What a great video! I also agree that some of Disney older movies well deserved an Oscar compared to the ones that actually got an award. But it is nice to know that they have won so many awards over the years. Their movies are just iconic classics!
Also fun fact : before 2021, legendary composer Hans Zimmer only win for Best Original Score was for The Lion King; it would take 27 years for another win with Villeneuve's Dune : Part One. On one hand, it kinda sucks that he didn't get more recognition for scores such as Interstellar or Inception, but one the other hand, TLK score has to be my favourite from him, so I'm glad he took that (it's also the win that started his career, so that's another win for the movie. The Lion King was really influential uh) As for my favourite win, it's Spiderverse and it's not even close. Most influential animated movie since Toy Story, easily the best of the year for this category, and started a very good streak of wins for this category, with the last two giving me hope for this category getting respect. It was the biggest "we are so back" moment of the Oscars since a while
It is crazy to think Hans Zimmer only had one Oscar win before Dune, but I'm with you - his Lion King score is one of my favorites so I'm glad that was his first win. Spiderverse is a great pick, it seems like that movie was a turning point in re-defining modern animation. Loved the sequel and looking forward to the third movie!
In my opinion, Soul and Encanto were fair picks for the winner in their respective years. That, and the fact that anything Disney has not won the best animated feature in 2 years, seems that the award is no longer defaulting to Disney or Pixar
I do like to see the variety in other studios winning for animation, although I hope Disney gets back on track to making movies worthy of these awards.
it's pretty insane to me that Beauty and the Beast is the only disney movie that was ever nominated for best picture, but if i had to pick just one, i can't argue with that one. Here's hoping Disney get their act together and once again start producing things that are worthy of the oscars.
It is a very solid nomination, but I also wish there could've been more. I feel like Snow White or even Lion King could've been nominated for Best Picture. I hope Disney gets their act together too. Thanks for watching as always!
I still find it complete ludacris that Part Of Your World had no Oscar nomination. That angry Miley makes me chuckle. Now about that shade at Katzenberg. Can we get a full video please? ☕ 🫖
Hello! Could you possibly eventually do a ranking for every Disney and Pixar film? It is a lot. But i’ve seen it done before. I would love for you to do something like that. Or maybe you could review and rank all the sequels that were released straight to video. I would love hear your opinions on those scrappy films!
This is so ironic, considering how "Wish" was received. Hopefully "The Boy and the Heron" winning inspires them to push themselves more. Also, I think Disney has been submitting the wrong song for BSO since "Frozen 2": "The Next Right Thing," "Waiting on a Miracle" (or either of Mirabel's sisters' songs, tbh), and "At All Costs" were the better choices.
@@ashleyvanbeek7045 "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is a popular song, but in terms of depth, it's all about ostracizing a family member (and has been seen as some for an allegory for how people of color deal with mental health issues). As such, I think a song about wanting to be special, feeling overwhelmed, or being empowered would do better than WDTAB.
Snow White not winning best picture in 1937 was laughable. Not surprising, since the Oscar’s has never been about awarding what’s the best of any given year. It’s an industry insider event. You pay to get nominated. The praise Snow White received upon its release is staggering. Compared to the creation of poetry by one critic.
You are so underrated 😢 Your videos are always top notch
Thanks so much, I appreciate hearing that!

A whole video on Katzenberg? Haha I'll consider it!

I have ranked all Disney Animation and Pixar movies, you can find playlists on my channel. Or did you mean all combined into one ranking?
Combined in one video

Dos Orugitas is a beautiful song but the other Encanto songs would have been better choices considering those were the ones that were most popular
curious how you mentioned "waiting on a miracle" and the sisters' songs, yet we don't talk about the song that would have won them the oscar.

Please do a Wish movie review!! Would love to see your take on it
I might now that it’s come to streaming!
