So glad I found you a year ago or so. I’ve been needing to clean my house for years. For years I never had the energy to take my thing’s upstairs unless absolutely necessary. I’ve been 95-97% carnivore for about 5 months now; my house has needed cleaning over 5 years. The last 2 months I’ve been cleaning nonstop. I have so much energy for going up & down the stairs several times in a day without getting exhausted. I’ve made a 180. I’m constantly cleaning now. My home is spotless. So easy to do when you’re not on constant pain from inflammation. When your knee, ankle & bottom of your foot doesn’t hurt.
I wake up in the morning my skin is flawless. Not all oily & greasy like it use to be. It’s so much improved that I need only a very gentle something in the morning. I could just rinse with water really.
My stomach is completely flat. My butt unfortunately is still huge but I have a very nice curvy shape now & the fat is still melting away. My Afro is thick, beautiful & healthy as I consume bone broth daily. My shopping in the grocery store is fast & simple. My mental clarity is off the charts. I’m so happy now; it’s hard to explain.

I just don't have that kind of money, unfortunately. Even with health insurance, it's all so incredibly expensive. I've also suffered from Acid Reflux for the past several years.I've recently cut out all sugars and carbs other than vegetable carbs. My Acid reflux has almost vanished...I'm hoping for a lower or at least the same CAC score when I test again in a year. I really want to prove my Dr. wrong, but mostly I want to be healthy. @smudgelove7488 -- I'm 56 and curious about your Magnesium/Potassium intake as it relates to your heart palpitations.
In 2019 when I switched to carnivore diet and intermittent fasting, I replaced my toxic white salt with Redmond's Real Salt and got a subscription to LMNT for their Magnesium/Potassium/sodium electrolytes.
This combo restored my mag/Potassium levels and symptoms like dizziness (when quickly rising from squatting/kneeling while gardening) and heart palpitations disappeared.
I also slowly stepped down from caffeine by exchanging regular coffee grounds with Four Sigmatic's organic blend with mushroom powder.
This helped tremendously to decrease unnecessary heart exertion -- including eliminating the rapid heartbeat which tells our body we're in "Fight or Flight" danger, thus also dropping my cortisol level.
By all these positive replacements, I discovered how to better manage my job & family stresses without caffeine that masked my chronic sleep deprivation of getting only 6 hours of sleep....all combined to eliminate my heart palpitations.
Bonus: giving my body nontoxic, unprocessed Salt also:
-- eliminated my addiction to salty snacks (and the water retention & carb-inflammation that goes with it)
-- eliminated the varicose veins in my feet & ankles that many women pay for saline injections to eliminate!

What a timely video, Dr. Berry! I'm a 72YO woman with a congenital heart defect (ASD repaired twice), am in AFib, have eaten mostly a Keto (early Atkins) and carnivore diet all my life. In 2019 I had a CAC after my cardiologist told me my LDL was up and wanted to put me on a statin. Before I mentioned a CAC, he suggested I do that. My score was 17 and he was happy about that. Fast forward to this week. Sunday I had shortness of breath and went to the ER early Monday morning. Many EKGs, bloodwork, an echo, a chemical stress test, and finally checkmate ... an angiogram. My doctor told me that he thought the abnormal stress test result was wrong. He did not believe that I had a blockage or had had a heart attack. At 7 this morning he did the angiogram. 20 minutes later he told me that just as he thought, I had no blockage. I do have right-side heart failure so I'll be tweaking a few things but I will not go off my proper human diet. He'll repeat my echo in three months to see if I've regained some of the functionality, which is 40% currently. I felt the biggest victory of my life! He knows I only eat animal products, mostly beef. He's not giving it credit, but he's not discrediting it either! Small victories!! I'm home, worn out, but ate a hamburger patty within an hour of being home! PHD forever!!! Also, I plan to repeat my CAC within a month.

In 2016, on my 50th birthday, I had a funny feeling. As a nurse, I knew all the buzzwords, so I went to the ER and complained of "discomfort," even though all I felt was a little indigestion and back pain. My EKG/troponins were normal. They rolled their eyes but kept me overnight. The next day I immediately failed the stress test and saw the widened QRS complex when the treadmill elevated after a few moments. I couldn't do it. I was ready to drop when I saw the "tombstone." The day after that, the cardiac cath showed a >70% blockage at the LAD bifurcation and I was unstentable, which meant I was getting open heart surgery. They next day I had a "cardiac event" but to avoid emergent surgery on Saturday night, they kept turning up the nitro drip, and I lived til Monday morning, got a LIMA bypass, no heart damage, and walked out on Friday.
Now I have been fasting. I recently had to have another cardiac cath, and the doc said the blockage is less than 50%.
FYI, I have been taking Atorvastatin 40mg daily, and I did fast for 28 days straight in January. I know I didn't have to tell u the whole history- just wanted to 😆

Some of it is from injuries but not all. I used to feel like I had Lyme disease. That is how bad the pain was. I don't have a thyroid right. It is burnt from treatment from Graves' disease. I'm hypothyroid, been on eltroxin for decades, began carnivore 11 months ago and my thyroid began producing more hormone so the eltroxin dose became too much and had to be reduced.

I'm not sure what kind of test I had as for the name but it sounds like the one you stated here. I had a CT scan with contrast to check my arteries as I was having chest pains that still is a wonder as to why. My results came back that stated I had zero blockages and had a zero percent chance of dying due to a heart attack.
I'm a 52 year old, over worked LEO that was afford approximately 5 hours a day sleep over the past 7 years of my full duty career. Sleep is something we all need. Work, raising kids, and trying to give everyone all of me all the time including my community, I suppose took a toll on me.
Food, yes food is life and probably is the one thing and reason why I scored a big fat zero on the test. My issue is stress. I have always eaten good. Not keto good but in my time with keto one year, it taught me what to eat and my amount to eat. I still try the zero sugar option when possible or just have water. I do like coffee and butter as my cream. I'm not 100% with this option, but cream works too. Just something to cut the acid of coffee.
I'd go full keto but that year ended me having to have my Gallbladder removed. Now I don't think keto had any to do with it needing to be removed as I am sure it was giving me problems before had. Keto did help slow down the Gallbladder attacks. The Gallbladder does help with the fats. I have to be careful with fats.
Anyways, good stuff and thanks for the information.

I agree completely with your dietary advice and have followed such a diet for years. However, I use a key vitamin to reduce arterial plaques, (at least in my own experience), as verified by serial coronary calcium CT scores. That vitamin is K-2; distinctly different than K-1. A real food diet will insure sufficient K-1, but K-2 is another story. It is found in grass fed beef, and grass fed dairy products like cheese. Sadly, that type animal derived K-2 is hard to find in the American food supply. I therefore find supplementation a necessary means to acquire adequate K-2. (I take a K-2/D-3 daily supplement: (180mcg K-2/5000 IU D-3). K2 activates MGP via carboxylation, which acts to transport calcium through the blood and thus resists deposition of calcium in smooth muscle tissue. There are several easily accessed, (through Pub-Med), studies that support the benefits of K-2. Additionally K-2 helps to build bone and teeth through activation, (again via carboxylation) of osteocalcin, which in turn helps the proliferation of osteoblasts. BTW: I use the K-2, as MK-7 derived from bacterial fermentation rather than the synthetic MK-4 form of K-2.

Aside from the CAC score there is also the resting heart rate. The better your circulatory system health the lower will be your beats per minute. I started a dirty keto intermittent fasting life style in January 2017. I began recording my blood pressure and resting heart rate every day in June of 2018. At that time my 30 day average resting heart rate was 75. Today it is 64. I'm 72 years old. CAC score does not always correlate with amount of coronary artery blockage. The amount of soft plaque (plaque with a small amount of calcium) is very important when determining blockage percentage. In my case, my CAC score was 330 but I had an 80% blockage in my right coronary artery and a 50% blockage in my left anterior descending. Also, soft plaque is very unstable and can easily rupture and cause a major life threatening blockage.

I just had emergency stent surgery 5 days ago. 2 stents were placed in my arteries. I had 100% and 90% blockage. In 2021 I had stamina no endurance issues, so I had a treadmill stress test, and nothing was found. I started eating lo-carb and keto diet (2020 / 2021). Lost weight but the endurance and stamina issues continued. Felt fine since then. I work out and hike several days a week. Been carnivore 4 days per week and several times a week doing IF. Lo carb days maybe 30 grams. Last Sunday I was doing Sprinting exercises. Sprint 20-30 seconds and walk 2 minutes and repeat. Then I did resistance training chest and arms. Few hours later I was installing a muffler in the driveway laying on my back. After I finished, I felt very tired and had no strength. Had a soreness in the middle near my sternum. Thought it was chest muscle stress from working out earlier and later working on my back pressing upward installing muffler. I had no signs of heart problem from my sprints or work out or installing muffler. Just feeling fatigued. I am in pretty good shape. Keto, IF and started carnivore these past 5 months. Past several years Keto and IF. Monday morning around 2am I wasn`t getting better. Thought I was getting a cold or covid. Started taking my vitals. Side Note: I`m a member of the Sheriff`s Search and Rescue team and have experience in medical and staying in shape. I had no signs during those past 12 hours of any heart problem other than fatigue. I noticed that my heart rate was in the low 30`s around 3am. When I got up in jumped to mid 60`s. But as soon as I relaxed it dropped quickly to 30`s. I asked my wife to take me to ER. While in ER I explained what has happened in the last 15 hours. After a quick examination I was told I had a Heart Attack during my sprint exercise. Then the fatigue hit me several hours later. The chest soreness disappeared when I entered ER. But after 30 minutes the pain returned. I had another heart episode, so they decided for surgery asap. I was released Thursday evening. Now I am on several medications. I am not sure what to do. I believe in Keto and carnivore. Never had any signs of heart problem until this past Sunday. Everyone is surprised I had a heart attack, especially myself. Any thoughts please.

Lately, at 71, I'm feeling good taking my own nightly concoction of warm Rooibos tea, with a tsp of lemon juice, a dipping or three of a ginger and turmeric teabag and a tsp of honey. No special reason, but it tastes really good as a warm drink after dinner and before bed and I'm sure can't do me anything but good.

K2-MK7 deserves a comment when discussing CAC score. Please see Dr. Brewer's videos. There is also evidence that K2-MK7 may be beneficial for prostate health (can't remember where I saw this, might be Dr. Brewer also), but the K2-MK7 impact on plaque is reason enough to consider supplementing with it. I discussed K2-MK7 with my cardiologist who to my surprise endorsed it after I brought it up!

also the liver doesn't need to make sugar (gluconeogenesis) as most people on a keto diet consume as much as 20 grams of carbs daily, which is converted into sugar

I'll get another CAC score sometime early next year, to see if there is any progression. 55 here. I had the normal carotid artery scan and had a score of zero. But a CAT scan of my lungs showed that I had plaque in my coronary arteries with a score of 70 and a slight widening of my ascending aorta at 3.6. I would have never known had I not had to get the lung scan. So, how many people are walking around with a carotid artery score of zero but unknowingly have coronary plaque? That being said, my doctor told me that I shouldn’t worry about my score unless I start exhibiting symptoms such as shortness of breath or chest pains. ??? I took it into my own hands and got a cardiologist whom I now see every 6 months.
