It's funny (and by funny I mean heartbreaking) how Nepeta was percieved as childish yet she was the most emotionally mature of all the trolls. While everyone else was fighting over crushes and drama, she was able to set that aside and keep her friendships. this only makes the track art more devastating because in her last moments Nepeta finally let herself naïvely fantasize about a boy who regarded her as a joke :)

Yes, Nepeta was probably sad that Karkat didn't like her back, but she was in no way burdened by those feelings. She didn't hate Terezi for being the one Karkat actually liked, and she didn't try and force her feelings on Karkat despite how much she liked him. I think that's why Nepeta was such a great character; whereas Karkat continued to fuck up on quadrants with Terezi because he was young and indecisive, and Eridan tried to force his feelings on Feferi (but he DID manage to get over her eventually), Nepeta held onto her feelings and kept them strong without forcing them on others.
You did make a good point there, but its not always about love........ If you noticed she looked completely heart broken when Equius, her moirail, died in front of her. So in a way she did die broken hearted. Please don't take this as a hate comment, I did not mean to sound rude in any way. =^ω^=
Theres a headcanon that as Nepeta was dying she tried to crawl to Equius just so she could hold his hand. She was only inches away when Gamzee denied Nepeta's dying wish by picking her up and throwing her against the wall. Killing her on impact. As well another headcanon is that her dream self unlike the others didn't die right away and for hours she lay for hours in agony crying for Equius, Karkat or anyone. But no one did and she died with a broken heart. Honestly I think Nepeta is such an underrated character, and she is one of my favorites.

Though she might be the most irrelevant major character in terms of Homestuck plot line, but for the Homestuck fandom, she's the most important one. Hell, how did she break the fourth wall and used her Rogue of Heart ability onto us is beyond mystery.
The fandom loves Nepeta because she's the quintessential Homestuck fan - equally invested in cuteness, badassery (she's quite the hunter and a very good fighter with those claws) and creepiness, all topped off by an unbreakable devotion to shipping.
I can now beg to differ. Davepetasprite^2 was the one to jumped onto LE to pull him into the black hole since it was technically dave's destiny to defeat LE. Therefore it makes Nepeta very important.
Hollus Elsfik This is late, but I just remembered she and Feferi show up later, and they left with Sollux, and as far ad I recall, they're fine. Also, as of Game Over, Karkat is dead, and the God Tier we saw her with is non-existent. So that means Nepeta doesn't have her old Karkat, but the Alpha one she knew is about to enter the afterlife. So maybe, just maybe.... It'll work out.
I think people don't realize how much nepeta actually loves karkat. She hasn't insulted him or been rude to him. She's just kind. I think that's beautiful
Nepeta had such a great development, I wished we could've seen more of her. She died so quickly in retrospect, and Equius too. We didn't get to see them as much as the other characters.
Serenade and Requited are almost the same tune, but Serenade has a lonely feel to it. While Requited has a loving touch in the music. That's what I think at least.

I think the saddest part of Nepeta and Karkat is the fact that she's probably the only person that has never, ever, in the entire comic, insulted him, at least not to my memory. She's the nicest person to him, and Karkat doesn't even seem to notice. I like both characters so much, but it's just really upsetting that she geniuinely seems to LOVE Karkat, not just have a silly crush, and he's so oblivious to it. And then it gets sadder, cause we've seen God Tier Karkat with her and they were both happy, which means it's possible that Karkat is capable of reciprocating her feelings.

Almost all of them were. When she died, she was 6/13. Same with... *Deep breath* Eridan, Feferi, Equius, Kanaya (somewhat), Sollux (somewhatx2), Tavros, Vriska, Aradia (at first), Nepeta... If you think back on it, they were only kids. Looking back on it, it may not seem like it. But you have to remember that these are only kids that didn't know any better... Which makes it worse
Listening to this while there's a rainstorm in the background is actually an amazing combination. It makes it more soothing and adds a unique feeling to this song.
I hate how people only think Nepeta as a very childish character when that's not all she is. Everyone else was always fighting about drama and quadrants while she didn't mind that Karkat didn't like her back. She is honestly more mature than the others, even if she can be childish at times, but that's because she was a kid.
She recognizes that Karkat and her would never work out and treats it as a forbidden ship that should never occur. And yet a part of her yearns to tell him how she feels. I think she’s the only one who doesn’t actively insult him aside from maybe Kanaya(i need to go back and reread to make sure of that). Everyone actively makes comments at his dismay about his overall anger towards them. And despite all that, Nepeta probably knows that for him, the aggression is all an act.

Here's how it's gonna go down in the flash for this: Karkat has somehow died Karkat ends up in the same dream bubble as Nepeta Nepeta sees Karkat A blur effect is added around the edges and there's dramatic lighting to make it seem all heavenly and dream-like now Nepeta is running slow motion to Karkat with giant watering eyes Karkat is screaming and recoiling Just as she leaps into the air to pounce on him, Jane brings Karkat back to life or John uses the ring or whatever some shit happens Karkat disappears from the dream bubble, the music cuts off abruptly, and Nepeta lands flat on her face We continue with the story without giving what happened a second thought The end
But Jane can't revive karkat, as a demonstration of her powers (while being controlled by the tiaratop) she killed karkat and then revived him, and she can only do it once per person. Interesting idea tho
"K-Karkitty?" Nepeta coughs, looking up at the figure and bright light that suddenly surrounds her. Once the light completely surrounds her, she feels no more pain, no more blood seeping out of her. She slowly and gently grasps onto the hand, looking closer at the figure's face. She sees the face of a concerned, white-eyed troll with nubby horns and a brown outfit with a symbol of blood. Realizing it's Karkat, she gets up from the ground, still holding his hand. "NEPETA, ARE YOU OKAY?" Karkat asks, looking into her white eyes. Nepeta smiles happily and pounces on him, holding him tightly, silently crying into his chest. "I missed you, Karkitty." she mumbles, her voice muffled by his shirt. Karkat hold her, stroking her hair softly and leans down and whispers in her ear, " *I miss you too, Nepeta.* " ... No regrets.
The Disciple had a requited love with The Sufferer. Meulin had a requited love with Kurloz. Nepeta only had her feelings - an unrequited love. Even though she was the youngest of all the heroes of heart, Nepeta had the toughest time with romance. She never got to experience the same requited feelings her ancestors did. Yet she still had those feelings for Karkat, right up until the very end. In my opinion, Nepeta's story is possibly the saddest in Homestuck. I just want to give her a big hug.
That moment when you realize that jonh, rose , dave , jade , karkat , aradia , tavros , sollux , nepeta , kanaya , terezi , vriska , equius , gamzee , eridan and feferi are just kids

It is specifically stated in the comic that most trolls, although not allowed to know their ancestors, try throughout their lives to find out as much as they can about their ancestors through items, journals, etc. They then try to be as similar to their ancestor as they can (or something like that). I hate how people only think Nepeta as a very childish character when that's not all she is. Everyone else was always fighting about drama and quadrants while she didn't mind that Karkat didn't like her back. She is honestly more mature than the others, even if she can be childish at times, but that's because she was a kid.
She recognizes that Karkat and her would never work out and treats it as a forbidden ship that should never occur. And yet a part of her yearns to tell him how she feels. I think she’s the only one who doesn’t actively insult him aside from maybe Kanaya(i need to go back and reread to make sure of that). Everyone actively makes comments at his dismay about his overall anger towards them. And despite all that, Nepeta probably knows that for him, the aggression is all an act.

We continue with the story without giving what happened a second thought

Karkat hold her, stroking her hair softly and leans down and whispers in her ear, " *I miss you too, Nepeta.* "

Nepeta only had her feelings - an unrequited love.
Even though she was the youngest of all the heroes of heart, Nepeta had the toughest time with romance. She never got to experience the same requited feelings her ancestors did. Yet she still had those feelings for Karkat, right up until the very end.
In my opinion, Nepeta's story is possibly the saddest in Homestuck. I just want to give her a big hug.

Considering the context, it's fair to say that they're talking about the family history of the signless and the disciple. A serenade returned for his love. Now this makes nepeta's love for karkat double sad and this song triple.

This is a song that makes me feel. Feel what exactly, I dont know, but it causes a well of emotions, and a flash of weird, disconnected images. Things like walking down a trail in the elder scrolls III: morrowind, and the night I got insanely high and went out to reflect on my own existence.

I do indeed adore nepeta's character, but she isnt just a love interest for Karkat. If she had survived, she would have been one of the coolest characters, and could have gotten such a HUGE character development, but no, she has to die. Her entire character arc isnt just 'Karkitty i love you' or any of that jazz, it's a huntress, a shipper, and an amazing cat lady.
