    Great interview Pete.
Earn came up as a recommendation a while back. The one where she bought her car. Been following her since. I did not realize that she had gone to university.
I don't usually recommend channels to other people, but I did recommend her to the group chat of a TH-camr that I watch livestream weekly and a few of them went to her channel to watch her livestream. It was a positive response. I wish Earn the best and recommend that the people with the negative comments watch her videos.

Thank you Pete for giving Earn a chance to provide the perspective of a Thai Woman. Earn is a young Woman, but has a certain wisdom beyond her years.
As a father of two daughters in their 30’s, I always looked at Thai Women differently than most men my age. I don’t see a potential girlfriend or life partner in young Women. That’s just me….
As foreigners, we should respect the Thai, and their culture, with even more reverence than we would in our country of origin. Remember, we’re guests in a Land of Smiles.
I hope Earn continues her studies while pursuing her Dreams of becoming a successful TH-camr. Good luck Earn!
    Another great episode, Pete 🙏🏼

Based upon 7 years of living in the Land of Smiles I can say this: If more Thai Girls in her age range had her attitude and disposition the false preception of many Thai girls would be shattered. Rarely I have been in contact with a Thai girl with her positive and bright attitude and disposition. She has something that is rare: Initiative.

I've only been to Thailand once and it was very enjoyable. Earn is right about how social media can distort your view of the country. I met up with a couple of Thai women and they had normal jobs. One was even a dentist. I think it's because some TH-camrs solely focus on Pattaya and the Thailand night life. There are many facets to Thailand like the food, temples, beaches, and other parts of the culture that tourists should explore

Every situation will vary, based on who you meet. You will meet some woman who seek dependancy, others who seek interdependence, and others who are independent.
Woman are the same in most countries, the only difference is culture.
I met my Thai girlfriend on a Thai dating site. It was a matter of our understanding and appreciating each other's culture.

I am sure most thai woman what a loving husband that loves them. The big question is why would they want to date a foreigner over a Thai local guy. A guy that does not speak Thai or understand Thai culture. They want a better quality of life that foreign money brings. You have to understand their families are very important to them and they want to do what is best for the family.

I'm a foreigner living in Bangkok. It's my 2nd time in Thailand. My first time, I was a professor at Mahidol University. Like her, I often feel that most foreigners skim the surface of Thailand. You need to have a lot of knowledge to speak about Thailand. First of all, you need to learn the language to at least an intermediate level. Secondly, you need to meet different types of Thai people and know the culture, including Buddhism, and you need to be familiar with the history and political system. Many foreigners have TH-cam channels to make money. I talk to many foreigners who have never visited even one bookstore in Bangkok. They don't even know Bangkok has a great bookstore scene. It's just one example. They also know nothing about Thailand's universities.

    • @sheridancole3821

How was it working at Mahidol University? I've seen positions advertised but the salaries seemed a bit low.

    • @gemox3225
      @gemox3225 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@sheridancole. Now Mahidol has an age limit for people who are applying to teach there - 60. I taught there from 2006 to 2009 when i was in my 40s but there was no age limit then. I prefer it to a high school atmosphere as it's more cosmopolitan and open minded. The salaries are low if you're not in the international college or if you're not highly published in your field. The international college has a separate website that you need to apply on. I would say it's better to find a job in your field rather than teaching English in the Language Center. My second job was in the Language Center and I felt we got little respect.

Phuket for example doesn't have a high opinion of the ruling powers.
Her opinions is extremely naive and to be brutally honest I think she's lying to project an image of herself and Thailand that's sells both to the viewer.
You can't blame her, that's life in Thailand.Theres no grey area and the poor farmers from Isaan can only dream of the heights that the 'owners' and 'bosses' have risen to.

I’ve never heard anyone say “ALL”. I’ve heard “most”. I don’t think it’s most, of course, but the point remains that even guys with a biased view still don’t think “ALL”.
And I’ve used my own eyeballs to compare Thailand vs the other 20 something countries I’ve gone to. It’s not “all”, it’s just more transparent, more common, more likely in Thailand than any country on the map you randomly throw a dart at. And Thailand isn’t a bad country, you can admit things about it while still liking it.

Most of the promoted tourist areas have 'in your face' red light districts whether Pattaya, Phuket, Hua Hin, Koh Samui or Chiang Mai so a lasting memory of people who tour the country is that there is an abundance of 'working' women. Also there are a lot of 50+ year old gents who retire but want a woman notably younger so they categorise every 'foreigner' being in the same situation as them - the women only want money, but a younger guy has a different reality in the dating market and more likely to receive genuine attraction.

Message to Earn - regarding foreigners behaving badly - if it is true that most (normal) Thais don't say anything when being disrespected by foreigners that emboldens the foreigner to continue such behaviour. Serious consequences must be served immediately for bad behaviour otherwise it will continue and likely escalate.

However; Thai women are ranked No: 1 in the world for having extra marital affairs!
Thai men are also ranked No: 1 in the world for extra marital affairs.
When ever there is a difference of opinion - it is always that the westerners don’t understand or appreciate Thai culture!!

Communication is the key. That means both parties have to learn how to speak and communicate in the 2 languages.

I’ll never forget the day my wife’s family told me about what Vietnamese people really thought of Westerners that choose to live in countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia.
They said that most locals would give anything to have a high standard of living in a Western country. You have to be a loser back home to choose to live somewhere that has such huge problems and obvious disadvantages.
They had particular disdain for anyone who decided to bring children up in Asia when they had the choice of moving home.
Although they don’t know that much about what it’s like to actually live in a western country, they knew enough to know that there aren’t many successful westerners deciding to live in Vietnam.

For the record, I've lived in Thailand longer than she's been alive. Not all Thai women are prostitutes - duh! However, the vast majority are very money conscious and it is very important that you can "take care" of her. One could argue that's the case in most countries, but financial/money issues in Thailand are a major issue with a lot of couples and many women will want to help their family via your bank, although, it's often done in an indirect manner and for something other than what you may or may not be told. In addition, for many Thai woman the psychology often goes like this: you are giving the money/help to me, not my family AND it is me that is helping my family, so don't expect any credit/merit. As an old hand in Thailand, I can tell you it's all about expectations...figure that out quickly or you may waste a lot of time before finding out you're incompatible as you can't afford the lifestyle and help she might be wanting and expecting.
