When [S] Cascade was released, it was on newgrounds. It still is on newgrounds, but i digress. When this was released, SO MANY PEOPLE were watching it that newgrounds crashed. So this song was in the flash that broke the internet.

I have put day to understand why doc scratch have writed that,and even now i'm not sure: it's because they created the green sun?
Phileas guerineau Doc Scratch made them believe they could stop Jack by destroying the source of his power, the green sun, with their tumor, and thus be freed of the web of devils they had gotten themselves into. Of course, the tumor wasn't meant to be the destroyer of the green sun, but its creator, and Doc Scratch was the one making sure the tumor would explode by setting into motion a series of events that would inevitably destroy two universes. He knew that if the universes would be destroyed and the tumor would explode, his master LE wouldn't just be summoned: he'd get the power from the green sun right from the moment he was summoned.
They were mere puppets in the hands of an excellent host, who, after the outcome he had planned was inevitable, just wanted to show them that not only had he been playing with open cards all along, but that they had been those cards.

No matter how many times I listen to this, I still get chills. Especially the parts where Dave and Rose rise to god tier, and Jade literally breaks through the fourth wall. So many feels.

Dude your profile pic reminds me of that one time I was on Gmod doing a Homestuck mod and I joined a server for the mod and people were putting shreks in the sky box and normal world. It caused the game to crash and that kept happening on small worlds until the guy that was doing it was caught with 5 other guys and was banned from the server for a year. It was so funny I was laughing my ass off at the sight of the guys got kicked when they had a huge ass argument with the admins on the server. It was so damn funny.

I remember how I first felt when I watched this scene. I had chills running down my back and amazement in my eyes. This was the moment I knew that this wasn't just another fandom that'd be lost to the sea of time. No other fandom, no other anime, book, tv show, or game has made me feel the way I do for homestuck. Homestuck has legitmately changed me. I became more outgoing, I started drawing more, I met new friends, I became motivated for this fandom. I watched this 3 years ago. I'll never forget the ride that was homestuck. :)

Homestuck: A cure for the young mind full of twisted confusion derived from the complex feelings of growth.
Amkhao Llilalom Mhhk Growing up is hard and nobody understands.
Just a reminder that this happens only like halfway through the comic.
Observe the differences between older Homestuck flash animations such as Cascade and [S] Jack: Ascend and watch how far we've come by the time we made it to [S] Collide.
It's amazing how much worse they became!
Comparing, say... Unite/Synchronize to Jack: Ascend shows that the flashes became a lot more complex, and far more efficient at showing details, to say nothing of how much more dynamic they became over time.
Collide is a different beast than Cascade, but no less impressive imo. Looking back, Homestuck has very few on-screen "boss fights", there wasn't much in the way of precedent for Collide. I think that taking the route of conveying the battles symbolically, through the use of the "base sprites", actually allowed Hussie + co to inject the minute details we'd come to expect from the comic, into a flash. Momentary things, like Dirk using a Zilly Santa in the Jack fight.
It also manages to go for the epic angle, during the opening segment, the closing segment, and the beginning of the Lord English segment. The first sets a sort of mythic tone: the culmination of this immense build, finally being allowed to come to a head. The use of Creata in particular, underlines what's at stake here: the creation myth itself.
The end allows Hussie to have his horse and ride it, too. Sure, the bulk of the battles are conveyed through fast-paced, arcade-style, action, buuuut they're all concluded with dramatic, gorgeous, snapshots of the battles' later phases. Dave decapitating Dirk, PM winning the first Prospitian victory over Derse, )(IC being stabbed by Roxy, these are all gorgeous moments. Homestuck's all about this dualism between silly/fun content (the sprite fights), and emotionally-moving, impactful ones: the final sequence of images for each fight.
This isn't to say Cascade is bad, I think it's quite good at setting up the midway climax of the multiclimactic narrative. This is very hard to do without the audience feeling like they've had something stolen from them (the end), so I commend Cascade for that. I just think Collide is sold short a lot of the time.
(Also, GAME OVER, a pretty late flash? Goddamn incredible).
And yet my favourite of all is the weird puppet montage. How strange it is that things work out like that.
Gotta say, I kinda preferred the old style. It's not any less enjoyable with how the art changed, but there's something about the originals in like act 1-3/4 that was just very unique to me--and it kinda became less unique of a style as time progressed. It was more refined, and something akin to many other webcomics (it remains unique in many aspects still, however). I liked the silly, gritty-drawn style of the old ones better, though. :P
I'm not a big fan of Collide; I think it went way longer than it needed to for what was basically just a few fight scenes.
Animations like Cascade, Jack: Rise Up, and Caliborn: Enter manage to compress events and information down into a small space. They're exciting because there's stuff in them that's surprising, that slots information you already knew together into the bigger picture. Collide already had all it's contents communicated to us beforehand, we don't learn anything new, everything went down exactly as it was expected to go.
Just my opinion, of coarse.

I just got into Homestuck last night. I had given it a chance before and got bored at the guy basically just running around his house doing nothing.
Then last night, I came across the Space Jam remix, Savior of the Slamming Jam. I found the original song, and I loved it. Then I was like, "Wait, what? That bad comic about a dude in his house has a soundtrack? I must be missing something here..."
So then I found where the song came from: Cascade.
I watched it.
I had no idea what was going on, but I was blown away, especially by the "God Tier" girl with dog ears.
Proceed to give Homestuck another try. Read it for seven hours straight. Go to work with five hours of sleep.
That's actually a good schedule for reading homestuck

Past me thought Homestuck was a price of trash. I thought it was incredibly boring and the story was way too slow. I tried it again a few months back, and now I'm here, waiting for the next update. :)
It may be hard to notice, but underneath all the humor and the odd and confusing story, Homestuck is beautiful. Tracks and Flashes like Cascade really help the beauty of Homestuck break through.

I'm up to date on Homestuck right now. I've read all 9859 pages, and this is still my favorite part of Homestuck. I don't know what it is, I just remember how I felt after seeing it and that feeling rises again in me every single time I so much as hear the soundtrack. It's just the way the beautiful artwork and the flawless music come together in one amazing moment that makes all you've read worth it. I just... Wow.

Lots of people are praising the part where Rose and Dave enter the Green sun, but my favorite part is right before. As AR explodes the buildings, something he and PM had been planning for since hundreds of pages ago, he hesitates at Rose's bunker. He thinks about the WV, and how he would die if the building exploded. As the scene goes on, a tense theme plays in the background, and Jack kills him without hesitation.
It shows that the exiles arc is over, with three out of the five of them being killed by Jack. It was a brutal moment for me, who was obsessed with those goofy robed post-apocalyptic travelers, but I really love how the scene shows just how in vain the hesitation was. Had he not resisted killing his friend, Jack would not have ruined the Troll's session. I wish the exiles got more attention before most of them died, it's sad how the narrative just... stopped focusing on them.
She* but yeah dude I agree, the exiles were awesome. I think what makes me nervous about reading act 6 is that I just know there won't be as many ticking hands of the homestuck chronology. Acts 1-5 were like 5 to 7 odd different timelines all converging into one "Cascade" of events. I just know act 6 isn't really gonna hit that high, from what i remember reading it as a kid.

Also it's best to like go back and look for moments and bookmark things and re read parts that tie into or have like a domino effect on things later to come in the comic. Just saying, especially when you consider the flow of time in the story is outside of the structure of the actual comic because there's so many time flow shenanigans.

Y'know, it's a shame. Homestuck could really BE something big, and not just something for obnoxious fringe fandom, if it weren't for how goddamn slow it tends to be 90% of the time. It's moments like Cascade that make you realize why you love it, but sweet jesus.

Nearly every fiction novel in existence was written by one person, and there are a great many that pace very well. Homestuck's story pacing is so fucking torpid that many people don't get to the good stuff.

Yeah, if you get to engrossed in the main plot, it's bound to hurt. Even recently, what with the "how to draw manga" sections. But I still remember the excitement of "You are now Jade", even knowing that meant the incredibly important stuff going on with the other three were about to be left behind for a thousand pages. It's better if you can enjoy every page and every mini-story for what it is.

Honestly, if you need Cascade to realize why you love Homestuck, I think most people would quit either before Act 2, or during Hiveswap.

I actually think the overall pacing is fine for what it is. Something that started as a stupid silly purposely-low-grade semi-interactive webcomic thing that kind of just grew and grew and grew. It feels rather natural for it to be so insanely long and slow-paced-at-times to convey the insane hugeness of what it is, and there're even many parts I wish could have been even further expanded upon, like Hivebent, the A1 trolls' stories and whatnot.
That being said, there are some weird, atrociously grating and pointless-feeling parts that do feel out of place and/or pointlessly dragged-out. If all of those "asides" could have been as awesome as the original Exile side-arc all would be well and good, but sadly they are not. That's just like, 5% of the total comic or so, though, so it really isn't a big deal.
Still though, I feel that Homestuck is really meant to be a "fringe fandom" kinda thing. It's an awesome thing and a thing many people are into but its very style and substance are meant for the nerds and the geeks out there, the fringe, you know? And I think it's mighty popular enough for something that started as just the next chapter in a guy's set of silly stupid little anonymous poster-run mspaint comics.

Dark Lark Productions Here is the thing about homestuck atleast from what I have found. Believe nothing you hear, do not indulge the fandom, and just read/watch and it will be alright. The only issue is the fact many have issues with walls o text. Which there are a lot of. So... not ever ones cup of tea. I know some pricks who just skip to act 5 like retards.
TheD736 That's what's so great about Let's Read Homestuck. They read through the long walls of text, so you don't have to, you can just watch and listen. Plus, it's great voice acting :) I don't know why people skip acts, they're missing a big part of the story if they do that.
