I have to say, the imagery of this song is astounding. You can literally hear the sound of the Land of Wind and Shale's history unfurling in this song. From its more peaceful times to the sound of the oil slowly emerging from the planet's core, to the denizen trapping the fireflies (the alternating xylophone keys) in the sky. To top it all off, the song ends with a burst of wind and Doctor begins to play--the song that plays when John enters his gate and finds himself on Lowas in the update.
What I love about this song is the way it just takes me away, to a place where I can see the shimmering "Firefly Cloud". Each note is a twinkle from that fireflies of starry sky, and yet I feel sympathetic for them; they're trapped but so beautiful. I also feel that is theme for the dead john from the "new and improved" Alpha Timeline. The sudden "down strum" (for lack of better term) at the end, and the bit of "Doctor" at the end. It reminds me of the end of "Savior of the Waking World" (in [S] John: Rise Up) wherein WV see's John's corpse.
I love how everyone's like "OMG SHOWTIME IS GONNA BE THE SONG JOHN PLAYS IN THE NEXT UPDATE" and I'm over here like, "Guys, what about this? The title itself is LITERALLY the quest that John was sent on in the first place."
At least half the comments on the Pipeorgankind video predicted that song, and it just made a lot more sense because that one's _played on an organ_, the instrument that typheus lives inside of
*Wind and Shade. The D and L keys are too far away from each other for that to be a socially acceptable typo. But I agree with the rest of your comment; I can hear fireflies!
