one who doesn't participate in war directly but responsible for keeping it going... Disturbing.
even my legs have goosebumps
someone calculated that there are about half a million of colossal titans in all 3 walls
Oh how I crave for the next few episodes this instant.
One of the peak , and peak after peak.
