During my first watch through I didnt think much of it, I just accepted it as reality of war but when you really think about it, it truly is tragic.
Yeah, I even thought it was cool when I first watched it. Now I realized how evil it really is🙁

- Add cool music or images
- intimidate your own by dehumanizing the enemy
- say cool and bravado words that were prepared in advance.
And that's it, even the smartest people can fall for it.

Her reaction is the reaction you're suppose to have when seeing that. Because even though this is fiction, people have been used in this way IRL in wars.
SnK was written for people like Kiss. Only someone with that kind of sensibility understands the atrocities that the show depicts and that we should not tolerate in our world
Because our world has advanced so much in comparison but our world was just like that 150, 500, 1300, 2000, -3000, years ago it was brutal. Those people were traitors to Marley and conspirators, some were innocent of course like everything and were used for the bigger purpose of winning this war and after try and and defeat Paradis to kinda save the world, but the moment I supported more Marley was when the high-rank officials died and Magath took control, he likes Eldians, honestly if all Eldians unite they could conquer the world easily.
This is literally a depiction of ww1 and ww2 battles. This was literally the lrwvious century. 100 years ago. There are people alive today that fought in these wars.

Then why the show present it as ineluctable ?
Eldians aren't choosing to fight for Marley, they chose to live at all. Their other option was "Paradise"
And the propaganda increase their hate to their similars in Paradise.
That doesn't make it better, imagine the same excuse during the holocaust "oh I didn't want to do it but they made me"

You might think "I'd rather die" but the subjugators wouldn't grant you that mercy, they'd instead make you watch your family suffer unspeakable things to make you reconsider your position...
@@Kaiverze It's one thing to get in line, but another thing to be totally on board, like a certain Warrior candidate. That's why I hated that character at first and found the comparison of the character to Eren by a lot of people completely ridiculous.

Not many writers would have the stones to treat their audience with such intellectual respect. Isayama didn't give us anything just threw us into a warzone in which we have nothing but confusion and said figure it out. Which put us in the trenches with them. As our focus is on the overarching story and how the threads of the plot connect he was focused on the battle and the intricacies of war. Its sooo brilliant as our two perspectives come clashing together and the pieces start coming together. As the dust settles all we can ask is where are our heroes?

I totally agree. Little exposition but very well done. Rarely do we have things simply explained to us or are directly reminded of things. Which does lead to many people missing things but that's often okay

To clarify the timeline a bit, Magath mentioned that Marley's operation to infiltrate Paradis and steal the Founding Titan was nine years ago, which was when the first Warrior Unit (Reiner, Bertolt, Annie, and Marcel) arrived to break Shiganshina's gate back in episode 1 in the year 845. Episode 4 and onward took place in year 850, five years after the Colossal Titan compromised Wall Maria, and the last episode of season 3 has the Survey Corps reach the sea one year after they took back Wall Maria. Season 4 primarily takes place in the year 854, three years after the final scene in season 3, but it does time jump through past years in different parts of the story.
They figured it out right after that. I’m amazed how quickly they’ve caught up with the 4 years difference

Kiss’ mid reaction broke my heart, she is going to feel this season like crazy 💔 which is exactly the purpose of the whole show, the narrative echoes deeply with our world’s past and still ongoing history.
very quickly this show introduced and held up the mirror to our own history to draw on it to immediately form the emotional connection. A lot of disgusting things have, are and will occur in our own world. Many anime don't go this deep into provoking though about our own existence as a species. Glad these two pick up on it rather than just blindly cheering on the action.

In S4 he isn't. He shows redeeming qualities, but still fight for Marley and make nonsensical decisions, like later when he says to Eren to just stop fighting, so Marley can genocide Eldians some more. He was interesting in S1-3, but in S4 he is terrible, alongside Pieck, Porco, etc.

I remember me watching this season for the first time with out understanding anything, because of the many information they give. You will for sure enjoy a lot this final season. I felt the same way as Kiss when the Eldian's were sacrificed from the air drop. They were innocent people condemned to death purely because of their race, something no one deserves. I can already tell the final season is going to be another rollercoaster of emotions but I'm glad I get to experience it again with my favourite reactors 😊

16:10 Zeke is referring to the fact that because they were defeated by the scouts at the Battle of Shinganshina and unable to capture Eren(more specifically the Founder), other nations believed they could stand against Marley as well since they were defeated by an underdeveloped nation.
Marley is basically if Germany won ww2 and obtained global dominance
Seasons 1, 2, and 3 were just the prologue. This is the real shit.
The Final Season is a long and wild ride for sure

To clarify, this season takes place four years after the end of season 3. It was 9 years before that the warriors attacked the walls, in 845, so theyre in 854 essentially. This season also shows the other side of the sea and what is happening. It also gives the opportunity to shift the perspective, first on paradis, and now marley.
Kiss's empathy made this my favorite reaction from them
If it's this how they are reacting to the first episode of this season then this will be a very very tough season for both of them.

Now you can see why this show is a masterpiece. Seeing the point of view of the side I used to think of as my enemy makes me feel complicated and unable to support just one side or the other.
One of my favorite episodes honestly. I love the whole fort sequence
Reiner is my second favorite character in the series. He's so cool despite taking the most L's in the show, he's also a top 5 character in the show, arguably top 3.
Not to mention, he has the best OST's when he transforms (Youseebiggirl, Ashes on the Fire)

This season they changed the animation studio. Before it was animated by WIP Studio and now it is animated by MAPPA, who animated anime such as Jujutsu Kaisen or Chainsaw Man. So that's where the change in tone, style and music comes from.
A more appropriate name for this opening is "slow poison"

I really appreciate you caring about the Eldians sacrificed by Marley...pretty much all of the reactors I have seen had automatically switched to supporting Marley because it is the viewpoint we are seeing now. They even celebrated this conquering... it's nice seeing you mourn those lives lost.
